After reviewing this song for Outlet Magazine, I had to go into depth about the music video on my blog. It has definitely become my favourite Hailee Steinfeld song to date, although I reckon that she'll manage to release more hits that I'm going to fall in love with. The song is an inspiring, uplifting song; it's a great spin on the concept, as many are preaching about how being different is good and not conforming to society; yet, Hailee Steinfeld wants to be confident, wants to be strong and beautiful, wants to go far and be unstoppable - just like most girls are. It's a brilliant twist, flooding minds around the world with positive energy, and it's wonderful to see. Watch Hailee Steinfeld act as different girls all aspiring to be like "Most Girls", becoming an inspiration to her fans and young people as a whole, in this music video.
Hailee Steinfeld first came to my attention in Pitch Perfect 2, and she has used this to launch herself in the acting and music world, completely dominating slowly but memorably. I'll definitely never forget her main role in the Edge of Seventeen, which she nailed completely. She has worked with some great names including Sigala and DNCE. This song is intended to be the lead single to her debut studio album. It has charted moderately well around the world, which just isn't good enough for me as she deserves so much more success with this inspiring song. It was written by Hailee Steinfeld, Ryan Tedder, Zach Skelton, Jeremy Dussolliet, Tim Sommers, and Asia Whiteacre.
Directed by Hannah Lux Davis - seriously the most in-demand music video director around at the moment - the music video sees Hailee Steinfeld in various acting scenes styling out the girls she is singing about; whilst also showcasing how they are feeling at that moment and are aspiring to be like most girls, not just some girls.
Hailee Steinfeld channels various looks in this music video, each one showing off a totally different personality trait. We have the sporty girl (who is a boxer); we have posh girl (who is glam and rides in the back of a limousine); we have book-lover girl (who spends all day reading books); we have purple-haired artist (who has a team behind her); and performance shots of Hailee Steinfeld herself, as well as with her girls - all of whom are wearing tops with words of strength on them. Almost hitting the Spice Girls personality traits - almost. She's ironically showing off most girls, but not all girls look like that. These are the people who have beauty on the inside, but she also looks incredible on the outside.
She's received a lot of flack for this little tidbit, but I feel that this is how she is expressing them on the inside. That these sort of people are actually her in different forms, that she's all of these girls inside of her, and this is why the music video works because she's just completely genuine whilst still doing everything that she likes to do. She can become anyone of these people because she is like most girls.
The opening and the ending is quite questioning. I love the start as we see Hailee Steinfeld and unknown mystery guy talk, where he tells her that she's not like most girls; well that was totally the wrong thing to say because she actually wants to be like most girls. Yet, the ending just baffles me because he is seen standing in front of nine TVs watching Hailee Steinfeld's music video, where she actually tells him that she wants to be like most girls. The ending scene just doesn't add properly into the visual.
Overall, I am still obsessed with this song, and it's such a shame it hasn't performed better on charts around the world. It's accompanying music video isn't, at all, anything like we expected. This should've been so much better, and even though delving deeper allows us to understand where she's coming from, it just doesn't come across well enough.
How have I not reviewed this yet? There just seems to be more and more music videos coming out and I can barely keep up. This is a brilliant collaboration, the song itself is full of club-vibes which totally make it my sort of track; however, the opening is a little too downbeat for my liking; it just doesn't excite me until the chorus kicks in. Even though it's rare for artists to join forces a second time, we're all hoping that they do. Watch Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato perform "No Promises" in what looks like a post-apocalyptic world, as the boys' logos and geometrical shapes emanate from within the visual of this music video.
Cheat Codes are an electronic dance trio from America, consisting of Trevor Dahl, KEVI (Kevin Ford), and Matthew Russell. They became famous after a collaboration with Kris Kross Amsterdam on the song "Sex", which certainly launched them globally. They've had a few great follow-up hits, this song being one of them - yet, they haven't managed to create the same success as before; although I bet it's not too far away. This collaboration sees them teaming up with Demi Lovato, who is certainly one of my favourite female singers around. She definitely helped the success of this single. She is currently working on new music, although it might be a wait until she releases her solo material since she has quite a few planned features being released with many top DJs. It's great to see her defining her sound and discovering new types of EDM music. This song has done moderately okay on the charts around the world, but it definitely deserves to climb up further; however, I truly believe the start of the song could be to blame for the okayish chart numbers. "No Promises" was written by Trevor Dahl, Matthew Russell, Kevin Ford, Demi Lovato, Ari Leff, and Loote.
The music video was directed by Hannah Lux Davis, the in-demand director. This has surprised me that she directed this video because I'm so used to something better; although, I reckon the visual idea behind this was awesome, and it was stripped back.
It's a full-out performance piece, and I was totally expecting chemistry between Demi Lovato and Trevor Dahl; but, instead of using Demi Lovato's acting skills brilliantly, they decide to focus on the camera, and making the audience see them. This just doesn't come off engagingly, and although these profile shots are intricate and gorgeous, it just doesn't work that much without the chemistry between the singers.
Demi Lovato steals the show completely. Her sexy scenes in the warehouse-like building are complete fire. She's channelling Clarke Griffin in every way (from The 100 TV show); it totally works with her surroundings.
Overall, this should've been polished perfection, much like many other Hannah Lux Davis-directed music videos; but, whether Cheat Codes and Demi Lovato don't get on, or they were just rushed with the whole visual, who knows. But, this clearly doesn't work as well as we all wish that it did. I also fail to see how it relates to the song exactly; however, Demi Lovato's fierce camera acting saves this from being a total disaster.
