Britney Spears - I Wanna Go

As you may be aware of (if you've read any of my other posts), I have known about Britney ever since she released her first single: "...Baby One More Time". And I have to admit, this music video is probably one of my favourite yet. She has had lots of critical responses and a lot of difficulty in her life, but it definitely looks like she's taking control of it, which is really great.

This marks Britney's third single from her fifth studio album: Femme Fatale. And is probably the best single to describe her whole album, although, the album is quite a mixture of everything, and together it is blissfully one of Britney's best albums. I think this song is probably my 2nd favourite song from the album, and I really hope that her next single will be "How I Roll", but if it isn't I don't mind much since I really like this song. As for charting, it is currently climbing up the top 200 in the UK chart, however it is officially released next week, so hopefully the single will make an impact (I'm hoping for No.1 since the last time she was there was with "Everytime" and that was in 2004). As for her albums, she has never ever had a No.1 album, which really surprised me when I found out, I just hope that in the near future she'll get a No.1 album.

This song was written by Max Martin, Shellback and Savan Kotcha (Max Martin and Shellback helped Avril Lavigne write her whole album, and they also helped with Britney's latest album so it shows how interesting their songs can be). This song again hits out at the paparazzi, although many have complained that she is attacking them again. But in my opinion, they're the ones attacking her, did anyone not see the video footage of them following her all over the news? If she is constantly followed how can she have a life? The paparazzi are to blame for many deaths from Princess Diana to Amy Winehouse (possibly, this is all what I think and I could be completely wrong). So if everyone decided never to read a newspaper or magazine ever again, if everyone decided to never tune into the news, either on the radio or on the TV, would people (famous or not so famous) still be alive today? I personally think so.

The music video is AMAZING! It is one of the best Britney videos for a long time, and I really like the funny side of things. I love how Britney is styled, people say she reminds them of Avril Lavigne, especially with her different coloured hair extentions, however she reminds me of when she was younger and just starting in the music industry, I really like her looking this way and you really wouldn't expect her to do the things she does in the music video, which is what they wanted the impact to be like. Also, I think she looks really well, compared to her music videos when she was a little off her head and not quite right, she looks well on track and it's really nice to see her this way.

I love the start, it is a similar take on the old film: Half Baked, and it's really funny when she says "you're cool", it makes me laugh every time. I also like the t-shirt she is wearing, which is a cropped t-shirt of Mickey Mouse, which relates to when she was in "The New Mickey Mouse Club" which I never watched. I cannot believe the journalists would ask those sort of questions either and to be honest what sort of questions are they actually asking? Who would ask anything so stupid? So she walks out wearing studded combat boots (that I didn't think Britney would ever actually wear, but I really like them), and signs her album and grabs the guys ass, I like how he is so happy that he jumps in the air, to be honest I think anyone would be happy.

I like how she blows a kiss to a baby who's whistling along to the track, and then the amazing bit when she flashes for the policeman, only the whole street sees, and I love the shocked faces, especially the ginger kid as if he's never seen anything like that in real life hahahahahahaha. The policeman, who looks like Britney's Ex-Husband Kevin Federline, then decides to search Britney up and down her legs while she's bent over a car, then we get a flash and we see Britney walking away spinning handcuffs on her finger, while the policeman is buttoning up his shirt (I wonder what they've been up to..... And surely not in the street! That kid would have a heart attack!)

She is then surrounded by paparazzi, which must relate to her everyday life, which is kind of surprising as there is quite a few of them snapping photos without her permission (and yes I know that if you are a celebrity you're bound to have the paparazzi following you and taking pictures, but still...). So she smashes one camera, which I think is good for her, and then she runs away and climbs up onto a yellow taxi. Which is a little dramatic but then again.... And she swings her mike around and hits the paparazzi, which is obviously done by using special effects on the computer, but it is done well, and I can't help but watch again and again. I really like the idea of the cinema behind, which is showing "Crossroads 2: Cross Harder" which is such a good idea, and represents Britney's first debut film, "Crossroads". I like how it is similar to "Die Hard 2: Die Harder" which has to be the best sequel name ever. But does this suggest what everyone is thinking? Will there be a sequel to Crossroads? I sure hope so, I loved that film and have probably watched it too many times by now, but will there be a sequel? If they do decide to, then it's not too late, it could mark the decade anniversary of her first film debut......

