Hunter Hayes - More

More - Hunter Hayes |

I told you I was going to complete Hunter Hayes' three-part music video film, titled "Pictures"; so, here we are with part two, and I seriously cannot wait to watch. We finally get to continue the story on this backdated blog post of mine, although I wish I had caught up by now, but you know how difficult I find it to catch up on my blog - but I will do it; I made this bed of mine and now I need to correct it by catching up, although that's certainly not something I can do overnight. So, here's another one of his music videos as I complete the "Pictures" series. Watch Hunter Hayes convey emotion in his performance piece as we watch a female photographer go about her dream as she misses her husband in this music video for "More".

Hunter Hayes truly has it all, a perfect voice, a brilliant way with words, and incredible music videos. He hit it big with his early songs but now he's had the time to really craft his songwriting and his music, and this really shows in his latest singles which just has this caring spin to them. Just like most of his songs, these manage to bring the raw essence of what he wants to present to the world, whilst also being true to himself. His early singles really hit home such as "Wanted" - which is his biggest hit; but if you delve deep enough and really listen to his latest songs, you'll realise he is changing current country music and people really need to realise this and give him the attention he so clearly deserves. This song was written by Hunter Hayes, Paul DiGiovanni, and Richard McGill.

The music video was directed by John Edde & Matt Edde, and focuses mainly on the photographer that we first saw in the part one of this music video film series, titled "You Should Be Loved". The series comes from the paintings that were created in the "Rescue" music video, and therefore slightly connecting that visual to this three-parter, although it is not officially a part of the series.

I had initially thought the photographer's partner had passed away, you will know that if you had read my "You Should Be Loved" music video review. This really proves that I hadn't watched this music video before then as I would've known he hadn't passed away, but instead had been sent to war. Also, this music video reveals that the photographer has a daughter, this isn't exactly made clear in the first part, as I stated.

The daughter reveals that she is missing her father, just as much as her mother is missing him as well. It's sweet to know that they are missing them the same amount, and it's heart-warming to see flashback scenes of the past. I especially love the scene where he calls her brave, yet she reveals that she's only taking photos and that what he is going to do is truly brave.

This loving family is amazing to watch, and she continues to take photos of couples. Towards the end, she goes to a job interview and the interviewer is not happy with the photographs she has taken; she gives it her last shot by showing a photo of an old couple she had taken recently, where the old woman was in a wheelchair. This impresses the interviewer and gives her a job.

We finally see that the father has returned, much to the delight of our main character and her daughter. It's amazing to see the love that family shares, but what's more surprising is the twist of an ending. We end up in the interviewer's home who's partner is also in a wheelchair, much like the old couple that the photographer took a picture of. In comes their daughter, who is Sophie from the first part. Her father asks her where she's been and she professes that she's been out with Bruce - which isn't strictly true. We also find out that she's getting married soon - well that's put a spanner in the works.

The narrative is full, and yet they've managed to give us a Hunter Hayes performance piece throughout too. He's expressive and passionate, although it seems he is stuck beside that car. He must've time-travelled since he still doesn't fit in that time era, yet he's standing next to a classic car. He also fails to move around, at all. Regardless, he still manages to give us performance energy in every way. This is the Hunter Hayes we love.

Overall, this music video is amazing. It really ups the game from the previous one and by just focusing on the one character, we have more of a backstory that really envelopes us as viewers. Hunter Hayes shines, even though there are a few small faults; regardless, I can so overlook them since the storyline is beyond perfect. I can't wait to watch part three.

New Release: Felix Jaehn Featuring Marc E. Bassy & Gucci Mane - Cool

Cool (feat. Marc E. Bassy & Gucci Mane) - Felix Jaehn |

Who doesn't love a bit of Felix Jaehn? He's one of the rising DJs that we have all become addicted to. This one track is one of our favourites because it is spreading the message of how we all need to be ourselves in this world. This was released officially on 9 February 2018, the date I have backdated this blog post to, making this a new release. I am so far behind on my blog that I am not happy about it, but I plan to put in the work and catch myself up. It will happen, even though it does feel like an impossible task. This music video isn't as great as the song itself, though. Watch Marc E. Bassy perform this track to the camera as various shots show off people being themselves in this music video for Felix Jaehn's song "Cool" that also features Gucci Mane.

Felix Jaehn, real name Feliz Jähn, launched onto the music scene with a cover and has since managed to build up his profile within the DJ world as well as the music world. This is his first release of 2018 and was followed up with his album - which was released the following week. It's a great promotional lead single, but it didn't help to promote his album more than any of his previous single releases. It just lacked promotion that this song really needed since the content is exactly what we need out in the world. The song features Marc E. Bassy, real name Marc Griffin, who has been building up his career in the past couple of years. He has collaborated with G-Eazy a few times and has had one hit international single. He's definitely got this potential around him which suggests that a few bigger hit singles will be released by him, no doubt. There's also a feature from Gucci Mane, real name Radric Davis, who is definitely the American rapper we're all keeping our eyes on. He launched internationally as the feature on Rae Sremmurd's "Black Beatles" and has ever since made his name known globally. He continues to be a prominent force in music, so this team-up should've been a worldwide hit, it just wasn't. "Cool" was written by Felix Jaehn, Scott Harris, Rick Markowitz, Micah Premnath, Radric Davis, and Jonas Jeberg.

Directed by Drew Kirsch, this music video doesn't go anywhere. It's a pure performance piece that attempts to showcase Marc E. Bassy, but it's so disappointing as a complete whole. There are scenes of Felix Jaehn in the background, but the focus is on Marc E. Bassy.

Now, this wouldn't normally get on my nerves, I'm all for artists promoting themselves, but they really need to be comfortable in front of a camera and be able to send their performance vibes to the audience at home. No matter if it's a dance song, a country song, a rap song, a jazz song, a classical song, a metal song, an instrumental song, or a pop ballad. Marc E. Bassy is lacking performance. There's nothing that interests me into watching him sing the song.

