Miley Cyrus, real name Destiny Cyrus, is called Avis Cyrus in this music video for no reason I can think of. Maybe it's another alter ego? Or is she playing a part? Is this not who she is, or a whole different side to her that wanted to come out and play? This is the song and music video that hit major controversy for Miley Cyrus, leaving her 6-12 year old fan base to try and get credibility between her own age which is young adults. Now she is 20 years old (same age as me) and has short hair, and is working on a fourth album. Could this be her most daring album yet? She has left her old good-girl image behind her, much like Britney Spears did with "I'm A Slave For You" and Christina Aguilera did with "Dirrty". So this new album could take any form she wants.
"Can't Be Tamed" was written by Miley Cyrus, Antonina Armato, Tim James, Paul Neumann and Marek Pompetzki. The song can be taken and be seen in various different lights, I always saw it in a relationship side and how she doesn't want anyone to turn her into someone she isn't. However it can also be seen as a school situation and trying to be oneself instead of being involved in a clique. The song hit the UK chart at number 13 making it her fourth highest charting position behind the joint firsts of: "See You Again", "The Climb" and "Party In The U.S.A.". Will Miley Cyrus ever get a UK Top 10 hit? Or will she constantly be getting number 11?
The music video is held in a museum and it starts off with the cage keeper announcing: 'a creature so rare it was believed to be extinct. In captivity for the first time, the rarest creature on Earth, Avis Cyrus'. Miley Cyrus is in the cage and when someone takes a photo she protects herself with those awesome wings.
The music video continues with her and her backing dancers taking over the museum and causing a bit of a havoc.
There is a lot of choreography, which is performed well and shows that she can dance (although we already know that from various previous music videos). The setting is extremely interesting, teaching younger audiences that it is cool to go to a museum and learn about extinction.
The ending proves that everything will end up in rubble. Again, I believe this also manages to hit out at the paparazzi, with the camera at the start, and the song could also be linked to them, she doesn't want to be a good-girl, she wants to be who she is, and would rather the paparazzi leave her alone.
A lot of people have referenced this to Britney Spears, the paparazzi angles can be found in "Hold It Against Me", "If U Seek Amy", "Everytime", "I Wanna Go" and "Piece Of Me". Miley has even done her own music video that hits at the paparazzi which was "Fly On The Wall". Is there never going to be an end to music videos hitting out at the media? On the other hand, some of them are the best videos I have ever seen.
Overall a song that has been stuck in my head, and should've also hit the Top 10 of the UK chart, and a music video that is perfect in every way. I do think they should've used the wings more as they were only in a few scenes for a few seconds. The video portrays the song exactly the way we want it to and also manages to show off her dance ability.

Controversy sparked with this album, but she's set in the right direction, and she is not an innocent girl. She also cut her hair off within the last year. It is now short and blonde. I still haven't made up my mind if I like it, but who cares? As long as she likes it, everything is good. She is currently getting ready to release a new album this year (hopefully).
"Who Owns My Heart" was her second single from her most recent album 'Can't Be Tamed'. It was written by Miley Cyrus, Antonina Armato, Tim James and Devrim Karaoglu. The song is about club vibes and whether or not you actually like the person you are dancing with. It is the sort of song that clubs would've picked up, however it failed to chart in the UK, this could be for many reasons, but I would put it down to next to no promotion, whereas her other singles got quite a bit.
This music video is sexy, it's the only word that comes to mind, and you can't really blame me, because that is what it is. She's waking from a bed wearing not much, then gets ready to go out clubbing and ends up back in the bed.
It shows a new completely different side to her, but it does in fact show who she really is. She's 20 years old, and you really think she's one of these people who sit alone in their room talking to friends? Nope, she's out on the town and hitting it hard just like me, and all the other 20 year olds (yes, me and Miley Cyrus are the same age).
Overall a catchy club song that should've done well in the UK. The accompanying music video fits perfectly and is a true representation of who she is, why should we ask anything less? I don't see much of a narrative and so I knocked off one star, but apart from that how can I rate it less than it deserves?