I like how there's a link with "Terminator 2: Judgement Day", with the paparazzi creeping back up showing that they are robots and are prepared to get every shot possible. This is a super nice twist and sort of explains the paparazzi to people, it shows they don't care about anyone and so will do their best in their interests and not anyone else's. Then guess who comes along.... It's Guillermo Díaz, who starred in "Half Baked". He drives alongside Britney and tells her to jump in, to help her escape the paparazzi, she is then dressed in a pink bikini top, and dances while standing up (if you look into the background you can tell that they are in front of a "blue/green screen". While Guillermo drives he decides to pour milk over his head. THIS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND! Why do such a thing? If someone could help me I'd be happy to know the answer. Anyway.... Britney is a little turned on that he does such a thing, and then sparks fly from his chest and she realises he is a robot too.

I like the ending particularly, you are taken back to the interview with the journalists screaming at her, and so she thinks she has been day-dreaming. Then Guillermo says "no more questions" and Britney tells him about her dream, and he pretends to be stupid, and then, in a link to Michael Jackson's "Thriller", as Britney is lead away, he turns around and his eyes glowers red, and he laughs hard....... It is a brilliant ending, to go with one of Britney's most iconic music videos.

Overall I cannot fault this music video, except for the milk bit which I do not understand at all. This music video will probably be remembered again and again, and I can definitely see the music channels using this loads more times in the future. I hope you all agree that my rating is fair, and this music video definitely does deserve it!

Miley Cyrus - When I Look At You

Miley Cyrus is only 18 and she still gets a lot of people saying that's she's a bad example. But surely most people at 18 were trying to find themselves and become a person they like, and she doesn't want to be this sweet innocent Hannah Montana anymore, and that should be okay with everyone. She has recently started focusing more on her film career but has apparently had free time to spend in the recording studio, so, even though she said she was taking a break from music, it looks like she's ready to come back after just a few years. She is a very mature 18 year-old as there is many 18's who are innocent and don't really want to break out of their shells, whereas 9 out of 10 people (possibly), has some idea of who Miley is, and therefore she is quickly becoming a superstar in this world.

This song was released as part of the move: The Last Song (based on the book by Nicholas Sparks). Miley Cyrus sings this song amazingly and it works well with the film (where she is the main character). The song is full of emotion and you can definitely hear that in Miley's voice. I first thought she had written the song, and I'm disappointed that she didn't, but she managed to link with it and that's why this song is so strong.

As it was the main single to be released from the film, it would, obviously, have scenes from the film. But there is also a little bit of a surprise. Liam Hemsworth (plays Miley's on-screen boyfriend) appears in this music video. Since Miley and Liam started filming The Last Song, they have been in a relationship, that has been on and off for quite a while. From the latest update, they are still going strong together, but I do wonder how long it will last, but we'll just have to wait and see.

There isn't a lot to this music video, but that's to be expected since it is a ballad. They filmed it well, attempting to link it in with the song as much as possible, but there's only so much they can film with Miley playing the piano.

I like the idea of Liam walking up to the piano, fusing, possibly, Miley's two loves, which kind of works with the song, and I like how they made sure everything is pretty slow as it goes really well with the song. I also like the little scenes of them together, from them running on the shore, with the waves breaking behind them, to them hugging on the end of the pier, and then Liam sprinkling the love-shaped hearts over her, it's all just amazing to watch.

I really like the ending idea with the bit where she sings "you appear like a dream to me", the scenes are then super-imposed on one another and they all bend together, it kind of makes everything dream-like and as if you have imagined the whole music video.