I'm so glad that Alexandra Stan has a new single out, and not only that, but it has been released on a Friday! This means I can review the music video for my New Release blog, which I am ecstatic about. Breaking away from Global Records and releasing her music on Alexandra Stan Records, "Boy Oh Boy" is planned to be the first single from her upcoming fourth studio album. I have previously reviewed the song and music video for CelebMix,. The song has distinct reggae vibes mixed with 90's influence and Asian culture, all wrapped up in a modern Eurodance song that is typical of Alexandra Stan's style. The song is addictive to say the least; while the music video showcases her beautifully. Alexandra Stan continues to prove that she's one of the top female artists out of Romania. Her effortlessly catchy songs are released one after another. She keeps to her style, with her voice on point throughout, whilst managing to progress and further her career. This single is a great transition single from "9 Lives", which was her last single release from her third studio album 'Alesta'. This one is a slightly new direction, showing that she has got some amazing new music on the way. "Boy Oh Boy" was written by Alexandra Stan, Marius Mirica, and Andi Grasu.
Directed by Bogdan Paun, the music video is a pure performance visual that was filmed in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Alexandra Stan wanted to capture the Asian culture, the Asian people, and the Asian atmosphere; and she pulled it off perfectly, even meeting people who wanted to star in the video.
Some of the scenes were filmed at the Batu Caves Tempur, as she revealed in some of her Instagram photos. She has dropped teaser one and teaser two in the run-up to this music video. She brings her usual energy to the visual, clearly caring a lot about this song and meaning every single word.
My favourite scene is when she's walking through the street, clocking all the people around her, allowing them time in the visual. There are also brilliant scenes of what appears to be a food warehouse, displaying the food served in Malaysia - tantalising.
The song's ending bridge is beyond anything we could've imagined and is certainly the best part of the song - if only it lasted a little longer. I hope that this sort of bridge appears in many of her new songs. During this part of the video, Alexandra Stan releases all her performing vibes, easily giving the camera everything it needs to capture her beautifully. Definitely an unforgettable moment during this segment of the video.
Overall, the song is something I can't get enough of, and the music video perfectly relates to the song. I like how she wanted to show off Malaysia. It works well, although I'm not so keen on some of the colourisation filters used; it makes it slightly too dark and mysterious, which doesn't really go with the rest of the scenes.
Out of all the options for my Thursday Revisit; of course, I was going to choose RuPaul's debut single which definitely inspired many people and charted in the US, the UK, and Canada. This song is totally iconic because so many of the phrases that we hear RuPaul say on his TV show "RuPaul's Drag Race" are ones he says in this song. The song was released in 1992 and had pretty good success. Personally, I always identify the 90's as a decade with influential drag queens. From what I remember, there was many of them on TV, making a name for themselves. Nowadays, it's not so easy to find drag queens on mainstream TV shows. They clearly left an impression on me, as I remember asking my Mom all about them. RuPaul has totally been an influential person for the LGBT+ community and this drag queen will go down in history. Watch RuPaul play a little black girl and become supermodel of the world, based on his own young life within the gay community and the culture he grew up with in this music video for "Supermodel (You Better Work)".
RuPaul, real name RuPaul Charles, has definitely come straight back into the limelight with his very popular American TV show RuPaul's Drag Race, which has seen him crown a number of drag queens as America's Next Drag Superstar. Yet, this is the song that really started RuPaul's music career - which has certainly been lengthy. It's inspiringly catchy and definitely was a surprising hit for the era that it was released. It managed to chart at number 39 on the UK Singles Chart and number 45 on the US Billboard Hot 100; as well as number two on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs Chart, and number four on the Canadian RPM Dance/Urban Singles Chart. The song was written by RuPaul, Jimmy Harry, and Larry Tee.
The music video was directed by Randy Barbato, and it continues to prove how current RuPaul is. The visual has a performance piece based within a narrative and is completely flawless. This concept and the way they have managed to pull it off is certainly ahead of its time. Was this really filmed in 1993? Throughout the video, actress LaWanda Page talks; she has several lines in the song, but does not appear in the music video; although she does appear in RuPaul's following videos.
During the narrative, we watch a little black girl get spotted by an "Ebony Fashion Fair" talent scout who then grows up to become the supermodel of the world. This is all announced by LaWanda Page as RuPaul looks at old photos. The video continues to show RuPaul as the supermodel of the world, prancing down the road like it's a runway.
She continues to do model things, like photo shoots and signing magazines with her face on. She uses the song to teach others that they have to work. As the video progresses, we see that this life is getting too much for her - and we all know how that feels. Stressed and overworked, RuPaul cracks under pressure; but. at the end, she laughs it off as if it was all a bit of fun.
It's totally not surprising that MTV loved this video, we all love this video. Clearly, the music channels played a key part in creating a hit song; and, to be fair, they still play a major part in the charts, especially considering people like Shawn Mendes with "Stitches" launched up the UK chart with his song, after the music channels played it often (as well as radio, obviously). This is complete in every way; and, to be fair, if it were released in today, it'll get a similar rating, because it's strong, it's effective, and it's relatable to the song in every way.