The music video starts off with Felix Jaehn talking in his own language, with English subtitles at the bottom, which says: "It is so important to be authentic and just to be true to yourself. It does not matter who you are how you look or what clothes you wear as long as you are authentic. The moment you are acting and trying to be someone else is when you really aren't cool." What a way to open a video, especially one that has a brilliant song with a deep meaning, like this one; well, until the video fails to do or go anywhere.

There are various characters in this, which suggests that maybe there's a bigger music video behind this and it has been stripped back or the narrative has been edited out; as these stories aren't something that we are capable of following in this visual. Marc E. Bassy takes up the majority of the scenes and his presence isn't addicting or engaging. He loses most of the audience.

Overall, this music video could've been a hell of a lot better, if it had been done right. Instead, it just fails overall. Felix Jaehn may have stated that this is his favourite music video yet, and we stand by his opinion as the song and visual does suggest that people should be authentic to themselves and be who they really are, yet at the same time it's completely lacking and just isn't something we want to watch again and again.

Justin Timberlake - LoveStoned / I Think She Knows (Interlude)

LoveStoned / I Think She Knows (Interlude) - Justin Timberlake |

Wow, what a music video for me to choose for my Thursday Revisit. I remember adoring this song when I first bought the album - because, yes, I was a Justin Timberlake fan at the time. Now, I'm not, and this music video practically explains why - well it doesn't really, I just lost interest in Justin Timberlake as an artist overall. This music video shows how little interest I had in him at this point since this visual is just that, a visual. It's something I could've gotten out of Visualisations from Windows Media Player (remember those days?) only with Justin Timberlake thrown into the midst. Watch Justin Timberlake sort of perform to this song as we see blue visualisations and then see him literally in a trance in a futuristic white room in this music video for "LoveStoned / I Think She Knows (Interlude)".

Justin Timberlake is one of the top male artists in the music industry. He was originally a member of *NSYNC and he's the only one who has had a successful career since the group has split. It does seem like his former bandmates are never going to succeed. He continues to show off his prominence in the industry and it's amazing to see how he can keep getting chart hits. The one thing I can't fault him on is his promotion, he sure knows how to work for those chart positions. This one did pretty well, average at the time of the release, all things considered. The song was written by Justin Timberlake, Tim Mosley, and Nate "Danja" Hills.

The music video was directed by Robert Hales and was filmed in Salford, England, UK. It is beyond basic, and certainly one of these music videos that no one will remember after watching it on the music channels, mixed with plenty of other videos.

This one does have a Windows Media Player Visualisations theme to it, as we watch waves of music get sculpted into Justin Timberlake - who performs with his dance ability and stage presence. However, we don't feel any of his energy as it gets lost in the constant changing of the musical waves.

And don't get me started on that ending. What was that? After building up our anticipated energy, hoping that Justin Timberlake gives us something to receive, we see him in a trance-like state - or should I say LoveStoned-state? - where he just stands there looking at the camera with no emotion or anything.

Overall, this music video just fails on every aspect, level, and wave. What Justin Timberlake is known for, is stripped away as we are continually distracted by these musical waves visuals. It just doesn't work at all.

Hunter Hayes Featuring The Shadowboxers - You Should Be Loved

You Should Be Loved (feat. The Shadowboxers) - Hunter Hayes |

I've been meaning to watch this three-part film, titled "Pictures", consisting of Hunter Hayes' latest music videos, for ages, but I really haven't been able to get around to it. Well, guess I can do that right now, and make up for it, by watching the first part and hopefully follow it up with the other videos in the following back-dated weeks. I can't believe how far behind on my blog I am. I've never ever been this far behind, so I'm in two minds on whether to focus and catch up, or just start over again; but, I know that if I start over again, I'll never forgive myself, and I'll probably fall behind again; whereas, if I focus and catch up and get into a rhythm, I may get so used to writing on my blog again that I will fully catch up and manage to keep my blog up-to-date - oh, how I wish that will happen, I guess we will wait and see. I love Hunter Hayes, his vocals and visuals are always on point. I adore continuing music videos, like the Basshunter ones, and Troye Sivan's Blue Neighbourhood visuals, that I seriously can't wait to start this one and watch it all the way through. Watch Hunter Hayes perform whilst playing the piano as we watch various characters in a narrative that makes us want to know what's going on in this music video for "You Should Be Loved" featuring The Shadowboxers.

Hunter Hayes is an American country singer-songwriter who went viral with his absolutely incredible song "Wanted". He has been on my radar ever since and I've liked a lot of his previous music, but his latest releases haven't quite captured me the way his early releases did. Take this song, for example, it took me months and months to finally like the song, and I'm not the only one since the track failed to chart. I expect more music to come from him soon, surely there's a new album being prepared, right? "You Should Be Loved" features The Shadowboxers who are a five-piece American pop band consisting of Adam Hoffman, Matt Lipkins, Scott Tyler, Cole McSween, and Carlos Enamorado. I just realised I have previously wrote about the release of this song on CelebMix. The pop group provides the backing vocals for this track. They've gone on to release albums and feature on other tracks - I'm excited to see where The Shadowboxers go in the future. This song was written by Blair Daly, Hunter Hayes, and Sam Ellis.

Directed by John Edde & Matt Edde, this music video has brilliant content - once again Hunter Hayes has given us an addicting music video. The characters in the narrative were apparently inspired by the painting that was created in the "Rescue" music video - although that music video does not officially link with this three-parter.

We'll start off with the performance piece of this. Hunter Hayes is lacking his usual energy, probably because he is sat behind a piano throughout this visual. Regardless, he still gives it his all to the camera and continues to showcase his many instrumental talents. It's great to see him play the piano, I just wish he had expressed this song a bit more during his scenes. It's also disappointing that he isn't a part of the narrative; however, it's still a great music video anyway.

As for the narrative, it is an in-depth storyline that definitely delves deep into Hunter Hayes' song and draws out this engaging set of events that is set in a different time era to that of the performance piece - this also makes it feel warped to some extent. We open up with dialogue from three of the characters. The girl in the backseat thanks her two friends - who are together - for giving her a ride. As she leaves to see the band, the guy (Bruce) grabs his girlfriend by the arm and tells her that he wanted to stay in tonight, and then asks if she's hiding something from him.

