Finally, J Balvin gets a top ten hit in the UK, it's just a shame it wasn't "Cola Song" which is Inna's song that he features on. Every time I read his name, I say it the way he does in that song. Anyhow, this has launched up the chart with the help of Snapchat filters, since this song was played when a certain face filter was chosen. This music video gets reviewed for my Chart Mondays' review since Dua Lipa has made it a second week at number one on the UK Chart with the awesome tune "New Rules". J Balvin, full name José Balvin, is a Columbian reggaeton singer who has collaborated with a whole host of big names and has been focusing on his career for many years; and, finally, he's getting the recognition he deserves all around the world. It's been the perfect time for him to capitalise on his career as Latin music is ever-so-popular right now. This track is in collaboration with Willy William, who is a French artist whose previous biggest hit was 2015's "Ego". It'll be interesting what steps he takes next and whether he can keep a hold of this international fame because we sure know J Balvin will continue to release big hits around the world. The song has topped many international charts, as well as gained top ten's in much more. The song was written by José Osorio, Willy William, Adam Ashadally, Andrés David Restrepo, and Mohombi Nzasi Moupondo.
Directed by Juan Pablo Valencia as part of 36 Grados, this music video is a pure performance piece with a burst of nonstop colour throughout. The beat kicks in straight away and it's completely addicting as we watch a reflected city and completely colourful backgrounds in front of J Balvin and Willy William and the dancers.
There's a lot of head bopping during the opening scenes, showcasing the rhythmic grooves and the bright colours. Then the dancers come out, bringing freelance interspersed with some choreography. They're in time to the beat throughout, showcasing the song even more.
The performance piece of J Balvin and Willy William is on fire. They show their energy and what they would be like on stage. Just imagine seeing them live! They perform on a bus and in a club, and J Balvin even does some choreographed foot work. There's also a lot of fire and smoke when night draws in, with a football and a bicycle both on fire.
As the end comes closer, we watch similar visuals from the opening, but in reverse. Either there's a burst of colour, editing that removes colour, and splitting the visuals of the dancers in half - which they don't even try to make look real.
Overall the song totally makes this video, and it's that beat that has got us all addicted. The visual itself isn't anything special; although, it's good to see J Balvin and Willy William performing the track, showing exactly how they do it on stage. They're definitely people we wouldn't want to miss at a festival. The burst of colour is refreshing too and sure will brighten up the music channels.
Where did this one come from? Like, seriously? It's just crept into the top ten of the UK Singles Chart at number eight, which is its highest peak to date. This week's number one is Dua Lipa's "New Rules" which I reviewed last week, therefore opening the top ten today's Chart Mondays review. I'm actually surprised I haven't written about this video yet. My problem with this is that Bebe Rexha is only featured on the track, whereas her involvement makes it much more like a collaboration and so I feel like it should be Louis Tomlinson & Bebe Rexha, especially since they both appear in the music video as much as each other and she even starts the track off. Louis Tomlinson is best known for being one-fifth/one-fourth of One Direction, who are on hiatus as they all focus on their solo music careers. All the members have gone in completely different genres of music, yet they are all performing well when it comes to the charts. This is Louis Tomlinson's second single to date and it's done moderately well on charts around the world - it's certainly a grower of a song. He's also made his mark in the football world, having played for Doncaster on non-contract terms; he has also played in charity football matches. Featured on this track is Bebe Rexha, real name Bleta Rexha; she's an American singer who has been building up her career for a few years. She's definitely one who likes to impress and will continue to build her name and reputation. She's had quite a few hits to date in collaborations, but it's about time she had a solo hit. Also featured is Digital Farm Animals, real name Nicholas Gale, who is a British DJ. He has worked with a lot of big names so far; yet, this song is his biggest hit to date. I expect we'll be hearing more of him in the future. The song was written by Louis Tomlinson, Nicholas James Gale, Pablo Bowman, Richard Boardman, and Sarah Blanchard.
Directed by Craig Moore, this music video is a pure performance visual that doesn't add anything to the song - in my opinion. I feel that the video doesn't go anywhere and doesn't attract the audience in pressing that replay button.
Kicking the song and the video off is Bebe Rexha, she's in Doncaster with Louis Tomlinson, but they don't meet up until much later in the video. As for Louis, he's walking around the streets of Doncaster, showcasing the back alleys and the streets. He comes across a kid, they play football together and Louis kicks the ball into the goal - poor kid.
The video continues with some cute shots of these two singers together. From Keepmoat Stadium to them performing on a couch in an alley. There's also a café shot which is where Louis Tomlinson starts to sing; as well as a pool club venue, where you can see both singers with cues.
Overall, this video goes nowhere, it doesn't keep the audience interested and Bebe Rexha practically pulls Louis Tomlinson through this performance. He seems really down, which doesn't sit right considering the song is supposed to be a light-hearted track. There is down bits about the song but there's also nice bits too, and I just feel Louis Tomlinson fails to bring the emotion across for the song in the visual. It's slightly relatable though, and it showcases his love for football.
I've nearly reviewed this music video a couple of times since it's been on my YouTube recommendations for weeks; however, I'm not a fan of Dua Lipa and haven't really enjoyed her music she has released previously but OMG this song is pure fire and the music video is a killer in every way. I saw her perform at Birmingham Pride - check out my reviews of the event on Fuzzable, Fox & Squirrel Photography, and Electric Mode. Yet, this video just puts her as an iconic figure in the music industry and I can't wait to see what the future brings for her, especially as this song is rising to the top of the UK Chart, where it deserves to be. At the moment "Feels" by Calvin Harris featuring Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry & Big Sean is at the top, knocking off that Spanglish song we all know and love. This one is set to rise but is currently at number five. Dua Lipa first came on the scene through YouTube after she posted covers of her favourite songs - this is usually where talent is spotted nowadays, let's be honest. This female singer has proven her worth as she continues to bring out chart hits and has worked her way up to the top. Her collaboration with Sean Paul on "No Lie" definitely boosted her fame around the world. This song is my favourite from her to date, even if today was the first time I've seen the video - now I can't stop watching. The song was written by Caroline Ailin, Emily Warren, and Ian Kirkpatrick.