Couldn't decide what music video to review, so chose this one since I am currently playing Nickelback's latest album; which has the same title as this single. The album is pure fire throughout, and this music video is just as powerful. Nickelback are truly back, putting their stamp on rock music and proving how great they truly are. Watch Nickelback become freedom-fighting revolutionaries as they rescue imprisoned humans from machines in a post-apocalyptic world in this music video for "Feed The Machine".

They are one of the most successful rock groups of all time and continue to keep to their sound whilst keeping it current and mainstream. We all like a little bit of Nickelback, whether we like to admit to it or not. This latest album is complete fire from start to finish. It has certainly proved that they can continue as a band without changing their music genre. This song is their first single from the album, and it is one of those songs you never forget. It was written by Chad Kroeger, Ryan Peake, Mike Kroeger, and Daniel Adair.
Directed by Kyle Cogan, this music video is fully in-depth, easily relating to the lyrics. There is a slight performance piece, but it's mainly narrative; easily relating to the concept of the lyrics, transforming them into this perfect visual.
We watch as these robots come after two girls, one of which gets captured outside, whilst the other manages to escape and finds a place to hide. Then, the one who survived was taken to a village by a woman and given some water, and then they make a plan to free the humans that have been captured by the monsters, who are clearly just feeding the machine.
The concept is great and very relatable to many people in the world at the moment. There's not much inclusion of Nickelback as a whole; their scenes are more profile shots than anything else. I like the ending which sees the machine shut down once the humans are all rescued. Such an iconic music video, and yet there's just something missing as a whole.
Here is Kiesza, once again, proving she is a vocal powerhouse and determined not to go down as the "Hideaway" girl; I just know there is another hit on the horizon, for sure! This song deserved to be one, but we'll keep it amongst our treasures; one we'll sing along to every time we hear it; one we'll request to play at every party; and, one that we will never forget; just like all the other treasures we have. Bakermat has really proven his ability to create a hit, and although it may not have chart success, it's one I absolutely love. Watch Kiesza inspire everyone to dance in this ode of a music video to the past, whilst still keeping it modern and with a comedic effect, for Bakermat's "Don't Want You Back".
Bakermat, real name Lodewijk Fluttert, is a Dutch DJ and music producer, who has had a few successful songs, but most of which have been solid hits that haven't got the recognition they deserved. Only two of his songs have hit the UK Chart, these are "One Day (Vandaag)" and "Teach Me". It's a shame this one hasn't made it, especially since the collaboration is with Kiesza, real name Kiesa Ellestad, who may be a Canadian singer, but she's had massive success in the UK. Her hit, "Hideaway" peaked at number one, and she followed that with "Giant In My Heart" which got to number four; and, even her third single, "No Enemiez", peaked at number 30, inside the top 40! Yet, she hasn't been able to chart since, but promotion of this artist isn't as high as it was when "Hideaway" dropped; but, with a voice like Kiesza's, you'll always be a fundamental part of the music industry. This song was written by Lodewijk Fluttert, Clifford Goilo, Janée Bennett, Komi Al-Hakam, and Tamera Foster.
Directed by Adam Madrzyk, this music video is tongue-in-cheek as Kiesza encourages everyone to stop what they're doing and to dance their way through this song. Her vocals are on point throughout as she brings some fun to this brightly-themed music video.
The whole concept reminds me of Jigglypuff from Pokémon because everyone is asleep by the time she stops singing, probably from the exhaustion of dancing to the song. The opening scene sees a child go downstairs to watch TV and eat breakfast; it's clear that this is a children's TV programme that Kiesza is performing on.
She inspires fitness, wrapping it all around dance choreography, which she totally nails next to her backing dancers. The song is catchy, and Bakermat is looking super handsome in the visual. I also love how the people behind-the-scenes all start to dance too, and we also have an annoyed director who then ends up dancing too.
It totally works, but does it really relate to the song? It feels that the music video is a comical visual that doesn't really reflect the song. However, it's one I could watch over and over again; one that you'll see something new every time you watch.

The song was written by Paul Simon. All proceeds of this version of the song that Syco Music and Sony Music receive will be donated to the London Community Foundation and distributed by them to those affected by the fire.
The music video is a typical charity single music video, that showcases the Artists For Grenfell in the studio, recording the song; whilst clips of the devastating events after the fire are shown in segments. This is really nothing new and, as usual, the artists are shown in black and white, which doesn't add anything to this music video, apart from contrast.
Stormzy fully encompasses the song at the start, clearly adding something new to this song and making it unique. The sights we watch are completely saddening, and something like this could've happened to any one of us or one of our family members.
Overall, the video captures the devastation of the Grenfell Tower fire. I'm not so keen on the studio visuals of the artists as we've seen this sort of thing a thousand times before. As a whole, it totally deserves to be number one, and I'm glad that the public has done their part by buying the charity single to help all these sufferers.
I haven't seen this music video before today because I was waiting to write it up for my Chart Mondays review; however, it looks like this song isn't going to return to the UK's top ten anytime soon, even though this visual has been released. So I thought I might as well review this today, since I am obsessed with Shawn Mendes, and not just because of his beautiful voice and emotional songs. This track has me singing along whenever I hear it, although I don't think it's as good as many of his other songs. Watch Shawn Mendes be free travelling with his love-interest, Ellie Bamber, throughout Europe, as well as showing his gigs in those respective cities in this music video for "There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back".