BUT!!!!! There is a lot that Miley sings about that could suggests a lot of great music video ideas, and I totally understand that it is a soft ballad, but they definitely could have done a lot more with the music video, it kind of seems as if they didn't put a lot of thought into it and just did it there and then, which is the only problem with this. They definitely could have done it a lot better.

Overall, it's a great song, and Miley's voice fits it almost too perfectly and I can't help but listen to the song again and again, but the music video, although it's sweet and innocent and works well with the song, could have been a hell of a lot better if they would have looked into the lyrics a bit more.

Theory Of A Deadman - Lowlife

I have been a fan of Theory of a Deadman for quite some time now. They are one of those bands that I like but never manage to get chart success and so therefore I stop liking them until a new song comes out that makes me fall in love with the band again. This song has definitely heightened my interest yet again in the band, but unfortunately, even though they released this song, it didn't get enough sales for it to get into the chart, so unless they release another catchy song, I do really wonder if I'll get back into the band again.

I first became a fan of the band in 2008 with the release of "Hate My Life", which actually managed to get into the UK chart, and is currently the only single from Theory of a Deadman to manage that. Theory of a Deadman is a four-piece Canadian rock band consisting of Tyler Connolly, Dave Brenner, Dean Back and Joey Dandeneau. They have released a number of singles and albums, although not managing to capture the UK audience. I think they should promote their music more over here and that way they'll be able to get onto the UK charts more often, hopefully.

This song is about being a "lowlife", obviously. Tyler sings about being who you want to be and having "the whole damn world in the palm of my hands", which suggests that who cares what others think as long as you're happy with yourself then you have got the whole world. This shows a movement to music, most songs tends to at least touch on this subject, and I'm really glad that it's being thrown in all of our faces just to show that anyone can be anyone and it's not your right to change them.

I LOVE this music video, apart from the fact that "Mr. Lowlife" doesn't make being a lowlife appealing, and although he is the exact description Tyler sings about, I think he still is disgusting. However this works really well with the song and totally suggests everything that Tyler sings about.

I like the whole narrative side of the storyline, well apart from the very beginning with the blurred out bit, that is a little disturbing and disgusting at the same time. I really like the ice cream bit, I think that is funny, along with the bowling ball, how can anyone not enjoy that bit? And the ending is a little extreme, but maybe they were trying to interest other audiences, although I don't think it worked as much as they anticipated.

I really like the guitar solos and the way they film the band members in the caravan. I really like at the start that Tyler is playing the guitar with a bottle in his hand, it totally suggests everything he is singing. I really do like this song, and can't help singing along whenever I hear it, I just hope they find UK chart success sometime soon as they clearly deserve it.

Overall the music video is a fist full of laughs, that you can't help but smile about, but some bits are a little over the top and could be considered gross and disgusting, nonetheless, I totally enjoyed seeing this music video for the first time along with the song, as I totally enjoyed that too. I can't wait for new music and I'm very interested in what the next music video will be like. I just hope more and more people download the next song, as I'm sure it's going to be good, and I hope it manages to get onto the chart at some point.

Paige - Young Summer

Paige is a rock band that apparently started back in 2006, they have supported a number of acts on their tours including Kids in Glass Houses. They are destined for success, and as they complete their first album they are getting more and more popular. This song was released as an EP in January 2011, and I have only just recently heard this song. I know it is better than some bands that are out now, and I really am looking forward for their new songs as I feel that they are going to be really good songs, and I so hope they enter the UK singles charts some time soon as I can definitely see them being one of the UK's best rock bands, competing with the likes of Lostprophets and You Me At Six.

Paige is a 5 piece pop-rock band consisting of Lewis White, Arthur Walwin, Aaron Hunt, Paul Hinwood and Alex Tillbrook. They are the sort of rock band I enjoy listening to and I've probably seen this music video about 5 times already. I think it's a great song and I can't wait for more music from this interesting and different rock band.