Directed by Henry Scholfield, this music video is a pure performance profile visual from start to finish. The inspiration came from a Naomi Campbell photo shoot with Versace, where she's on the back of another woman - it reference women looking out for each other and this music video is exactly that.
From the very start, we see Dua Lipa considering her ex whilst she's in the hotel room, but as the music video continues we see her confidence as the pre-chorus is repeated - which we totally love. The second take she is styled sexily and agrees with her girls whilst singing along, whereas the first take she's ready to take that guy back.
They head to the pool and she is fierce completely because she's told her new rules to herself again and again. As the third pre-chorus comes along, she's telling the exact same advice her friends told her to another friend who is trying to make the same decision she was.
It's a brilliant music video with plenty of stuff going on. Dua Lipa proves that she has everything going for her and that she's meant to be this massive force within the music industry - and boy does she not disappoint. This music video is everything and will be one we will continue to remember years later.
This was a totally hot team up! Sigala and Ella Eyre were meant to collaborate on a song together. "Came Here For Love" is full of that summer DJ sound which encompasses the warmth of this season. This song has been hanging around the top ten for a while, and since Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee has made it to their 11th non-consecutive week at the top of the UK Charts with "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber, I thought I'd review this one since I don't see it hanging around for long. Watch Ella Eyre perform at the colourful Las Palmitas for this Sigala music video for the song "Came Here For Love" which infuses summer in every way.
Sigala, real name Bruce Fielder, continues to bring out amazing songs after amazing songs. They've all managed to chart well around the world. He has helped to launch careers whilst collaborating with big names in the industry. He promised that an album will be released in the future, and we still wait for that day, even after his eight lead singles. "Came Here For Love" is in collaboration with Ella Eyre, real name Ella McMahon. She's one of these singers who do well with features and does all right by herself but she is someone who deserves so much more credibility. This song, much like her other collaborations, has launched her right back into the spotlight, and she needs to ride this wave once again; and, hopefully, succeed in staying in the limelight once and for all, otherwise she might not get another chance. This song was written by Bruce Fielder, Ella McMahon, Cédric Steinmyller, Bryn Christopher, and Scott Wild.
This music video was directed by Craig Moore and set in the Las Palmitas neighbourhood in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. It's truly colourful and beautiful; a perfect setting for this video.
There's not a lot going on in the visual, Ella Eyre fits in well with the location due to her fashion choices that suit her completely. The rest of the video pretty much showcases this beautiful neighbourhood.
Other scenes relate to the song perfectly, showing off couples interacting with each other to the extent that we feel the message that Ella Eyre is portraying - even if I don't want to. If you have read my previous blog post on Brandon Stansell's "Slow Down", you'll understand how I'm feeling at the moment.
Overall, this music video definitely captures the summer spirit within a beautiful place. It's not all that much of a memorable video as they focus on the neighbourhood itself rather than any sort of narration but it does keep the audience interested in watching more.
She is back on top form, Rita Ora's "Your Song" is so good. It didn't impact the UK chart immediately, but soon made a steady climb; however, it's currently stalled at number seven and isn't able to beat its peak. It looks like it will decline in the next few weeks, but being inside the top ten is still a good peak position. Currently, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee is at number one with "Despacito" which features Justin Bieber, hence why I'm reviewing this song today. Watch Rita Ora walk backwards through her day as she thinks about the kiss goodbye she gave to this guy, whilst everyone else's day go forwards in this music video for "Your Song".
Rita Ora recently got away from her record label through a settlement and she is now gearing up to release her second studio album which this, we presume, is her lead single. She has hit it big in the UK and the US, and even judged and coached on rival TV shows The X Factor and The Voice UK. We've been waiting patiently for new music and when we finally got it, it gradually grew on us all. "Your Song" has done all right globally, charting high in many countries, although it does deserve better placings. It was written by Ed Sheeran and Steve Mac.
Directed by Michael Haussman, the music video shows Rita Ora thinking of the goodbye kiss she gave to a guy last night; whilst everyone else's day goes forwards, her day goes backwards, back to the place and the time she kissed that guy goodbye.
The first time I saw this, I thought Rita Ora looked like Khloe Kardashian; she still does in this video, it's because of the way her hair has been styled and because of her makeup, which is on-point throughout. The opening scene sees her in a meeting in an office building, where she's the only woman.
We watch various scenes which see Rita Ora going backwards, which includes driving a car in reverse too - which looks completely awesome. It all leads back to the goodbye kiss - it is adorable.
Overall, it's a great music video and in-depth, yet not something we expected when we first heard this song. It's intricate and interesting, I like how some of the scenes are clearly in rewind as she is actually going forwards, but then there are also times when it's clear she's actually walking backwards. It's quite confusing. This is becoming more and more common with music videos at the moment, and will no doubt become a phase.

Once again, it's DJ Khaled, only this time he didn't need the help of Justin Bieber to rise to the top; instead, this is a collaboration with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. However, it is set to be a one-week number one as "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber plans to climb to the top once again - summer is truly here. Rihanna totally shines on the track but in the video, she doesn't have her star quality and something is certainly missing. Watch DJ Khaled, Rihanna & Bryson Tiller perform "Wild Thoughts" in Little Haiti, Miami, Florida, amongst the streets and up in the sky in this music video for the song which is the current UK number one.