Shawn Mendes is the Canadian superstar who is bringing out hit after hit after hit. Thanks to the music channels, I was aware of "Stitches" before it blew up in the UK. He is quite the climber on the UK chart, usually charting low to start off with and then zooming straight up. This has happened often with his singles; but, he's quickly becoming a male artist everyone is talking about, so he definitely has a bright future ahead of him. This song was released as part of the reissue of his second studio album. It was written by Shawn Mendes, John Theodore Geiger II, Geoff Warburton, and Scott Harris.
The music video is directed by Jay Martin. It was filmed in Paris, Amsterdam, and Isle of Thanet, Kent. The visual also features actress Ellie Bamber as Shawn Mendes' love-interest and on-screen girlfriend.
They travel around together, just like the opening lyric suggests. They are clearly having a lot of fun together travelling on trains, trekking along the coastline, and running through transportation hubs. They clearly get along great, and their acting skills really come into play as they easily showcase a relationship that we are all jealous of.
That's about all that goes on in this music video. There's a slight performance piece which sees Shawn Mendes performing on stage, with his guitar. He displays his emotion just like he does in every other performance we've seen. You definitely won't be disappointed at one of his gigs. Overall the video is good, but it just feels like it's missing something; it might be that the visuals don't showcase their on-screen relationship all that well.
I have been watching RuPaul's Drag Race recently, and I'm addicted. I am now on season seven, so no spoilers, please! This song gets played at The Nightingale Club in Birmingham often, and I've always thought it was Lady Gaga, until I watched season six of RuPaul's Drag Race, and I was like 'of course it's RuPaul'. So catchy and it so should've been an international hit; the music video also featured the top four drag queens from season six, which was the best season I've ever watched, to date. It was also the first time that the top three were all my favourites, and the first time one of my favourites won. Watch RuPaul perform the song "Sissy That Walk" accompanied by the top four of season six of RuPaul's Drag Race: Bianca Del Rio, Adore Delano, Courtney Act, and Darienne Lake.

The last challenge of every series of RuPaul's Drag Race sees the queens star in RuPaul's next music video; in this case, it was the top four of season six of the show that appeared in this music video. Bianca Del Rio went on to win, with Adore Delano and Courtney Act becoming runner-ups, and Darienne Lake coming fourth.
In the video, all the drag queens are looking fierce throughout. Bianca Del Rio does really shine in this, along with Adore Delano. As for Courtney Act, she gives it her all but I feel she gets a little lost, but it's Darienne Lake who totally falls short.
Anyone who has watched the episode where they filmed this music video, will know that Adore Delano came up with a brilliant dance move, which Darienne Lake then stole, and then it was cut out altogether for the music video, which was a shame.
The pit crew also appear in this music video, stripping during their scene, which we are not complaining about. Yet, it's RuPaul that stuns us all in this visual, with perfect performance vibes, which she totally brings. This is totally her song and she's going to let you know that in this music video. Although, the black panther does stand out the most for me.
Overall, it's great to watch and reminisce over the best season of RuPaul's Drag Race, but I'm not so keen on the fact that it's shown in black and white; I just don't see the reason behind it. Regardless, it's a powerful visual that goes perfectly with this power-dance track that I just love clubbing to when I hear it at The Nightingale Club.
Well here comes the furries and before this music video, I had no idea that furries were a thing, but I must've been one in my past life because they look so awesome! Looking over the new releases, there wasn't much choice when it came to which ones that had a music video, I ended up with two choices and chose this one since it's more my sort of music, and I believe I know the name from somewhere. After a bit of searching, I found out I previously reviewed Anjulie from way back when because her music video for "Brand New Bitch" was being shown on the UK music channels. It's good to see that she's still going and this new song is definitely electric! Watch Anjulie frolic in a field with a guy called Damien who is in a blue dog furry costume, before she hosts a birthday party at a house for him, where she ends up covering herself in food, in this weird music video for "Where The Love Goes" featuring Oskar Flood.
Anjulie, full name Anjulie Persaud, is a Canadian singer/songwriter. She's made her name known in the songwriting world, having already written songs for some high-calibre artists. She's been attempting a solo career for some time now, with "Brand New Bitch" being her most successful song to date; it charted at number 16 in Canada. She released her self-titled debut album in 2009. We hope she plans on releasing another one in the future. This song features Oskar Flood who doesn't have a lot of information, and my research turned up nothing apart from this song and music video, as well as a remix of Brooke Candy's "Living Out Loud" featuring Sia. According to Spinnin' Records, which this song has been released on, this is a 'golden teamup'.
The music video is quite different to what you would imagine, and it is quite sexual in specific ways. Anjulie is shown throughout the visual, meeting up with her love, Damien. He is a furry, dressed up as a sexy blue dog; this isn't the first time a furry has been included in a video, most notably Ke$ha's "C'Mon".
The opening scene sees Anjulie performing the song in a field, where she meets up with Damien and frolics around with him. There are many comical positions in this scene before Anjulie throws a ball, which the furry chases.
Next, we see her shopping and texting Damien, saying that they're still on for 'tonight'. She hosts a birthday party, and cooks a lot of delicious food; yet, when she sits down, she decides to cover herself in the food, rubbing it all over her face. It's completely weird in every way, but she clearly enjoys every minute of it.
Later, she's blowing up balloons, and Damien asks if he should bring dinner, but she admits that she's already eaten. He comes round and finds her on the bed surrounded by balloons.
Overall, this music video is confusing but slightly relatable to the song. Anjulie totally reminds me of Aluna Francis from AlunaGeorge. She's comical throughout and really gets into her role. Damien, whoever he is, is wearing one of the best furry animal suits I've seen.