According to Paige: "Young Summer is a bit of romantic story about the summers when you were young and didn't have a care in the world, just hanging out with your friends partying all night." This is easily reflected in the lyrics, and the music video coincides nicely with what the song is all about.

I like how people go flinging into the pool, one way or another, whether they meant to do it or was pushed into the pool is so funny to watch, I like how some of them go flying it's really funny. I also like how there is a storyline to go with the song and music video. And how it comes full circle.

I like how in the song the crowd has some lines to sing, it gives the song that 'Tour' kind of feel when the vocalist hands the mike out to the audience, and you hear the crowd singing the song, this really interests people and also suggests what Paige is like on stage, the band would probably be amazing live.

I like how you have the three people who think they can get any girl they want, and tend to push people out the way to try and get what they want. However when it comes down to it all she is after is the person with the right personality, who was the person she was talking to before he got shoved out the way the first time. I like how that particular person gets his own back by shoving the last guy into the water and then kissing the girl. This music video is simple but really good and interesting.

Overall the music video is really good and works well with the song, however it looks a little on the simplistic side and the editing between Paige singing and then the narrative storyline didn't work that well. Nonetheless the music video is really good and it's interesting, and I hope you agree that my rating isn't too generous.

Radio Killer - Lonely Heart

Radio Killer is a dance group, they are from Romania, who is currently becoming a big shot here in the UK, artists such as Inna, Alexandra Stan and Edward Maya are all making a big impact on the UK chart, and it won't be long until Radio Killer gets there too. Romania is vastly producing amazing club songs that is forever getting stuck in my head, I'm pretty sure it won't be long until all the artists they are producing will all appear in the UK chart therefore allowing Romania to be dominating our charts, and it would be a different chart since America is usually the country that does the best in the UK.

Radio Killer, as far as I'm aware of, consists of two band members, Lee Heart and Paul Damixie. However they did a competition that ran for nearly a year called "Who is Radio Killer?", this helped them to get their first single "Viola" high in the Romanian chart, but I am unsure whether there is more members than just these two, if there are please correct me. Anyway, Radio Killer are now trying for international success, this song is big on the music channels here in the UK, but, as much as I want this song to chart, I don't see it happening, as I'm unsure when the release date for this song is, or whether it is already out. I don't have a clue, and the only way I can see Radio Killer doing any good is if they promote their songs here in the UK. Anyhow, I hope they do well and I'm interested in hearing more songs by them.

The song is about being in a relationship and he has just broken up with her, now she's a "lonely heart", and Lee Heart sings about how she is missing him, and when she's falling asleep she keeps "dreaming" about him. It is a really good song although doesn't leave a lot of inspiration for the music video. However I think they've done a good job in theory.

The music video takes place in a club or at a house party, and everyone is frozen apart from Lee and Paul. He is walking in and puts the DJ deck on and as soon as the music starts everyone starts moving and dancing. I like how raw the party looks, there is people kissing and then there is little fights and some people pushing each other, which kind of gets in the way of Lee Heart and she's quite surprised at some points, as if this is not meant to have happened. If this was the case then surely she was really anxious when she had to lie on the floor, which links in with the lyrics really well, as it proves how much of a lonely heart she is, and she feels dead to the world, she is that lonely that if one of those people had stepped on her she wouldn't have cared, although they wouldn't have shown that in the music video.

I don't think there is a lot more to say about this video. To be honest I think it kind of reminds me of the 2nd book of Twilight: New Moon, as it reminds me of when Edward breaks up with Bella, and she is a "lonely heart", and she's daring to do anything that may bring him back. I think it definitely links in with the fact that Lee Heart lies down on the floor.

Overall it is a good first international single, that should do well in the charts, however I don't see it getting very high in the charts. I also think the rawness of the music video highlights the song really well, and shows it really good, however the rawness could also be bad and suggests a low-budget music video. So hopefully everyone will agree with my rating.