What a way to get us involved in a narrative from the get-go. It has a Grease/Hairspray-style setting, so the year must be 60's. Inside we see a band playing, this is not The Shadowboxers - who are a vocal group - and there's a clear connection between a band player and our main girl from the back of the car.

The story unfolds where we find out the girl who was in the relationship is actually hiding something, she's fallen for this other guy, who actually looks after her and cares for her. We also see a photographer who, after taking a few couple photos, is taken back to her bedroom where she's missing her partner; by the looks of the framed photograph, he has passed away.

During one of the scenes, we learn the girlfriend's name, which is Sophie, and she gets together with the guy she likes and kisses him. This is where this guy sees the bruises on Sophie's shoulder.

This is a well-thought-out music video, and it's certainly intrigued us into the second part of "Pictures" although I'm not entirely sure what route the whole three-part movie will take us down but I definitely want to find out, so expect the following music videos to be reviewed by me in the coming weeks. As much as this works on paper, I feel like it needed to be ironed out through the narrative, as the scene with the photographer at the end is quite confusing. Not only that, but Hunter Hayes does not fit into this at all and it jumps from present to 60's as if they're meant to be aligned. Regardless, it's a relatable storyline, that links in well with the song, and the artist does a great job.

Justin Timberlake - Rock Your Body

Rock Your Body - Justin Timberlake |

Once again, I feel like I'm filling up my blog with female solo artists, so I thought I'd choose a male artist to review for this backdated blog, and this one came into my head. I used to be a fan of Justin Timberlake when I was younger, which probably explains why this song popped into my head, but I really don't remember this music video being so bad quality. It's definitely a colourful music video, and I used to adore this song. Watch Justin Timberlake dance and fly and do all sorts of things in this music video for his song "Rock Your Body".

Justin Timberlake was previously in *NSYNC before he became this hot shot male solo artist, who is at the height of his career. He constantly brings out hits after hits, but following in the footsteps of his co-stars in the Mickey Mouse Club - way back when he was a child - Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, his recent material hasn't bagged him high chart positions globally. Promotion is key nowadays for these big artists, and Justin Timberlake sure knows how to promote, which is why he's done pretty well chart-wise, although not completely brilliantly as he did in the early days of his career; such as this track. This was a global success, giving him his first Australian number one. In the UK it hit number two, and in the US it hit number five. It was written by Justin Timberlake, Chad Hugo, and Pharrell Williams. As for the female vocals, they were provided by Vanessa Marquez.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, this music video is a pure performance visual, that sees him perform in a cube-like room where multi-coloured lights make up the walls; they transition light effects bringing focus on the walls more than Justin Timberlake. It's a total distraction; not only that but the lights transform the artist, to the extent, throwing light in various ways in the shot, making it less appealing.

The dancing is on point in every section of this, which we totally expect from Justin Timberlake. He can dance and totally nail choreography in every way. It's good that he's in-sync with the backing dancers at certain points, and he nails the solos.

What I do not like is the fact that Vanessa Marquez, who provides the female vocals in the song, does not appear in the visual; instead, we have Staci Flood lip-syncing to the lyrics. She's been featured in a few music videos and was once a part of The Pussycat Dolls when they were a burlesque troupe.

Overall, this music video was stylish and cool back in the day. Nowadays, it comes off not-so-great. The dancing is on-point, although I swear we all thought Justin Timberlake was hot back then, but now we're wondering if our judgement was correct. I love the light room and wish there was a club that was fitted with those light walls, that would seriously be a brilliant dancefloor.

Chart Mondays: Sigrid - Strangers

Strangers - Sigrid |

I had planned to review this weeks ago, and then I noticed it would appear in the UK Top 10 in the future - no I did not foresee this with some magical power, I've been so far behind on this blog that I've been backdating every post for the past few months and that's how I saw that I would be reviewing this music video as a Chart Mondays review. Currently, Drake is at number one (and has been for many weeks after) with the song "God's Plan", the music video, of which, dropped a few weeks after this backdated date - so expect that music video review in the future. This opened the UK Top 10 to my review, and at number 10 is this song! I have not seen this music video before today and I believe Sigrid does her best with what she is given. Watch Sigrid move and dance around a set that looks like it's for a movie in this music video for her hit single "Strangers".

Sigrid, full name Sigrid Raabe, is a singer-songwriter from Norway. She's been globalising on her career for a few years, allowing her songs and music videos to go viral. She knows how to build up and it's certainly working for her. This song is her biggest hit to date, although her previous track "Don't Kill My Vibe" also managed to gain traction around the world. The big question is whether she'll be able to keep her popularity and release even more hits. This is something that a lot of rising stars are struggling with, and I'm guessing that Sigrid is going to be another one for us to add to that list. This song is written by Sigrid Raabe and Martin Sjølie.

Directed by Ivana Bobic for Riff Raff Films, the music video is a pure performance visual. We watch Sigrid interpret the song for the camera as she moves around a set.

The song mentions something to do with a film, so it feels like she's appearing on a film set and she's just using the props and the camera work for her own music video. It feels really unrelated to the song as a whole.

As for the performance side of things, Sigrid really works as much as she can. She does her best and that's all we can ask of her. However, I'm not sure if it is all that good as a whole. It just feels like it doesn't connect with the audience at home and it's missing some major things. It's just not all that interesting to watch. Kudos to Sigrid, though, because she works with what she's been given.

Fergie - Just Like You

Just Like You - Fergie |

I know that I keep blaming Fergie for the reason why I'm behind on my blog, and I have to admit that she is no longer the whole reason why I am behind, because I'm like 40 days behind now, and since Fergie doesn't have 40 music videos out, it's not entirely her fault, but she was certainly the start of it. She just happened to keep on releasing more and more music videos which I just had to cover for CelebMix. Not long after, INNA then released a new single a day, and now all the Eurovision news is coming out, it's literally put me so far behind. Add that to the two part-time jobs that I currently have, one of which may go full-time soon, I am flat-out, and it's just put me behind on my blog. Failing to come up with any other music videos to review, I reverted back to Fergie, since she started this downward spiral on my blog, so it's only right that she helps me out. I adore the emotional connotation of this music video, and every subsequent one is just as amazing, as you'll know when I come to review them. Watch Fergie in this black and white music video, lash out at her lover as she spots him on the street which smokes them up into an imaginary universe which dispels him in this music video for "Just Like You".