It's Thursday Revisit, so of course, I was going to do this song by Elena, since she was in the Eurovision Song Contest after all. I also believe I've seen this music video on the music channels years ago, and the fact that it charted in the UK shows how much this was well received in this country. The video on the official Eurovision YouTube channel is a bit on the blurry side but we can deal. Elena represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. She came 19th overall with 49 points. The song sure is catchy, it's just a shame she didn't do better in the contest. Elena, full name Elena Ghorghe, was originally in Latin group Mandinga, who have had a string of hit singles and albums and went on to represent Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2012 with "Zaleilah"; this was all after Elena left the group to pursue a solo career. Since Eurovision 2009, Elena has built her career and has released some amazing hits, I still can't get "Mamma Mia (He's Italiano)" out of my head when I hear it. I truly believe she has a great voice and could have an internationally successful song in the future. She was chosen as the Romanian representative through Selecția Națională, which she won; it's just a shame she didn't do better during the Grand Final. The song was written by Laurentiu Duta, Ovidiu Bistriceanu, Alexandru Pelin, and Daris Mangal.
There are officially two music videos, one released in promotion of Selecția Națională in January 2009, which is the one I'm reviewing, and then there's an official music video that was released in March 2009 (which I'll probably end up reviewing at a later date). This music video / promotional video was filmed at a TVR 1 studio.
There are two main scenes, one is a slight narrative which then leads into the main dance scene, and then there is a slight segmented performance piece throughout. Elena is looking fierce, totally embodying superstardom in every way.
We watch Elena ride a horse with her two backing dancers doing the same. They ride them to this spiral staircase which they then descend. This leads them to a venue, or in this case, the studio, where they all perform amazing choreography in sync and perfectly relating to the song throughout.
The performance segment sees Elena on a silver couch, performing the song engagingly. A male dancer appears in a hallway and performs a great dance sequence. It might have been a great added touch to see him and Elena perform together at the end.
Overall, the music video doesn't have a lot going for it, but Elena and all the dancers make up for it by performing and giving it their all. After looking back at her performance during the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, I do much prefer the music video as the girls aren't exactly in-sync. Regardless, Elena gave it her all on that stage, and she could've faired much worse. It is quite a forgettable song and stage production, which probably didn't help; and I only just remember it way back when I watched this show in 2009.
You all knew this blog post was coming today after I wrote up my article on it for CelebMix, and since Inna is my queen. This is definitely a tune of the summer, and what with "Despacito" by Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber, being at the top of the UK charts, why can't another song that contains Spanish lyrics climb its way up - I can only ever hope. Compared to Inna's recent releases, I feel that the song itself falls short, it feels like a mix between "Heaven", "Me Gusta" and "Bad Boys", creating this cool summer sound that doesn't really work for me; regardless, I can see it becoming a grower as I learn the lyrics. Watch Inna and Erik perform on a tennis court whilst dancers back them up and continue the party on in other scenes, including an awesome bonfire in this music video for "Ruleta".
Inna, real name Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu, has had international fame, especially when she released her debut single "Hot". Since then she has been building up her career, and even though she doesn't chart well globally, she still nails it in her home country of Romania. She manages to sell out shows all around the world. Now, Inna is preparing to drop her fifth studio album, which will contain most of her recent singles. Her music oozes summer, so be prepared for an album that you'll have on repeat all year round. Featuring on the track is Erik, full name Erik Tchatchoua. He is a Romanian rapper who has previously collaborated with Mandinga on their song "Aventura". This song proves how great he really is, and it excites me to see where the future will take him. The song's music and lyrics were created by Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, David Ciente, Elena-Alexandra Apostoleanu, Frank-Erik Tchatchoua, Marius Dia, and Isaac Breyan.
Directed by Barna Nemethi, this music video hasn't got a lot to it. There are three main scenes, with a subtle short scene within the entire visual. It seems like there wasn't much thought behind it and not much time either. It feels rushed but still looks so much better than many other music videos I've seen.
The main scene is Inna and Erik performing on a tennis court, with a group of dancers behind them. There is a slightly missed opportunity of them all doing choreography; however, Inna rolls with it as she always does and there's definitely some dance moves inside of her as she continues her camera-friendly profile.
As for Erik, he doesn't really shine on the tennis court, that may be due to how gorgeous Inna is. Nevertheless, he gives it his all and you can see the passion behind his words. I'd also want to give kudos to seeing two women kiss, Inna has always been LGBT+ friendly in some of her music videos, and it's good to see it again here. There's also a man and woman kissing to even it all up a bit too.
The other scenes include the dancers showing off their amazing skills in a circle; some of which are incredible and has been edited perfectly to the song. Then there's the bonfire, the place we all wish we could be; it looks fun and it looks warm. Then there are the kids dancing in front of the wall; this clip is short and sweet and if you blink, you might miss it. At first, I did think some of these kids were from Inna's team echipa Inna from Vocea României Junior, who later collaborated as a group known as The Kidz where they released the song "Kids In Town"; unfortunately, I don't think these kid dancers are Inna's kids from the show.
Overall, this music video could've turned out completely low-budget and very simple; breaking it down, it seems this way; however, Inna and Erik plays it cool throughout and totally nail it. The dancers bring it as much as they can. It may seem like there isn't much to this, but that's because there isn't; yet, they've made it work, so kudos to everyone involved.