DJ Khaled, real name Khaled Mohamed Khaled, has really turned into an international star after "I'm The One" charted all over the world, and now he is continuing his success with hit single after hit single. DJ Khaled is seriously becoming someone everyone wants to collaborate with and I am excited to see what killer songs he is going to release next. On this track is Rihanna, real name Robyn Rihanna Fenty, who needs no introduction... You'd have had to be living under the biggest rock in the world to not know who she is; however, her latest songs haven't impacted the chart that well and aren't all that catchy, in my opinion. I do miss her club hits from years ago, nothing can top "Don't Stop The Music". Then there's also Bryson Tiller on this track too. This is the first time he has charted inside the UK Top 40 and at the top too, opening the UK public to his music, although his albums have charted well to date. The song incorporates a sample from "Maria Maria" by Santana, hence the long list of songwriters; who are DJ Khaled, PartyNextDoor, Bryson Tiller, Rihanna, Raul Rekow, David Mcrae, Marvin Moore-Hough, Carlos Santana, Karl Perazzo, Wyclef Jean, and Jerry "Wonder" Duplessis.
Directed by Colin Tilley - one of the top music video directors around at the moment - the music video was filmed in Little Haiti, Miami, Florida. It's mainly a performance piece as Rihanna is fierce throughout whilst DJ Khaled takes the spotlight at times and Bryson Tiller remains in the background in some interestingly visual profile shots.
The start sees DJ Khaled and Rihanna walking down the street; interspersed with shots of people at an event, enjoying the music. She acts confident and sassy during her walk and even does some dancing with DJ Khaled.
Next, we see her wearing a floaty blue dress which certainly doesn't flatter her at all, in a bedroom. Her clothing for this music video is very relaxed and chilling; it doesn't scream high fashion and probably explains why she doesn't shine throughout the video.
For his part, Bryson Tiller brings it in the song, but he also doesn't shine enough during his visual. Bryson Tiller and Rihanna do bring wild thoughts but it's just not enough there to entertain the audience. Apart from the gorgeous performance ending, that sees all three artists on a block as fireworks light up the sky behind them - which is a brilliant scene although that's to do with the concept and not the artists themselves - the music video just doesn't keep the audience interested and this just feels like another music video to mix in with all the other average ones out there.
This is one of those sorts of songs that grow on you. I've heard this song so many times now that I've started to like it; yet, at the same time, I'm still not going to be a fan of this track. I wish it wasn't in the Top Ten of the UK Singles Chart, just so I don't have to review it (yeah, I had two other options, but this one is more likely to drop out sooner than the other options I had today); since Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber is still on top with "Despacito", I kind of had no option. This video has all the coloured filters you can imagine and want, distorting reality yet keeping it real. Watch Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Big Sean perform "Feels" on what looks like a tropical island, as Calvin Harris rocks up in the background with a guitar as colour distortion switches up this music video!
Calvin Harris, real name Adam Wiles, has really come a long way since his debut and is absolutely bringing it when it comes to music; his latest album is all collaborations, showing off his producing side, which we've seen before; however, I truly believe we prefer his own vocal music, as that is what soars him up the chart, in some cases. Regardless, he continues to be a top DJ that we continue to love. Featured on this track is Pharrell Williams, who has also been bringing it over the past few years; he's definitely a solid performer and vocalist, one everyone wishes to collaborate with one day. Katy Perry also appears on this track; real name Katy Hudson, she's quickly pushed herself up there with the top female singers of the world. And then there's Big Sean, real name Sean Anderson, the rapper who comes in and out of mainstream music and also manages to stay on top form. This is one heck of a collaboration, it's just a shame that this song is a grower and not an instant catchy hit, but it's one that stays in our head annoyingly. It was written by Adam Wiles, Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry, Brittany Hazzard, and Sean Anderson.
Directed by Emil Nava - here's his name again, definitely an in-demand music video director - this visual is taking colour distortion to the next level; pretty much using every colour filter imaginable to not only infuse summer but to show that colour doesn't matter.
All three vocal artists nail this performance piece, but I feel that there isn't a lot for them to do, and there's more focus on the colour, making us blink so much that we practically miss what they're doing; not that they're able to do much since Pharrell Williams is trapped in a boat in the middle of a lake surrounded by sand; Katy Perry is lying down in the grass with a bright yellowy/orange dress that is unflattering on her, hiding away; and, as for Big Sean, he's sitting down on a chair as if he's the King of this tropical island, but he can't embody his lyrics because of his two parrot side-kicks, that totally steal the show.
There's just not an awful lot going on in this music video. The colour transforming filters can either capture the audience or turn them away, and since they stick with this idea, everything else loses focus and gets sent into the background.
Overall, this music video deserved to be better, it embraces summer and goes over the top with colour filters - it's literally the only thing I can comment on. It's interesting to an extent and we all want to visit that place, but it's not awesome at all.

"Despacito" by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber is still reigning supreme at number one - without an official music video, come on guys, just make one, please! It, therefore, opens the top ten to my review and this one has managed to sneak in at number nine, and it doesn't look like it'll drop out anytime soon since the Cheat Codes & Cades remix has boosted this up the chart. Watch Maggie Lindemann sing about not being just a "Pretty Girl" and therefore getting in an argument and later arrested in this music video for her hit song that everyone is talking about.