Fergie, full name Fergie Duhamel and previously Stacy Ferguson, is mostly known for being the female singer in the group The Black Eyed Peas. She has had a successful solo career to date, and took ten years to release her second studio album titled Double Dutchess and gosh was it worth the wait as it is one of my all-time favourite albums that has been released. She also released a music video for every single song on the album - hence why I started being behind on my blog; yes, I did previously write up about this music video on CelebMix. This is a great video although the song is just okay, nothing special. It was written by Fergie Duhamel, Leon "Roccstar" Youngblood, Steve Franks, and Taylor Parks.

The music video was directed by Bruno Ilogti. The opening scene is continued by the ending scene whilst smoke clouds these two characters into an imaginary world which allows Fergie to sing about a guy who broke her heart and where she gets to call him out and make him disappear so she can continue walking down the street.

Now, anyone who has read my music video reviews, know that I hate black and white visuals and again I don't understand why it is in black and white. It does make the smoke more integral to the piece and possibly makes the visual easier, allowing them to be covered in smoke, but I'm pretty sure the concept is still easily conveyed in colour.

The performance piece is slightly lacking too, she's missing her usual energy and it's clear she doesn't enjoy trying to translate this song into a performance visual. The scenes with the guy are amazing - who looks a bit like her husband who she has split from, Josh Duhamel - fully getting into acting. There's just something missing throughout. I just wanted more emotion, more realness in this.

Daya - Sit Still, Look Pretty

Sit Still, Look Pretty - Daya |

My boyfriend kind of quoted some of the song lyrics to this track to me and when I found out what it was, I told him I was going to review it on my blog, and here it is. He also told me that he's going to get a list together for me so that I don't have to struggle to come up with music videos to review - which is a really good idea since I usually rely on my iTunes or my YouTube Recommendations. After exploring the comments, I now know why my boyfriend likes this song, because it was in Pitch Perfect 3 and sung by Hailee Steinfeld and The Bellas - I still need to watch that film! Watch Daya sit still and look pretty as people choose her clothes for her using an app before she gets up and strips the guys down and lock them in a box in this music video for "Sit Still, Look Pretty".

Daya, real name Grace Tandon, is best known for featuring on The Chainsmokers' track "Don't Let Me Down". This helped to launch her solo career where she has gone on to release a few singles and an album, all of which has managed to chart well around the world. Her voice is off the radar and will certainly help her to become a global star in no time at all. She just needs to maximise on her popularity and get her name out there even more; no doubt, a solo hit will make her into an international sensation pretty soon. Keep an eye on Daya. This song was written by Gino Barletta, Mike Campbell, and Britten Newbill.

Directed by Chán André for VOYEURIZED. It's mainly a narrative piece that is set in the future. Imagine a world where all it takes is an app to change your style - now that's something we all need in our life, no more being overdressed or underdressed for any event.

Most of the video is taken up by establishing that Daya is sitting there, looking pretty, whilst other people choose the outfits she will be wearing. I love the way it's been edited and it's completely engaging from the outset, although none of the outfits are amazing or out of this world. It takes some time for her to rebel and actually move, regardless of the fact that she's been singing about not being someone who sits still and looks pretty.

She grabs at the two bodyguards and strips them from their masks and tops. She then explores and make many of the other men remove their clothes, but only the top-half, exposing their bodies. The ending sees these guys trapped in a box, while Daya escapes.

Overall, this music video does relate to the song, but it's mild for what it is. Her performance piece. that is segmented throughout, is completely forgettable totally not making me want to see her live. The fact that it takes so long for her to rebel is annoying, and why doesn't she use the app on these guys? I understand she probably wants to see them topless but surely if someone has been choosing your outfits for you without your consent surely deserves payback.

New Release: Nikless & BEFORE WE GO Featuring Maurice - Don't Wanna Let It Go

Don't Wanna Let It Go (feat. Maurice) - Nikless & BEFORE WE GO |

There wasn't much choice for this backdated new release so I just went with this as I'm not so impressed with the music video and I'm hoping this doesn't take too much of my time to write up so that I can hurry up and catch up on my blog; on the other hand, I haven't heard of any of these artists so I may have some research to do; regardless, this song is addicting and I love how it sounds. Watch a couple spend time together in various locations in this loving music video for Nikless & BEFORE WE GO's song "Don't Wanna Let It Go" featuring Maurice.

Nikless, real name Roman Gilgen, is a DJ from Switzerland. He has released a few singles but there's not much information on him. He's an upcoming emerging artist who plans to hit the road soon and who would love to release an album in the future, but he is currently focusing on collaborations and singles, for now. He's currently been working with ENV and has more music on the way. This collaboration is with BEFORE WE GO, which is a project by Maury Pozzi who is also known as Maurice - who provided the vocals to this track. As a project, quite a few releases have been released and they have all been addicting, just like this one. I can't wait to see where both these artists go, their futures are bound to be bright. This song was written by Nikless and Maury Pozzi.

Directed by Cutloose London, this music video is a pure narrative visual that doesn't connect with the audience. It shows a loving couple in various locations enjoying their time together, before separating.

The first scene shows them walking across a desert. They then start collecting log-like sticks so they can start a camp-fire. This takes up the majority of the music video, taking the word "flames" from the lyrics and turning it into a central part of the music video.

From the fire, we get the exact opposite in the next scene in a snowy landscape and our couple gets into a snowball fight. It was clearly a memory of their fun time together, and they miss those times. We also watch other memories including them crossing a rickety bridge, having tea in the snow, an overlooking swimming pool, and climbing a rock face.

The ending sees them go their separate ways, leaving the past in the past and breaking up. It's an all right music video and does relate to the song, but it doesn't establish the loving connection all that well with the viewers at home. We're missing the sparks and the passion.