Christina Aguilera gets my Sunday revisit. This is definitely the music video everyone links with Christina Aguilera and it will be described below as to why. She has come a long way since this video and it definitely changed the perceptions people had on her. Most recently Miley Cyrus has released a similar music video that also came to controversy. She has recently came back to the music industry with an amazing new song called "Your Body" and I cannot wait to see what the future brings. Will there be a new number one soon? Or will she be like Britney Spears, always trying to get to the top spot, and having those songs that deserves to be there, but just doesn't get there. She has collaborated with Redman, real name Reginald Noble, who was a big American rapper in the late 90's, early 00's but who never released in the UK, or just didn't chart. He has been trying to return to music for a while, will he become as big as he used to be or will he just disappear with the rest of them?
"Dirrty" was written by Christina Aguilera, Rockwilder, Balewa Muhammad, Redman and Jasper Cameron. It is unsurprising that Christina Aguilera helped to write the song, and she has definitely managed to do exactly what she wanted to do. The songwriters used "Let's Get Dirty (I Can't Get In Da Club)" by Redman as a template and it definitely works.
The music video hit controversy as Christina Aguilera wanted to change her direction dramatically. From her previous videos we had seen her as cute, young, delicate and dainty. It's not how she wanted to be perceived and usually the only way to push it aside is to go the total opposite and that is exactly what she has done. In later years it has been praised, especially by Miley Cyrus, who has done something similar with the music video for "Can't Be Tamed", which sparked controversy as young girls had been watching Hannah Montana, in which she plays a cute dainty girl, and Miley believed that isn't her and so she became the opposite.
The video has a BIG choreographed dance scene, I love these, at the end of the day you can't beat Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera's dancing, they are great dancers and it shows in all their music videos (please remember these artists are actually friends and there is only rivalry thanks to the media).
Although this video is dingy grungy and DIRRTY, it's different to what we expected from Christina Aguilera, and it made all her future videos different, and I just can't dislike this video. I was young when it first came out and didn't actually watch it, as far as I remember. Although I do remember seeing clips, I think it was on Top Of The Pops, and I think my parents turned it over because of it's content.
Overall this music video has a lot going on and very little at the same time. The song is catchy and definitely worthy of that number one in the UK. It changed the future of all Christina Aguilera music videos, and I'm sure Miley Cyrus' future music videos will be different too. I've actually found this music video the most hardest to review, and I'm glad all I have to do is give it a rating. I dropped one star because I don't think there is a lot to the narrative, but that all.
I can safely announce Christina Aguilera is BACK! Her most recent album "Bionic" failed miserably and it could have been the end for her, but thanks to The Voice and "Moves Like Jagger" a collaboration with Maroon 5, she realised she still had credibility, and she has definitely returned to music with a vengeance, and this is going to be her next big hit, especially since people can't stop talking about it.
"Your Body" was written by Savan Kotecha, Max Martin, Shellback and Tiffany Amber. This is definitely a great mix of writers and usually any song by these or even a combination of these people is bound to be a hit, they have appeared on my blog a lot. I am surprised that Christina Aguilera didn't help to write this song, she's an amazing song-writer, however she has connected to the song well, and she is an incredible singer and will do any song justice.
This music video can only be described as tongue-in-cheek, there is no other way of describing it as it is quite malevolent and malicious but in a humorous fun way. If people died in a fit full of colour there would definitely be a lot more deaths going on, and it will definitely be the wrong people murdering.
This video is very fun, different and definitely stands out. I like the narrative, it's unexpected and I love the message at the start "no men were harmed in the making of this video". Which, at first, worried me as I have never seen this video until today and so I wasn't entirely sure what was going to be shown.
Christina is shown as quite sensual, confident and self-assured. She doesn't take herself too seriously and she likes to show her body off to men and then kill them. But in a ball of pink smoke, or in bright blue paint, or in a spurt of pink glitter. Clearly she's leaving colour everywhere and it would definitely be a great way to go.
Overall the song is one of those that will eventually grown on me, as for the music video it's astounding and I definitely haven't got anything bad to say about it, I like how the deaths are subtly implied rather than showing us the brutal side of things. However I do believe it is more explicit than Britney Spears' "Criminal", but I doubt the UK will ban this video.