Maggie Lindemann, believe it or not, was discovered by her manager by singing on her Instagram profile. This launched her career and she has been building it up ever since. She has a total of four singles behind her to date, with this one being her most successful and the only one that has charted; it is also her most recent, so it'll be interesting to see if she manages to follow it up. More surprisingly, the song hasn't charted in her home country of the US; although, it has charted well in many other countries and has totally become a global sensation. Best charting figures include number two in Italy, number four in Scotland and Sweden, number six in Ireland and Belgium, and number eight in Norway; as well as its current position of number nine in the UK. This could all be down to the Cheat Codes & Cades remix which is extremely popular. The song was written by Maggie Lindemann, Sasha Sloan, and Sean Myer.
Directed by Roman White, the music video is intricate and has both a narrative and a performance visual; keeping the viewers interested from the get-go. Also kudos for the LGBT+ representation, it's so nice to see that this is becoming the norm and slowly but surely music videos will be much more inclusive - or so we hope.
Of the music video, Maggie Lindemann said: "'Pretty Girl' was inspired by my experiences growing up on social media and being constantly judged and underestimated based on the superficial, which is something I think a lot of girls are going through right now." She went on to say: "Being on the set of 'Pretty Girl' with all of the amazing girls was so much fun, just hanging out and getting into trouble. We had a good time and I think it shows, especially in the shots outside where we got to be a bit sassier."
They certainly do bring the sass towards the end, and I loved the licking of her middle finger to the guys before shocking us all when she spills her milkshake on the car - oops! This leads into an argument on the street, where police get involved and Maggie Lindemann and her girls get arrested.
It's definitely a fun music video and it certainly comes across that way, but they also bring up a valid and important point throughout the visual. Just because a girl looks pretty, whether that is online or out on the street, they shouldn't be subjected to certain comments - many people in the world can understand the feelings behind this song, whether their guys or girls. It's very real and it's so good that this music video incorporates the song in every way.
Yet again, the number one of the UK singles chart has been claimed by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee with "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber - which still doesn't have a music video, yet; so this opens up my Chart Mondays review, and I have been dying to review this one. Another One Direction solo debut single, and this one is totally a jam of mine. I'm literally claiming it as my favourite solo material from the guys, and I'm totally looking forward to Liam Payne's future releases because I never expected that his musical route would be totally up my street. Watch Liam Payne perform his debut single "Strip That Down" alongside Quavo in a neon-lit room, segmented with an on-fire dance group who nails brilliant choreography throughout this music video.
Liam Payne, in case you didn't know, was one-fifth/one-fourth of One Direction before their hiatus. This single managed to peak on the UK chart at number three, but now it's slowly heading down the top ten, and will probably drop out completely by Friday, or the Friday after. Featured on this track is Quavo, real name Quavious Marshall, who is mostly known for being one-third of hip-hop group Migos, as well as featuring on DJ Khaled's "I'm The One" alongside Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne, and Chance the Rapper. This song is beyond catchy and works perfectly. It samples Shaggy's hit song "It Wasn't Me", which itself samples War's "Smile Happy" which explains the long list of songwriters. "Strip That Down" was written by Liam Payne, Steve Mac, Ed Sheeran, Quavious Marshall, Orville Burrell, Rickardo Ducent, Shaun Pizzonia, Brian Thompson, Sylvester Allen, Harold Ray Brown, Morris Dickerson, Le Roy Lonnie Jordan, Charles William Miller, Lee Oskar, and Howard E. Scott.
Directed by Emil Nava - another popular music video director - the music video is a pure performance visual. It has two main parts, Liam Payne and Quavo singing the song, and a dance performance from a dance troupe.
As for the performance visual, Liam Payne is trying to look sultry and sexy, but he just looks like he is not enjoying this at all - maybe that sunbed room is too hot for him? He seriously looks lost without his band mates beside him. In the song, he mentions how he is having fun, yet he fails to send that across the viewers; and, apart from the one smile that takes up a few seconds of this music video, there is no enjoyment from him in this music video whatsoever.
As for Quavo, he tries not to overshadow the ex-One Direction member, and he doesn't do half a bad job. Yet, it's this amazing dance troupe, with the killer choreography that grabs the music video entirely. However, I am not so keen on the black and white contrasting with the very colourful neon room. Overall, this just doesn't work. I feel there was an attempt to make this sexy in every way, but Liam Payne looks bored out of his mind, more than anything else. There is a very long silent intro, that definitely lined up the tragic music video. The dance troupe pretty much saves this disaster of a video. However, the song will still continue to be a jam of mine, and I cannot wait for Liam Payne's future music; it's just a shame about the video.

The song was originally sung by Simon & Garfunkel where their "Bridge Over Troubled Water" also hit number one in the UK. The song has been covered by many, my favourite being Hear'Say. The song was written by Paul Simon. All proceeds of this version of the song that Syco Music and Sony Music receive will be donated to the London Community Foundation and distributed by them to those affected by the fire.
The music video is a typical charity single music video, that showcases the Artists For Grenfell in the studio, recording the song; whilst clips of the devastating events after the fire are shown in segments. This is really nothing new and, as usual, the artists are shown in black and white, which doesn't add anything to this music video, apart from contrast.
Stormzy fully encompasses the song at the start, clearly adding something new to this song and making it unique. The sights we watch are completely saddening, and something like this could've happened to any one of us or one of our family members.
Overall, the video captures the devastation of the Grenfell Tower fire. I'm not so keen on the studio visuals of the artists as we've seen this sort of thing a thousand times before. As a whole, it totally deserves to be number one, and I'm glad that the public has done their part by buying the charity single to help all these sufferers.