GALA - Let A Boy Cry

Let A Boy Cry - Gala |

I doubt I'll get the chance to review GALA again, so of course, I was going to review one of her old music videos for my backdated Thursday Revisit. Surprisingly, I had never heard of this song, even though it charted in the UK at number 11 back in 1997; I just guess trance never really got to me as a kid; to be fair, we're all just rediscovering "Freed From Desire" since DJs absolutely adore the song and continue to play it in the clubs nowadays. It's that song that is the reason I'm reviewing this music video right now. Watch GALA perform her song about it being okay to be different and who you are in this pro-LGBT music video for her song "Let A Boy Cry".

GALA, full name Gala Rizzatto, is an Italian singer who made her name known in the 90's when her track "Freed From Desire" became an international hit. This song was the follow-up and did moderately okay for that time - nowadays if she had pulled off those chart numbers it would've been considered another international hit; however, that's only in some countries; in others, it did better than her previous track, such as in her home country of Italy. Since then, she's released more singles and more albums and has clearly continued her passion for music. This song was written by Filippo Andrea Carmeni, Gala Rizzatto, and Maurizio Molella.

This music video is in black and white, which automatically makes me dislike it, I don't care that it's a 90's music video, that doesn't give it a good enough reason to be in black and white. I understand it is used so that the gold can stand out more, but the same effect could've been done using colour.

Putting that aside, GALA does give a pretty good performance of the song, considering she is surrounded by extras who take a role in the portrayal of the narrative. We see people from the LGBT+ community being themselves.

There's a lot of sweet moments and, for the 90's, it's good to see that something like this was being filmed and shown. On the other hand, there's nothing substantial and heart-warming. No one would say a thing if it was showing women putting lipstick on or straight couples holding hands. They don't try to identify the issue at play and instead of showing us a loving narrative, we're left with scenes that don't really come together to portray a story. Kudos go to the gold vs silver thing going on and the concept - even if it didn't work out quite so well.

Eric Saade - Girl From Sweden

Girl from Sweden - Eric Saade |

This song has been stuck in my head after I came home from work the other day (this is a backdated post - it is actually March, and I've been working for a month now). So, I thought I'd see if there was a music video for this song, and once again Eric Saade has come through for me. This is not only a good music video, it's a great music video which relates well to the song and represents his home country perfectly. I'm surprised he didn't attempt Melodifestivalen with this song, as I reckon it would've been a good contender. Watch Eric Saade present his country for the whole world to see, allowing us to see some beautiful sights, some beautiful Swedish people, and this singer-songwriter dancing in this music video for "Girl From Sweden".

Eric Saade is best known for competing in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with "Popular" where he represented his home country, Sweden, coming third with 185 points. Since then he has released a tonne of music and even returned to Melodifestivalen a few times in the hope to represent Sweden at Eurovision again. I adore this track, and I think the song and its accompanying music video would've been perfect for Eurovision, but it wasn't a part of the competition. It didn't do quite so well chart wise in Sweden, only hitting the heatseekers chart. Regardless the song is a jam and truly shows what Eric Saade is capable of. How he isn't an international star yet, I do not know. He was also originally a part of boy band What's Up! for two years.

Directed by Alexandra Kentsdottir & Silja-Marie Kentsdottir, this music video is a pure performance piece with a narrative that doesn't really go anywhere at all. The location was filmed in various places in Stockholm, including Hornstull, Västerbron, Värmdö, and Levon. There's also a scene filmed in Smedby and Hagen in Leksand.

This really manages to show off Sweden - mainly Stockholm - amazingly and totally makes me want to visit even more one day; no doubt I will. It's a cute narrative showing Eric Saade at a press event by himself before exploring Sweden, clearly going after his "Girl From Sweden"; however a love interest never pops up, and instead three women dressed in Swedish traditional clothing appears beside him at the press event - these women can be seen during the performance pieces.

Finally, we get to see Eric Saade's dance moves, and he can certainly follow choreography. It may be basic but it's definitely one of those sequences that people will copy and perform in the comfort of their own homes or with other people. It's like he's bringing back something we've seen plenty of times from the 90's and the 00's and it really works. We want to be able to pull off those dance moves with his style and flair.

Overall, this music video is really good, it sort of relates to the song, to the extent where it shows off Sweden and the pretty women who live there. However, a love-interest would've certainly upped this music video rating that tiny bit more.

Aston Merrygold - Get Stupid

Get Stupid - Aston Merrygold |

This song is literally everywhere at the minute (it's currently March - this blog is backdated to the end of January) and has been rising in listeners due to the Samsung using it during their Unpacked Live Event which revealed the Samsung Galaxy S9. Not only that, but the song have been used in various other places recently, finally allowing Aston Merrygold to gain attention for this song. It's certainly catchy, although I'm not so keen on the track itself. The hook at the start of the chorus is what draws us in, but the rest just spoils the track, which explains why Samsung only used the first half of the chorus for their live event. Watch Aston Merrygold, from JLS, dance around the shopping mall in his debut music video for the song "Get Stupid".

Aston Merrygold is best known for being a member of British boy band JLS, who came second on the fifth series of The X Factor - which Alexandra Burke won. The group went on to have a number of hits before parting ways and they will forever have established themselves in British music. Aston Merrygold has always been interested in a solo career, so it's not a surprise that he is now going it alone, although his latest releases haven't gained traction, if any at all; not only that, but he also appeared on Strictly Come Dancing, so he can only hope that that helps him, music wise. He's always come across arrogant, to me, and I don't think he could shake that from my perception of him, as much as he may try. This song actually managed to chart at number 22 in the UK, number 10 in Australia, number 15 in Scotland, and number 72 in Ireland. "Get Stupid" was written by Aston Merrygold, Karen Poole, and Sonny J Mason.

Directed by James Lees, this music video is set at the Del Amo Fashion Centre in Torrance, California. It has a staring narrative that turns into a performance visual. I certainly can't knock Aston Merrygold's dance ability because it is certainly of a high quality.

The start comes off completely staged, to the extent that it's flat-out uninteresting to watch - where is this singer-songwriter's acting ability? - regardless, it doesn't last for long and we quickly jump into the song. It's clear that Aston Merrygold loves to show his dance ability with backing dancers, which does come across a little like he's still in JLS.