This is the first time I have ever reviewed one of Christina Aguilera's music videos on this blog. She made an appearance once as I reviewed "Moves Like Jagger" by Maroon 5, in which she features in. However this is an early song from her, when she was still finding her way, and she sings it beautifully. I decided to do this music video today as I'm going to see the X Factor tour in Birmingham at the LG Arena tonight, and Little Mix sang this song on the show, and they sung it perfectly as it related to Jesy lots as she was having a tough time. This song linked in amazingly and I hope they sing it tonight.
Christina Aguilera has been going since 1999 and has always been pit against Britney Spears, and although I believe Christina has a strong empowering voice, Britney was favoured more, and people thought Britney had finally won, but most recently she has come out on top, with Britney following her shadow, this will be a battle that will last a lifetime, and will get more and more intriguing as the years go by. However they've known each other since the start, when they both became part of the Mickey Mouse Club and have claimed that this rival is nothing more than banter between old friend. Yes that's right Christina admitted in an interview that her and Britney go way back and are really old friends.
"Beautiful" was written by Linda Perry, who is known for being the main singer from 4 Non Blondes, she has had a few solo attempts, but now sticks to songwriting, and has worked for Christina a few times, and most of her notable songs was written by Linda Perry. Christina's voice matched this song amazingly. However I totally get what some people have said, such as why such a pretty girl like Christina gets to sing this song? However there are haters out there who'll do anything to make her feel down, and that's where I think the emotion came from for this song.
The music video is very controversial, but also fits in perfectly, I don't know any other better way of doing this, and it would have reflected badly on anyone who refused to show it, as it's extremely clever, and I can't help but laugh at some bits in it, and it shows that people are just people and everyone's the same no matter what they look like, as long as you're happy inside, it doesn't matter what others think, and if you aren't happy, find a way of loving yourself just the way you are.
I like how they've put Christina in a dirty horrible room, it shows she is pretty sitting right there in that room. Again it's clever, if they would have put her among some people then she may not be the only beautiful person. So I'm quite surprised by this.
Overall, I love this music video, it's almost a short film in a few minutes, and I love how it stands up for all the issues of the world, such as an underweight girl, a skinny guy lifting weights, a girl being bullied, a goth being ignored, and how it touches on LGBT such as a gay couple and a transgendered person. This is extremely clever, and although subtle it creates this huge effect that's still being talked about today.
Christina Perri has such a beautiful and clear voice it's unbelievable that it's taken this long for her to become known. Now she's becoming a worldwide star and it's going to be difficult to keep up with her. She also has a brother who is also in the music industry Nick Perri, who has played guitar for many different bands.
This song was written by Christina Perri, Drew Lawrence and Barrett Yeretsian. I like how she manages to display her emotion through this song, it is really emotional and really nice to just sit back and listen to. The song is about someone who she was in a relationship with and that someone was using her to collect his "Jar of Hearts". This song is kind of her response to what he did. Christina Perri wrote this song on her own experience of someone who wanted to rekindle their broken relationship.
I'm not entirely sure what to make of this music video, at times it looks really good, but then there are some bits of it I think makes it look messy. It looks a little low-budget in my opinion, clearly they weren't aware of the phenomenon this song was going to become.
I like the interpretation of the song in dance. I always enjoy watching dance displayed so effortlessly and interestingly. I also like the link that was used, because this song was first played on So You Think You Can Dance (the US version) and that is how the song managed to become well-known and why it charted so high. So the dance sequence was used as a reference to the TV show.
I also like what Christina Perri is wearing, it makes her look like a rock chick, it's something you would have expected Avril Lavigne to wear in her early days, especially the white dress and the combat boots. This could potentially be a bad thing, because at the start the music doesn't start straight away, and anyone who saw her could think that this song is sort of in the genre of rock, and would probably swap the music channel over even before the song started.
I really don't like the Jar of Hearts, the way they show this is terrible, in my opinion, and I know it makes him look like a dementors from Harry Potter. But they could have done it a lot better, and it definitely brings down this music video.
Overall, I really like the song, after hearing it a few times, but it's music video isn't as good as I first thought it was. I hope Christina Perri keeps on going and has a very good career in the future, but I also hope that her music videos will get better than this one.