This is certainly set to become one of 2017's summer hits, for sure. It's already racking up chart numbers around the world, and Jonas Blue has done it all over again. Today is a Monday, which means it's Chart Mondays, and still at the top is Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee with "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber, which doesn't have an official music video, and I doubt it will since there is one out already that doesn't feature Justin Bieber. Hence why I'm reviewing this music video by Jonas Blue, featuring William Singe. The song is certainly catchy with brilliant vocals; yet, the lyrics themselves definitely reminds me of Sunstroke Project's "Hey, Mamma!"; the message behind both songs is pretty similar. Watch William Singe give a great performance whilst he and Jonas Blue have fun with their respective girls in sunny Albania during this music video that oozes summer for "Mama".
Jonas Blue is a DJ and producer who's real name is Guy James Robin; he did a DJ set at Birmingham Pride 2017, which I am now gutted I missed because this song is a complete tune! He has quickly become one of the British DJs to watch out for, as each of his singles hit it big on charts around the world. To date, "Fast Car", is his biggest hit, but he easily followed that up with "Perfect Strangers". Regardless, his latest single is my favourite song from him, totally catchy and it definitely has summer vibes going on throughout. "Mama" may not blow up as big as his other singles, but it more than deserves to. It features William Singe, real name Liam Singe, who is an Australian singer, songwriter, and producer. He's most notable for being in the boy band The Collective, who had major success in Australia due to being formed on the fourth season of The X Factor Australia - finishing third. The group disbanded after three years when William Singe left the group to pursue a solo career. He released his debut single "Rush" in February 2017, and I truly believe this song will push him to become a successful artist as his vocals and style are on point. This song was written by Jonas Blue, Ed Drewett, and Sam Romans.
The music video was directed by Sasha Nathwani along the coastlines of Jale and Dhermi on the Albanian Riviera. It also stars Albanian supermodel, Oriola Marashi as Jonas Blue's love interest; she can also sing opera, and can clearly be an actress as this music video suggests.
The song is about being carefree and the music video easily showcases this, taking us back to the times when we go on holiday abroad and do the things we love to do. The narrative isn't as developed as it could be, and the shady deal scene seems totally out of place.
As for the performance piece, William Singe really nails it. He sends out energetic vibes that draw the viewers in. Unfortunately, we see more of the flimsy narrative, than the William Singe's performance.
The music video as a whole definitely attains to the song's summer sound and it's carefree nature of the lyrics; however, I feel that the storyline isn't complete and that they could have done so much more with this. On the other hand, just look at the single artwork below, pretty friken amazing!
I could've sworn I had already reviewed this music video, but it turns out that I haven't; which I guess is lucky since it is in the UK Top 10 Singles Chart, this week - although I did expect it to launch to the top of the chart; but, Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee is still holding onto the number one position with "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber, which doesn't have a music video just yet. Every time I watch this music video I'm pretty sure I've reviewed it, I have that sort of recollection of writing about it, but I don't see a review on my blog. Oh well, here's one right now! Watch Ariana Grande in an apocalypse-type music video transporting the viewers into the visual for "One Last Time".
Ariana Grande has really come a long way from when she played Cat in Victorious and later in spin-off show Sam & Cat on Nickelodeon. Now she's a pop princess, totally becoming one of the biggest female artists in the world. Most-recently she made headlines when a terrorist attack targeted her concert in Manchester. Deciding not to let fear rule, she decided to host a benefit concert, with this song becoming the charity single for the We Love Manchester Emergency Fund. She managed to get many great artists to come together and perform on stage. If you didn't know who she was before this concert, you sure know of her now. The single has been out for some time, but the heartbreaking lyrics and the fact the song was the last song performed at her gig in Manchester before the fatal attack definitely made it the perfect song to become the charity single. It was written by David Guetta, Savan Kotecha, Giorgio Tuinfort, Rami Yacoub, and Carl Falk.
Directed by Max Landis and features Ariana Grande's Victorious co-star Matt Bennett. It has the end of the world feel to it as a comet comes crashing down to Earth, obliterating everything and everyone. To be fair, it's not the best music video considering the attack in Manchester, but this visual was released years before anything like this had happened.
As a whole this is almost a movie in itself; it certainly has a Cloverfield affect to it. It definitely transports the viewers into this film-like scene. We see comets flying through the sky as we watch Ariana Grande running all over the place, taking us to the top of a skyscraper. Along the way, we see some sights such as victims, gun problems, computer scary guy who attacks Ariana Grande and us; as well as firefighters, and a family huddling together.
On the rooftop, the sky is alive with comets falling to Earth. Ariana Grande grabs the cameraman, who happens to be her love interest, actor Matt Bennett, and hugs him as the biggest comet comes down and destroys the world.
Overall it's a great music video and definitely worthy of awards; however, I'm slightly disappointed that whenever we see Ariana Grande's face, she isn't singing the song. That's just a little annoying thing to this music video. It feels more like a scene from a film or a TV show than an actual music video, so it is disappointing. But, it works overall and totally relates to the song. It's definitely an unforgettable music video and completely deserves this rating.
Time for my Chart Mondays review, and still at number one is "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber; which has now broken the record for the longest reigning foreign language number one in UK chart history. Since there isn't a music video for the Justin Bieber version, it opens up the UK top ten to my Chart Mondays review; where I chose this one since it looks like it will be dropping out this Friday, There was certainly a buzz about this video when it was released, and it is very hot and sensual, which is something new from Charlie Puth; but it's all been done before and it's nothing new. Watch Charlie Puth sing about a woman who is tantalising and wants him back, but she keeps messing with his head and he doesn't want that in this music video for "Attention".