Antonia only recently came to my attention, being a part of Global Records and releasing amazing hit after amazing hit. Alongside her, in this music video, is her real-life partner Alex Velea; it's nice to see them team up on a song together, and he manages to surprise us completely by singing a part of the song himself! Watch Romanian power couple, Antonia and Alex Velea, show us their chemistry in this sexy music video for the former's new single "Iubirea Mea".
Antonia, full name Antonia Iacobescu, hit it big when her collaboration with Tom Boxer which gained her a bit of international fame, titled "Morena". She later charted well in her home country of Romania with "Marabou". Since then she has been building up her career and collaborating with some big names. She is also one of four girls a part of Global Records' project G Girls, which has produced hit singles "Call The Police" and "Milk & Honey". An uncredited feature in this song is her real-life partner Alex Velea, who has had a mildly successful career in music. As a couple, they are definitely two Romanian stars people are talking about. This song is another Romanian-language song, a follow-up to her fierce track and video "Dor de Tine". We all are hoping she releases a second studio album soon, as that would definitely be the icing on the cake. "Iubirea Mea" was written by Andrei Banica, Alexandru Cotoi, Sebastian Barac, Marcel Botezan, and Theea-Eliza-Ioana Miculescu.
Directed by Khaled Mokhtar, this music video is a pure performance piece that really calls on Antonia's modelling skills; this explains why she's so camera-friendly because in the past she has worked as a model. She's very comfortable during her scenes allowing that to transcend to Alex Velea, who has this macho exterior; yet, he obviously cares for Antonia.
It's nice to see them collaborate on a song together. They are certainly couple goals, which we've known from their previous Instagram posts, but seeing it all dressed around a sultry music video makes our jealousy 10 times more real.
As a whole, this visual is sexy in every way. I love the netting scene on the beach, with Antonia fully relying on her experience as a model; the shots in this scene is beyond beautiful. The other scenes are intricate, and it's nice to see Antonia and Alex Velea giving an insight into their relationship. Although, it does look like Antonia gets a little tangled up with the net during the bed scene but she deals with it well.
This is certainly set to become one of 2017's summer hits, for sure. It's already racking up chart numbers around the world, and Jonas Blue has done it all over again. Today is a Monday, which means it's Chart Mondays, and still at the top is Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee with "Despacito" featuring Justin Bieber, which doesn't have an official music video, and I doubt it will since there is one out already that doesn't feature Justin Bieber. Hence why I'm reviewing this music video by Jonas Blue, featuring William Singe. The song is certainly catchy with brilliant vocals; yet, the lyrics themselves definitely reminds me of Sunstroke Project's "Hey, Mamma!"; the message behind both songs is pretty similar. Watch William Singe give a great performance whilst he and Jonas Blue have fun with their respective girls in sunny Albania during this music video that oozes summer for "Mama".
Jonas Blue is a DJ and producer who's real name is Guy James Robin; he did a DJ set at Birmingham Pride 2017, which I am now gutted I missed because this song is a complete tune! He has quickly become one of the British DJs to watch out for, as each of his singles hit it big on charts around the world. To date, "Fast Car", is his biggest hit, but he easily followed that up with "Perfect Strangers". Regardless, his latest single is my favourite song from him, totally catchy and it definitely has summer vibes going on throughout. "Mama" may not blow up as big as his other singles, but it more than deserves to. It features William Singe, real name Liam Singe, who is an Australian singer, songwriter, and producer. He's most notable for being in the boy band The Collective, who had major success in Australia due to being formed on the fourth season of The X Factor Australia - finishing third. The group disbanded after three years when William Singe left the group to pursue a solo career. He released his debut single "Rush" in February 2017, and I truly believe this song will push him to become a successful artist as his vocals and style are on point. This song was written by Jonas Blue, Ed Drewett, and Sam Romans.
The music video was directed by Sasha Nathwani along the coastlines of Jale and Dhermi on the Albanian Riviera. It also stars Albanian supermodel, Oriola Marashi as Jonas Blue's love interest; she can also sing opera, and can clearly be an actress as this music video suggests.
The song is about being carefree and the music video easily showcases this, taking us back to the times when we go on holiday abroad and do the things we love to do. The narrative isn't as developed as it could be, and the shady deal scene seems totally out of place.
As for the performance piece, William Singe really nails it. He sends out energetic vibes that draw the viewers in. Unfortunately, we see more of the flimsy narrative, than the William Singe's performance.
The music video as a whole definitely attains to the song's summer sound and it's carefree nature of the lyrics; however, I feel that the storyline isn't complete and that they could have done so much more with this. On the other hand, just look at the single artwork below, pretty friken amazing!
Having already reviewed this music video for Electric Mode, I thought it would be good to write it up for my blog so that I can dive deeper into the visual and see if I can come up with more thoughts on it overall. There isn't a lot going on in the visual, and it's quite disappointing considering the song is an amazing tune that I can't stop playing and will suit dancefloors all across the world; I also reviewed the song, itself, for Outlet Magazine and Electric Mode. Watch an ethereal world where a woman prances through grass, meets a dog before heading into water; a man is looking for her and their rush of togetherness changes the scenery in this music video for EDX's "Feel The Rush".