The rest of the music video sees him enjoying himself throughout, with the choreography relating to the song as he performs with a spring in his step. He is loving his life in the shopping mall - I wish I had that sort of energy on a daily basis. The ending sees him walk out. It's bright, it's catchy, it's fun, but does it really relate?

Chart Mondays: Jax Jones Featuring Ina Wroldsen - Breathe

Breathe (feat. Ina Wroldsen) - Jax Jones |

Time for Chart Mondays on this backdated date, and we have a brand new number one. It's Drake's song "God's Plan", yet the music video isn't released until late February, whereas this blog is being backdated to the end of January, so we have a few weeks until I finally review Drake's number one song, opening the UK top 10 to my review, and I have adored this song since it dropped - plus the backdated date is my birthday, 29 January - so, of course, I was going to review the music video to this, although I'm not happy about the music video itself. The song features one of my favourite artists, Ina Wroldsen, who's career I have followed for a few years. Watch dancers Shaadow Sefiroth and Shala Sarah Haruko Iwaskow perform in iconic London locations, such as the Natural History Museum, in this music video for Jax Jones' song "Breathe" which features Ina Wroldsen.

Jax Jones, real name Timucin Aluo, is a British DJ who has had a number of hits in his home country, as well as around the whole world. He's had the honour of collaborating with some massive names in the music industry. He continues to prove he is a force to be reckoned with and this song climbed up to the UK top 10 after the release of this music video, so no matter what my thoughts on it are, it does show that the release of the visual helped the song rise. It features the incredible singer-songwriter, Ina Wroldsen. She's known for writing some of the biggest songs in the industry, as well as providing her vocals to some iconic tracks. She continues to get her name out there and keeps giving us hit after hit. I can't wait to see what the future brings for her. I originally wrote up about this music video for CelebMix; I also wrote about the song upon its release, for the magazine. This song was written by Timucin Aluo, Fred Gibson, Uzoechi Emenike (MNEK), Ina Wroldsen, and William Clarke.

Directed by James Slater, this music video showcases these two incredible dancers. Shaadow Sefiroth and Shala Sarah Haruko Iwaskow dance their way through intricate choreography in this visual, keeping the audience entertained throughout.

The problem I have with this music video is that the artists don't appear in the visual, not even slightly; not only that but the choreography isn't anything amazing, there's a lot of body-popping going on with some good translation of the lyrics, yet sometimes there's just nothing that relates to the song.

There are some great locations, such as the Natural History Museum during after-hours, which is filmed inside the entrance, which is usually taken up by Dippy the Dinosaur, however, he's currently on tour around the UK, so we get stunning shots of a Blue Whale skeleton, that's hanging from the ceiling. Other scenes include a derelict shopping centre, a deserted Millennium Bridge, as well as them performing in the middle of Oxford Street - in the middle walkway between the two roads.

Overall, I totally adore this song, but it's music video just isn't enough for me. Kudos go to the dancers, who bring it to the best of their ability; and, to the Jax Jones-head dancer, who appears on the Millennium Bridge with the two dancers and pulls off some simple moves. The ending sees Shala Sarah Haruko Iwaskow alone on Oxford Street looking at a billboard advertising Jax Jones' "Breathe" with the mint sweets.

GALA - Freed From Desire

Freed from Desire - GALA |

The bar that I work at on Saturdays keep playing this awesome tune, and I just HAD to review its music video, even though I kind of wish I had never seen this visual because it really isn't the best. The song is beyond catchy though, one of those songs people will remix time and again as the years go by, once again making it a hit track. Then there's this music video, this was not what I was expecting at all. I was hoping for something more high quality than this, although most club classics tend to be low-budget music videos. Watch GALA run away from a bunch of men in this music video for the undeniably catchy track "Freed From Desire".

GALA, full name Gala Rizzatto, literally hit the international music scene with this song, as well as its follow-ups. However, as with many great club classic artists, they never manage to stick around and soon lost their chart hits when they release more songs. This has happened often and it is still happening today, disappointingly. I guess everyone just can't be superstars. This was the first single from her debut album "Come Into My Life", the second overall following debut single "Everyone Has Inside". I am surprised to find out that she is the daughter of Salvador Dalí and Gala Dalí. She's released two more albums since, and I'm definitely intrigued at her latest releases, especially "Start It Over", which was the most-recent, dropped in 2015. This song was released way back in 1997 and was written by Gala Rizzatto, Maurizio Molella, and Filippo Andrea Carmeni.

This music video has a performance piece and one hell of a dodgy narrative that is so difficult to keep up with; all of which is filtered in this vintage filter that just makes this look even older. There's just nothing here.

The performance is energetic, I'll give GALA that, but she repeats her actions and at times pulls scary faces which certainly doesn't convey the song, nor does it relate.

As for the narrative, I am not sure what is going on. The guys seem to be all over her and then chasing her down. One seems to be her love-interest as they are riding in the car together, but she can also be seen running away from him and his friends in a mad chase. He seems to offer her a diamond necklace which we've seen close-ups of previously, yet she gives it him back.

Overall, this music video is confusing overall. There's nothing clear going on and just feels like a complete mess. The performance could've been good if she had loosened up a bit more, instead GALA looks like she doesn't know what she's doing - which could actually be what's going on.

Frankie Ballard - Young & Crazy

Young & Crazy - Frankie Ballard |

Back we go to my iTunes shuffler which played this song about an hour ago and it's still in my head in some way or another. I checked to see if there was a music video, and here it is - that's what I like to see, something for me to review. The song is an undeniably catchy country song with meaningful lyrics throughout, painting a picture for every single listener. As for the music video, I am certainly less impressed in every way. Watch Frankie Ballard perform his song on stage to his fans, showing off his performance skills whilst we see some backstage intercut scenes in this music video for "Young & Crazy".

Frankie Ballard launched into the music industry scene when he took part in Kenny Chesney's Next Big Star competition, which he won; he then went on to open shows for Kenny Chesney in Michigan, and it wasn't long until his music career kicked off. He's done really well on the US Billboard Hot Country and Country Airplay charts as well as in Canada too. This song did really well, proving to many people that he deserves to be in the music industry. His voice is country perfection and I hope that he has a worldwide hit, that's all it takes. This song was written by Rhett Akins, Ashley Gorley, and Shane McAnally.