Charlie Puth first came onto the scene in a collaboration with Wiz Khalifa, titled "See You Again" that scored him his first number one in the UK. Now he just can't stop banging out hit after hit after hit, bringing it completely. His music has never stayed in one lane, always managing to switch it up. This one shows a sexy adult side to him, a much more mature sound. It's not a surprise that it peaked in the UK top ten, but it looks like he'll drop out by Friday. This song was written by Charlie Puth and Jacob Kasher.
Directed by Emil Nava, the music video features actress and model Samara Weaving as Charlie Puth's love interest. There's a full narrative with a performance piece set within.
We watch Charlie Puth and Samara Weaving at a club, she's wearing a stunning red dress, It's tantalising and definitely attention-grabbing, as Charlie Puth suggests in the song itself; however, he doesn't want to give her attention because he's done with her, she only wants him when she wants, and that's not relationship material at all.
The music video progresses to her coming over to his place and smashing things up. There is a comical bit when a vase bounces instead of breaking. The visual continues where Charlie Puth is on a bed and she walks over scandalously in her underwear, but he doesn't even look at her. What a way to send her packing.
Overall, this relates perfectly well with the song. I feel more could've been done to make this video epic, and it's quite lack-lusting since this sort of video has been done a few times before. Charlie Puth doesn't exude performance vibes and it's quite disappointing as a whole. The ending is brilliant, as we hear how the concept of the song came about, it literally appeared in his head and he had to record it on his phone. Amazing!
Time to do my Chart Mondays music review, and Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber is still on top of the UK music charts with "Despacito". The Justin Bieber version doesn't have a music video, unfortunately, therefore opening up the UK top 10 to my review and it looks like Harry Styles will be dropping out next week. The last time I watched this music video was when I had to review it for Outlet Magazine. I am not that into this song or its music video; actually, I don't really like Harry Styles or any of the other One Direction members, and I usually stay away from their music as a whole. But here he is now, making his solo debut on my blog. Watch Harry Styles take to the skies in his solo debut music video for "Sign Of The Times".
Harry Styles is best known for being one-fifth, or one-fourth of One Direction, who came third on the seventh series of The X Factor. He launched his solo career with this song and soon followed it up with an album and promotional instant-grat singles. His sort of music is very different to those of the One Direction days, and it really isn't my thing. This song did reach number one but didn't have a music video at the time. As of now, it's sitting at number ten on the UK Singles Chart. It was written by Alex Salibian, Jeff Bhasker, Harry Styles, Tyler Johnson, Ryan Nasci, and Mitch Rowland.
Directed by Woodkid, the music video was set in Isle of Sky in Scotland. It doesn't exactly relate to the song, but seeing Harry Styles soar into the sky is something new and interesting.
There are various stunning imagery used throughout. There was a green screen used, as well as a stunt double; both of which is fairly obvious and unexpected.
Favourite scenes especially include when he runs on the water, and when the invisible helicopter creates the ring around him, on the water. It was clearly thought out well, and they made it totally work in more ways than one.
Overall, it's extremely simple but was risky. It stands out from other music videos as it's not at all typical. Yet, there's no substance to it, he doesn't look that eloquent up there in the sky; he should've been like the people who fly on Dancing on Ice; instead, he's just floating in the sky, doing nothing spectacular.

This hit song from Ed Sheeran looks like it's about to drop out on Friday, especially with it currently being at number ten, so I thought I'd choose this song, plus I've never seen the music video before today - don't ask me how I've managed not to see it as I don't even know myself. Ed Sheeran has hit the world by storm with his latest album. This song, in particular, charted the highest from his latest album out of all the album tracks, so it's understandable that it was chosen as the next single and the next music video since it was so popular. Records have been broken with this album, and Ed Sheeran continues to dominate the charts globally. He's one of the biggest male artists in the world at the moment, and he will keep on succeeding. This song charted at number two in the UK before dropping down to its current position of number ten. It was written by Ed Sheeran, Amy Wadge, Damian McKee, Eamon Murray, Johnny McDaid, Liam Bradley, Niamh Dunne, Sean Graham, and Foy Vance.
Directed by Jason Koenig with Ed Sheeran shooting the video himself, this music video truly puts the viewers in Ed Sheeran's shoes and show an Irish Galway Girl, played by Saoirse Ronan, taking Ed Sheeran around Galway.
The opening scene sees Ed Sheeran finish his concert in Galway, Ireland. We watch Ed Sheeran walk off stage and the camera follows him, then goes right through his head and it's as if we're looking out his eyes. We follow a guy into a car who takes us to a bar named O'Connell's.
At the bar, we bump into Saoirse Ronan, who takes us up to the dancefloor to dance. She takes us out to the street, but then a clip sees us playing darts in exact relation to the lyrics. We (or should we say Ed Sheeran) throws a dart at the dartboard without looking (keeping his/our eyes on Saoirse Ronan), and accidentally stabs a guy with the dart - luckily he's wearing a big coat, so it's okay. We run away, out into the streets.
We see some Irish dancers in the street who ask Ed Sheeran to sign a magazine, before showing him their dancing - with the help of Saoirse Ronan. We then watch a busker who we give some money to. Then Ed Sheeran (us) goes on a bike ride in the middle of the night with this Galway Girl. Where we end up at a tattoo shop and Ed Sheeran gets "Galway Grill" inked on his arm.
Next, towards the end, we enter an underground bar. It's refreshing to see Saoirse Ronan so full of life, and we're enjoying being there, being Ed Sheeran. We get two pints from the bar - we can only presume it's Guinness right? - and as we head back to the Galway Girl, we spill our drinks over a guy; that guy, just so happens to be the guy we threw a dart at. Trust Ed Sheeran to have this much bad luck. We get punched in the face by the guy and wake up at Saoirse Ronan's place. Now that's how you get with Saoirse Ronan!