EDX, real name Maurizio Colella, is a long-time DJ and producer who pretty much started way back in 1994. He's known for his many single releases as well as his high-profile remixes - he's done Danni Minogue, Deadmau5, Sam Feldt, Avicii, and Calvin Harris. This song is his sixth release in the past five months. It has already gained over a million streams on Spotify, so I'm sure DJs around the world are feeling the rush of this song right now along with their respective clubbers.
This music video doesn't entertain as much as the song itself does; certainly leaving the viewers wanting so much more. It doesn't really make much sense either, and hardly relates to the song.
It certainly has a hippie vibe going on, with the woman having the time of her life in the field, where she meets a dog. She finds a secluded spot to stroke the dog, and that's when more comes to find her.
Then the scene changes to a quite fit guy who is clearly searching for her. He finds her as she starts to walk into the water - I have no clue where the dogs have gone to. He stops her from going all the way in and they hug; during this time the scene around them changes to a black darkness, where she decides to get up and leave him in, towards the end.
Overall, the narrative fails to make sense of the song, with its light-hearted hippie vibe which then transforms into this darkness. It just doesn't work for me, and I was really hoping it would because I am obsessed with the song.
This song has been on my iTunes for years as part of a few compilation albums and the more I hear it, the more I am obsessed with it; it's such a good song. For the first time, I watched the music video, and it's completely epic, it's full-on amazingness in every way. How did this never become a global hit? This will be another lost treasure that we'll forever love. I always confuse this Elena, whose last name is Gheorghe, with Elena Paparizou, as I feel both singers have a very similar musical style, and they have both competed in Eurovision, only the latter won it in 2005; and they're both called Elena. Watch Elena get married in this tongue-in-cheek music video for "Mamma Mia (He's Italiano)" where she flirts with an Italiano guy during her wedding ceremony.

As I previously stated, this song deserved to be a global sensation, as it is an addictive song. It also features Glance, full name Glance Al-Massany, who is a Romanian rapper. He has worked with many artists and has certainly made a name for himself.
The music video was directed by Dan Petcan. It's totally relatable to the song, completely wrapped around this wedding theme, which I have a full theory on, but more about that later. It stars Elena as the bride, an Italiano person she's singing about as one of the groomsmen, and Glance as another one of the groomsmen too.
The narrative starts with the bride and the groom getting ready in their respective rooms with their friends. Elena looks out her door to see the Italiano guy outside - the person she's singing to her mamma about. She takes a moment before heading out the door and engaging in a flirty commotion, where he chases her while she acts coy since she is the bride after all. She goes up to her groom and straightens his jacket, before heading outside with him to get married.
The narrative continues as we see the dinner and the party fully get on the way. The Italiano guy continues to come after her, but due to this song, her mother is always watching or stepping in.
During Glance's bit of the song, we see the groom and the groomsmen having a party in the room they were previously getting ready in. One of the bridemaids are dancing sexily over Glance, before turning her attention to the groom - who's hands previously wandered when he hugged her - loving the attention. Elena sees all this and puts a stop to it.
The party continues until near the end where Elena sees her groom and the bridemaid behind a tree, They are just ending their embrace and her dress is unzipped at the back; he withdraws his hand from under the back of her dress. At the very end, Elena is sitting on some steps changing her shoes, where the Italiano guy wraps his jacket around her before leaving with his mates.
Throughout the music video, we see a performance piece from Elena, fully proving that she has star power in every way. She unleashes comical energetic vibes that will be perfect on a stage. As for Glance, his small solo segment has more of a spotlight on the bridesmaid than anything else, he's totally outshined, and kind of gets lost.
Now here's my theory... If you look out for the dining scene, you'll see the Italiano guy standing on the table, at one point the bridesmaid gets onto the table with him and they grind together. This gets a slight jealousy look from both the groom and the bride... For all we know, the Italiano guy and the bridesmaid knew each other from years ago and have constructed this plan so that he can get with Elena and she can get with the groom. If it was all a plan, it sure was constructed perfectly.
Overall, the narrative of this music video is beyond perfection; Dan Petcan has done a terrific job of directing this music video, enough to the point where I can't believe he's not completely in demand by international stars; regardless he has done some other incredible music videos, including Ilinca's "Yodel It!", Voltaj's "De la capăt (All Over Again)", and Andreea Bănică's "In lipsa ta". As for this music video, Elena's acting skills are brilliant and her performance vibes are off the radar. This music video will be remembered forever!
Making his debut on my blog is George Ezra with this feel-good summer song which will no doubt gain momentum as the sunshine starts to bake us all. He dips in and out of the public eye but was launched with his highly successful song "Budapest". It's undeniable that he has a brilliant voice that has definitely earned him a place amongst the music industry, it's just a shame that his music isn't to my taste; it's not something I personally would listen to, and this song in itself feels like he doesn't care about it. He sings it as if he's too relaxed and as if it doesn't matter at all when he sings. The backing track is much more appealing than the lyrics, and I bet the instrumental version is much more interesting than the song itself. Watch everyone have a great summer time in George Ezra's new music video for his recently released single "Don't Matter Now".
George Ezra, full name George Ezra Barnett, hit it big with his debut single "Budapest" which skyrocketed up the charts around the world. That catchy little single perfectly showed off how iconic his voice is; he then followed it up with an album which also sold well around the world and a few other singles. Now he's back with a brand new song that I was hoping would be addictive, and although the backing track certainly contains an upbeat summer-infusion, the lyrics fail to match well and his vocals doesn't really fit with the song. It just feels like he's singing a different song in a relaxed style, and I feel that it doesn't work all that well. The song was written by George Ezra Barnett and Joel Laslett Pott.