Directed by Glen Rose, this music video really doesn't have a lot to it and is more of a tour video than anything else. The main visual is of Frankie Ballard and his backing band performing on stage. He's full of life, and it truly is great to see him connect with this song and release his energy out to the crowd.

His fans are clearly loving every minute of it, and to be fair I would be too if I had been there. The thing is the camera operator annoys me throughout. First off the camera isn't the best, so therefore not easily transcending to the viewers at home very well. Secondly, it could've been edited lighting wise to interest the audience. But, my main problem is that it's moving about way too much.

As for the intercut scenes, is there any need for them? Frankie Ballard certainly isn't acting young and crazy during these parts - if only he was. Overall, the viewers at home don't get much from this music video apart from understanding the energy that Frankie Ballard has when he's on stage - he's definitely someone I would love to see live; however, as a whole, it just doesn't work and with a song as powerful, emotional, and meaningful as this, you would think there would be a better concept.

New Release: Micke Moreno Featuring Kryan - Juego

Juego (feat. Kryan) - Micke Moreno |

Anyone who knows me, knows I'm obsessed with Global Records and their array of artists on the record label. They recently created a division titled Global Records Latin, which Micke Moreno was the first star to release under that division with "El Amor" which featured Antonia. The label has continued to release songs that are beyond addicting, and here is another one on this backdated new release. I previously wrote up about this for CelebMix, and although it wasn't strictly released on this backdated date, it was released a few days earlier, it was still new for that week. Watch Micke Moreno and Kryan battle it out during a car race intercut with performance scenes in this music video set in a car park for "Juego".

Micke Moreno, who is sometimes known as just Micke, is best known for taking part in The X Factor (US) and La Banda. Now, Global Records Latin has picked him up, along with some of his friends for their new record label, and it is proving to do well for everyone involved. His debut, "El Amor" got millions of YouTube views, although we reckon that was with the help of featured star Antonia. This single sees him collaborate with Kryan, again - they first teamed-up for "Eres Tu" along with Fabyan and Yoandri. Kryan is known for being on La Voz Teens where he was a semi-finalist. Now, he's a part of Global Records Latin allowing him to pursue his dream and passion. He manages to twist up this track, adding his stamp and flavour. The song was written by Micke Moreno and Brien Melo with Alexandru Cotoi helping to compose the music.

The music video has both a narrative and a performance piece, so you would expect my rating, at the end of this review, to be high; this is the core of a great music video, however this just doesn't come off quite so well. The performance takes over as the main part, leaving the uninteresting and overdone narrative to become a minor part.

The car race launches this whole music video, but sometimes the cars don't look as if they're competing. They go around the car park as we wait to see who wins. We've seen plenty of car races in music videos. Micke Moreno looks disappointed at the end, suggesting he lost, but maybe he's just unhappy about Kryan's inability to perform in the performance part.

To be fair, it's not just Kryan's fault, the camera operator focuses on the women dancers far more than the two singers, and we can't really blame Kryan for being distracted, now can we? It would be good to see Kryan perform all by himself, to see if he does grab the audience at home. As for Micke Moreno, he is on point and definitely a future star, he controls the energy and slams it right into the viewers at home. He's not distracted and wants to give a good performance, and he manages to save this video in every way.

Antonia - Marabou

Marabou - Antonia |

Another week, another Thursday Revisit, and I have been waiting for a 2018 Thursday where I get to review this track by Antonia. This is totally her top solo song in Romania, and gosh is it catchy. It's one of those songs that stay in your head even a day after you first heard it. It's no surprise it climbed so high on the Romanian charts. Today is the first time I've seen this music video and I am so not impressed. Her latest music videos are on fire in every way, whereas this one just feels low-budget and it's beyond simple. Watch Antonia perform this hit song against a white background, flooding the visual with her modelling skills in this music video for "Marabou".

Antonia, full name Antonia Iacobescu, is one of the top female Romanian singers about at the moment. She's just released a brand new single that I can't get over, titled "Tango". I am hoping she plans on releasing a new album as we totally need a follow-up to her debut, especially since some of her latest tracks have charted well in her home country. All her recent tracks have been amazing, but none have quite reached number one in Romania like this song did. Catchy beyond anything we can imagine, Antonia sounds perfect on this song and is subtly sexy with the lyrics, which makes it even more addicting. "Marabou" was written by Thomas Troelsen and Anna F.

There really isn't much to this music video at all, and considering what she's released recently, this visual doesn't live up to Antonia's true potential. It was directed by Khaled Mokhtar - which really shows how far he has come in directing music videos since this.

Within the clip, Antonia draws on her modelling experience to sell this song. She is wearing a black dress that exposes her chest and the sides of her body. Throughout she's sexy and sultry as she stares into the camera and she tantalises the audience with certain moves.

Overall, this music video is beyond basic. It uses Antonia's strengths from when she was a model and wraps it up in a sexy music video that doesn't go anywhere. There are some synchronicity issues, where her lips don't match up to the lyrics, which draws the whole music video down. Regardless, Antonia stays in character throughout and does what she can to make this visual, good.

Jordan Fisher - All About Us

All About Us - Jordan Fisher |

Once again, YouTube came through for me with this music video as I found it on the right panel when I was reviewing Forever In Your Mind's "Smooth", and the thumbnail just stood out at me. I recognise his face, although I'm not quite sure where from, as I've only ever seen Grease Live! from what he has been in, and I don't remember him in that show, although he clearly was one of the main characters. I probably recognise him from all the press from the 25th season of Dancing With The Stars, which he won. He's been trying for a music career for some time and he has done all right to date. Watch Jordan Fisher profess his love for a woman while he knocks out some brilliant dance choreography in this music video to his debut song "All About Us".