The ending sees them go out onto a roof window balcony and the camera flies away. We are no longer Ed Sheeran. I love how they include the problems with being famous - which Ed Sheeran has talked about recently, wishing he could go back to a normal life without all the paparazzi and the fame. This video is unique, different and completely relates to the song. Once again, Ed Sheeran has brought another amazing music video to our screens.
It's Chart Mondays again, and breaking up my Eurovision Song Contest 2017 Special is French Montana and Swae Lee with "Unforgettable". Once again the UK top 10 is open to my Chart Mondays review since Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber is number one with "Despacito (Remix)", which doesn't have a music video; annoyingly, the original does but that is illegible to chart since the remix is what propelled it to number one, even though in the iTunes chart both tracks are in the top 10. Regardless, it has allowed me to watch this incredible music video, which I probably wouldn't have seen otherwise. Watch French Montana and Swae Lee perform in Uganda with a bunch of kids who have the biggest smiles and can dance better than all of us in this music video for "Unforgettable".
French Monatana, real name Karim Kharbouch, has quickly become an established hip-hop artist. He first came to my attention when he collaborated with Miley Cyrus on her most-recent album, he later topped the UK charts as a featured singer on will.i.am's "Feelin' Myself". Now he's made it all by himself, getting into the top ten with this song, which is actually really catchy. It's a collaboration with Swae Lee, real name Khalif Brown, who is mostly known for being in Rae Sremmund, who had a worldwide hit with "Black Beatles". Now, he's gone solo and he's doing an amazing job so far, especially featuring on this track and totally grabbing the spotlight in this music video. The song is currently at number eight in the UK; it was written by Karim Kharbouch, Khalif Brown, Michael L. Williams II, Christopher Washington, McCulloch Reid Sutphin, and Aujla Jagvir Singh.
Directed by Spliff TV & French Montana, the music video is a full-on performance piece, filmed in Kampala, Uganda. It's so endearing to see these children with massive smiles on their faces, dancing like they have no problems in their world.
As I previously mentioned, Swae Lee totally takes the spotlight in this music video, he exudes a confidence and a swag, totally stylish throughout out, the viewers are just drawn to him from the get-go; so much so that he makes this song look like his own. Regardless, French Montana gives as much as he can and doesn't fair too badly in the visual.
What really stands out are the kids, they know how to dance. Throughout, they're in-sync, totally nailing the choreography and dance sequences where they need to. It's so great to see them filled with so much joy in the video, especially since it's a place we don't hear from often, but we know that many African countries aren't doing so well.
Overall, kudos for French Montana truly showing Africa in a positive and energetic light. This is truly a remarkable and unforgettable music video, which definitely deserves the highest of ratings. It's one that will be embedded in my mind for years to come, and I will most definitely watch again and again.
Well, there's a whole reason why I've not seen this music video before now, and just watching this music video proves that it's not something I'm interested in watching. It's Chart Mondays today, and with DJ Khaled at the top of the chart with "I'm The One" which features Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper, and Lil Wayne; it opened the Top 10 to my music video review - this left me with two options, the other one is quoted as being the next song to rise to number one this Friday, so Jason Derulo's "Swalla" was really my only choice. Watch Jason Derulo surrounded by hot girls, along with Ty Dolla $ign, whilst Nicki Minaj acts sexily as usual, in this music video for "Swalla".
Jason Derulo, real name Jason Desrouleaux, is one of the top male artists in the world, and many of his hit songs have made their way up the chart, including grabbing some all-important number ones. Those hits were worth those chart positions, but this one just feels like it shouldn't be charting so well; yet, there's always songs out there like this that are just undeniably catchy and charts well globally, plus it's Jason Derulo, he can make hits no matter what he sings, but I don't like his new hair style. Collaborating with Ty Dolla $ign, real name Tyrone Griffin Jr., who literally only just started charting in the UK, thanks to Fifth Harmony's song "Work From Home", so it's nice to see him doing so well for himself. Then there's Nicki Minaj, real name Onika Maraj, who's just beyond amazing music wise, she's fully got to the top. She recently was paying fans' tuition fees, so kudos to her for her geniality and love of her fans. This was a killer collaboration, just a shame the song is "Swalla" - but people like it so it's okay. It was written by Jason Desrouleaux, Onika Maraj, Tyrone Griffin Jr,, Eric Frederic, Gamal Lewis, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Russell Jones, and Robert Diggs.
Directed by Gil Green, the music video is a typical sexed up video, which isn't a surprise since the song is about sex. Jason Derulo is surrounded by four girls wearing very little clothes, in one scene a woman is naked with paint all over her body - definitely art-worthy yet it looks more like an excuse to have it in the music video than anything else.
Each artist has their own segment in the music video, although Jason Derulo features the most since it is his song after all. He's visual is more focused on the dancing side, with the four girls he is with. He does impress with his dancing, and at one point he's the only one dancing. No one can deny his dance-ability and he nails it throughout, pulling off the choreography as if it was nothing.
As for Ty Dolla $ign, he doesn't add much to the track, let alone the music video. He's easily forgettable, as the focus is more on Jason Derulo during the segment. Whereas Nicki Minaj does what she does best. She shows off, grabbing the spotlight, and it fully works. If anything she's the one that stands our the most in this music video, looking sexy, stylish, and on form throughout. She brings it completely - enough to the point where both Jason Derulo and Ty Dolla $ign could be completely forgotten about. She slayed in this!
Overall, yes the video is relatable, and they switch it up by focusing heavily on the dancing aspect of the music video; but, it still feels like it's been done before. This is just another typical music video filled with girls. It's unimpressive, but at least Nicki Minaj helps this visual become better than it would've been if it was without her.
It's Chart Mondays, and it's surprising to see Clean Bandit at the top with "Symphony" featuring Zara Larsson. I never thought that song would make it to the top, but it managed to get up there, so congratulations. However, I have already reviewed it, so it opens the top 10 of the UK singles chart for today's review, hence why I have chosen Kendrick Lamar, as this song is currently at number 10, and most likely to drop out come Friday, it certainly won't be climbing the chart. I'm surprised it's at this chart position, and I have no idea how it managed to climb to number six last week. Hip-hop is certainly making an impact on the UK charts lately, Kendrick is just one of many who have managed to chart high. Watch this art-form of a music video as Kendrick Lamar totally brings it performance wise with some unforgettable camera techniques in the visual for his single "HUMBLE.".
Kendrick Lamar, real name Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, has been going for a number of years and has fully established himself as one of the biggest hip-hop artists around, yet he hasn't had a full-out hit single, not until this one came along; although, his 2015 album did hit number one in the UK, so we are aware of who he is, but this song is going to be the one song everyone identifies with his name. This one has such a humble message behind it (pun intended). If it weren't for his collaboration with Taylor Swift on "Bad Blood" he may not have been as internationally known as he is; although he has had a range of all-right chart successes before then. Yet, it's this one that has had a major impact globally. It was written by Kendrick Duckworth and Michael Williams II.
Directed by Dave Meyer and The Little Homies, this music video is an art form as many have stated. It's a pure performance visual from Kendrick Lamar, parodying iconic scenes and giving a real take on the world from his perspective.
The first scene sees him dressed as the pope in a cope; before, totally switching it up where he can be seen lying down on dollar bills, shooting them out from a cash cannon. Other scenes including the reenactment of Leonardo da Vinci's The Last Supper, as well as using a fisheye camera for one scene, and using cross-over visuals to show the difference between photoshop and not.
There are also scenes that mimic a Grey Poupon commercial, as well as a scene where his head is on fire along with the other actors in the scene. Not only that, but rapper Jay Rock and producer Sounwave both appear in this video too.
Overall, Kendrick Lamar has, yet again, given us a brilliant video that easily accompanies the song. It relates to the song effortlessly and easily showcases him, not just as a singer, but as an artist. He goes above and beyond for this video, fully transforming his ideas and the song itself, into this incredibly thought-out video.
We all saw this coming, especially since last week I didn't have a music video to review for Chart Mondays, yet the day after this video got dropped, which was slightly frustrating, why couldn't they have released it last Monday? Regardless, I might've struggled this week, so guess it goes in roundabouts and circles. Ed Sheeran has climbed back to the top of the UK Singles Chart with "Shape Of You" as he's UK Tour kicks off, which opens the Top 10 to my Chart Mondays review. I'm so glad this stayed in the top 10 so I could review it today. It's such a catchy song and it'll be in my head for the rest of the day, no doubt. Watch Zedd & Alessia Cara prove that just one small thing can change everything in this music video for their new song "Stay".
Zedd, real name Anton Zaslavski, has had a phenomenal career to date and has really proven himself as one of the top DJs in the world. This collaboration is just another hit of his. The only thing is that people may get this song confused with another single of his called "Stay The Night" which featured Hayley Williams from Paramore, due to the fact that the titles are very similar. Regardless, the song is another killer and is definitely a song I love hearing in the clubs. The song is a global success, which isn't such a surprise since it has combined Zedd's fans with Alessia Cara's. Real name Alessia Caracciolo, she has been slowly establishing her career, with this song being her highest charting single to date on the UK chart. The song was written by Zedd, Linus Wiklund, Alessia Caracciolo, Anders Frøen, Sarah Aarons, and Jonnali Mikaela Parmenius.
Directed by Tim Mattia, the music video relates to the song easily. It features a lot of back and forth scenes which are similar to that of Instagram's boomerang videos. This effect has been used a number of times in music videos, including Inna's "Gimme Gimme".
We see Zedd and Alessia Cara go about their day; they almost share an elevator but Zedd just misses out. Alessia Cara sits at a café pouring lots of sugar into her hot drink; whilst Zedd plays pool.
We watch a lot of, what I'm calling, boomerang scenes that are all in time with the music, yet as the music video progresses we see Zedd managing to get to the elevator in time. This totally changes the day, which sees Zedd and Alessia Cara spend their days together; and what a lovely couple they make.
It just shows that one small little thing can change your entire day, yet another small thing happens... Zedd doesn't look where he is going and walks into the road, backwards; subsequently getting hit by a car. A distraught Alessia Cara can be seen crying. It just shows that time can be short
It's a great emotional music video, that easily relates to the song. Zedd and Alessia Cara both look stunning in the visual, fully embracing their characters and portrayal of the song. It works well and definitely something I could watch again and again.
It's been a while since this has happened, and although technically one of these top 10 has dropped a music video, they dropped it on Tuesday 18th April, and I'm writing this catch-up blog for 17th April since it's a Chart Monday, so as much as I want to review that new music video, I can't.
So instead, there is no Chart Monday today. Surprisingly it's not Ed Sheeran at the top, although he is still dominating with three entries inside the Top 10 UK Singles Chart. I really do need to sort this out and twist up my Chart Mondays since they aren't really working all that well.
Again, there isn't much of a change in the top 10, and this could be down to Spotify and other streaming sites. I admit that I did like the idea of including streams, but now I'm hating on them because of my Chart Mondays not working out the way I want them to. Here are the songs in the top 10...