Jordan Fisher is a name people are quickly getting to know. He's an established actor and musician, and he is certainly getting his name out there. As previously mentioned, he's the winner of the 25th season of Dancing With The Stars, which is bound to push him to future success. He has appeared in 12 episodes of Liv & Maddie; starred in Grease Live!, Teen Beach Movie, Teen Beach Movie 2, and appeared in 9 episodes of The Secret Life Of An American Teenager. He has also appeared in the Broadway production of Hamilton. As for his music career, this song was his debut single back in 2016. He has since released an EP and three follow-up singles. I am certainly interested in seeing what the future brings him, music wise. The song charted on the US Billboard Mainstream Top 40 at number 26. It was written by Nick Bailey, Rick James, Ryan Ogren, and Steve McMorran.

Directed by TK McKamy, this music video is a pure performance visual that really showcases everything about Jordan Fisher. He sings passionately, he dances like he's on fire (no wonder he won Dancing With The Stars), and he can stay in character all the way through a music video.

You would think this visual has it all. The choreography is on point all the way through, and there's even a slight narrative with his love interest. However, he loses connection with the audience. I'm not sure if the song isn't exactly to his liking, or he hasn't quite felt it within him, but whatever it is, he feels slightly out of it.

The audience loses interest as the first scene progresses and we're drawn back in when additional dancers added into the scenes. However, it happens again towards the end of the music video as it doesn't develop or grow. It feels like it's one flat visual.

Regardless, Jordan Fisher gives it his all. His dancing is superb and the choreography is so on-point that we all wish we could dance just like him. The additional dancers, as well as his love interest, add flavour and intrigue to the mix, but it's just lacking connection overall. Jordan Fisher is on fire in this clip and this excites me for what is to come from him in the future.

Forever In Your Mind - Smooth

Smooth - Forever in Your Mind |

I wouldn't say I'm a fan of Forever In Your Mind, but I do love their music, and here's another example of a very catchy song; although, I don't approve of what they said about BTS, on the other hand, they did apologise about it, so I guess it can be forgiven. This song may be beyond catchy, but the music video is lacking a smooth quality which we were expecting - there's just way too much smiling going on. Watch Forever In Your Mind attempt to be sexy and sultry and smooth whilst they dance with female love interests in this music video for their song "Smooth".

Forever In Your Mind are a three-piece boyband consisting of Emery Kelly, Ricky Garcia, and Liam Attridge. They made their name when they were formed on the third season of The X Factor (US); however, they only made it to the Bootcamp stage before being eliminated. I guess they proved Simon Cowell wrong though since they have gone on to release two EPs and a bunch of singles. Not only that, but they almost bagged a Disney TV series as the lead stars; unfortunately, the show wasn't picked up - they could've been the next Jonas Brothers. Regardless, they are still going and releasing contagious music that I can't help but love. This song, "Smooth", was written by Dustin Atlas, Emery Kelly, Emily McDonald, Liam Attridge, and Ricky Garcia.

Directed by Nayip Ramos, this music video is a pure performance piece with the guys attempting to nail it with the song. They clearly connect with it but are just having too much fun on set that they can't help but smile, rather than act smooth - this is the major flaw with the music video.

The concept is great, seeing the women in the music video as parts of their imagination; clearly, they are still on the guys' minds. Then, they surprise us with some brilliant dance choreography that they completely nail in every single way.

Throughout, they bring sex-appeal and killer dance moves. They manage to be sultry and smooth all the way through the scenes; however, it isn't consistent. The worse is Liam Attridge who may have perfected his smooth look during his verse, but throughout he's always smiling for the camera before he realises he's not supposed to smile and tries to look sultry again. He's not the only one, Emery Kelly and Ricky Garcia have their moments too. They're just living the life and having fun on set; it just sidetracks the viewers. If they can't stay in character for an almost four-minute visual, then it's no surprise their TV show wasn't picked up by Disney Channel.

Chart Mondays: Rita Ora - Anywhere

Anywhere - Rita Ora |

A new week means a new Chart Mondays, and I'm still weeks and weeks behind - I will catch up! I swear! On this backdated date, Eminem reached the top of the UK chart with "River" featuring Ed Sheeran; knocking off Ed Sheeran's "Perfect". At the time of this date, there was no music video to the UK number one song - it was released weeks later and I'll probably end up covering it in a future Chart Mondays review - so today's backdated Chart Mondays was open to the UK Top 10, and this song seems to be falling on the UK Chart, so I thought it was about time I covered this. Watch Rita Ora perform in various places in New York in what looks like a spontaneous recording in this music video for "Anywhere".

Rita Ora is currently one of the biggest female singers in the UK at the moment. She's managed to get all of her latest singles into the UK Top 10, which is certainly not easy to do nowadays. Her songs have been instant hits, and this all happened after she had a few legal troubles with her previous record label that could've turned into a #FreeKesha / #FreeJoJo movement if it hadn't all worked out in the end. She now has 12 UK top ten hits, which equals the record for the most UK top ten hits by a British female artist, equalling with Shirley Bassey and Petula Clark - it'll only take one more and she'll have the record all to herself. This song peaked at number two on the UK Chart and was written by Nolan Lambroza, Alexandra Tamposi, Alessandro Lindblad, Nicholas Gale, Andrew Wotman, Brian Lee, and Rita Ora.

Directed by Declan Whitebloom, the music video took 14 hours to shoot in various places in New York. The video is a pure performance piece with some iconic looks from Rita Ora throughout whilst she nails the energy for the song in every way.

Let's start this review about the fashion. Rita Ora manages to style every single bit of clothing in every way. Most of the jewellery was designed by Alexis Bittar, whilst most of the footwear was designed by Sophia Webster. As for the restaurant scene, the diners are real diners and the restaurant remained open during filming, allowing the diners to accidentally appear in the shots.

The whole clip embodies running away and escapism. What it is lacking is a love-interest, however, I'm going to imagine that her love-interest is actually behind the camera, shooting her being free. There's so much on-point fashion from different designers and in different styles that this blog will be way too long to list them all. Regardless, Rita Ora shines throughout, pulling off any sort of look possible.

Overall, this music video is good; however, it feels like it's a fashion-forward music video. This would be fine if the song itself was focused on fashion at all; instead, the song is about running away with a lover. Minus the lover, Rita Ora certainly isn't in LA, and she does act free as if she's been released from the binds of LA - we're going to ignore the fact that New York is on the other side of the US so it was totally a planned getaway. I also believe the viewers at home are the people she's running away with.