Directed by Marc Oller, the music video contains many actors, actresses and dancers; these people have been credited as the following: Adriá Brita, Daniel Chamizo, Anna Viñas, Harman, Pedro Muñoz, Targil, Jeldris, Lihon Sun, Julia Sanz, Shelia Gadea, Júlia Hernández, Julia Espinosa, Will McGrath, Xavier Salvat, Danielle, Gina Berenguer, and Aina Carafi.
The main scene throughout is George Ezra and his dog going on a road trip. The dog is totally loving life in the passenger seat; to be fair, so would I if I were in a car with George Ezra. The dog even has hair bobbles in his hair, can it look any more adorable?
As the instrumental chorus kicks in we follow other people, who are on a beach, in the video. There are three people performing choreography by Anna Macau; there are frisbee playing and badge loving "Don't Matter Now" people too.
Other scenes see people just having fun in the glorious sunshine. It's all very tongue-in-cheek with the pie-face, the dancing, the 'ouch' plaster, the heads in the sand, the kissing of a gnome. The ending sees George Ezra click the "Don't Matter" button in the car and speeds down the road, disappearing in a set of fire tyre tracks just like in the film "Back To The Future".
Overall, this music video works and relates to the song. It's nothing special but it completely turns the song into the visual and totally works. I may not like the song, and I may not like the music video, but I admit that they go well together and certainly bring summer vibes that we very much need in the UK at the moment.
Quite the decision today for my Thursday Revisit, but ultimately went with Lady Antebellum's debut music video because this country group has the second most viewed post on my blog, ever! Their "Just A Kiss" blog post has over 4,000 views on my blog, and you can see that it's ranked number two at the very bottom right corner of my blog. This was their first ever single, and the music video is just as good. It's surprising to see Charles Kelley fronting the group with his voice, especially as we're used to him and Hillary Scott sharing the vocals, but it definitely proves he is a strong vocalist. Watch Lady Antebellum hit the road, showing the way they organise, prepare, arrange, and perform a gig in a small venue in this music video to "Love Don't Live Here".
Lady Antebellum are a three-piece country group consisting of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood. They released this debut single way back in 2007. They formed in 2006, with Hillary Scott having been rejected from American Idol twice. Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood have known each other since middle school and the former convinced the latter to move to Nashville to pursue a career in music; they met Hillary Scott at a Nashville music club after recognising her from Myspace. They formed the group and came up with the band name after they were photographing antebellum houses. As first singles go, it's completely catchy, and I love how it wasn't until a couple of years later that they finally had an international breakthrough with "Need You Now", although it did take some time to gain worldwide exposure with the song. Now, they've been going for over a decade now and they're still bringing brilliant hits, the latest music video has a similar style to this one, what with them performing in a small venue, the song of which is called "You Look Good". This debut song was written by Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood.
The music video was directed by Chris Hicky. The group are together, hitting the road and preparing their first gig. It feels very small-towny and really endearing to watch. It's a great throwback considering nowadays social media would play an important part in spreading information about a gig.
I love how they create their own posters to give to people in the diner. That is literally an iconic part of this music video, especially as they invite the locals.
There is a performance narrative throughout with Charles Kelley taking on the lead, and it really feels like it's his show, his band; that it's all about him. I'm glad that wasn't the case throughout their career and all three are very much a part of this band.
I just love the concept overall, and it is really fitting as a debut single. However, does it really relate to the song all that much? Not at all, and that's totally what let this music video down because they could have been singing any song and it wouldn't have made that much of a difference. Regardless, the concept is great and I'd certainly watch again and again.
Struggling today to pick a music video to review, then I realised that I haven't reviewed this one yet. Lady Antebellum dropped their new album, "Heart Break", this week - which I still haven't listened to, but I will do when I have iTunes credit; but, I do really like this song, and I cannot wait to listen to the rest of the album; I'm sure it's so fresh so fine! This song is catchy to no end, and along with a hundred other Lady Antebellum songs, it deserves to be a global hit; regardless, it becomes a treasured hit by me. Watch Lady Antebellum sing on stage to "You Look Good" as a woman walks to the country bar and a guy checks her out; damn, she looks good and so does he. This is a must-watch music video.
Lady Antebellum are a three-piece country group consisting of Hillary Scott, Dave Haywood, and Charles Kelley. They do all right in the UK, namely their albums chart well every time they are released, but I'm so disappointed that their singles never launches into the UK chart. Why is it so hard to get songs as good as this to chart over here? They have charted well in the past, managing to soar up high with their biggest international hit to date "Need You Now", which is still played on the radio today; but, I need them to have another one soon! This song takes Lady Antebellum down a new route, adding more instruments to their songs as the video shows; this has been a controversial move as many say they aren't country anymore; however, I've always believed there have been two major country styles, there's been "country & western" and then there's been what is starting to become known as "young country"; the latter of which Lady Antebellum has always fitted in along with many country musicians who have been getting hits on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. This song deserves so much more recognition. It was written by Hillary Lindsay, Ryan Heard, and Busbee.
Directed by Shane Drake and Roger Pistole, this music video has it all. There are a main actress and actor who eye one another up in this narrative combined performance music video. Their names have not been revealed, so feel free to comment below if you know who these characters are played by.
The narrative is cleverly infused with the performance piece. Our main character, a woman, who is looking extremely stylish, walks to a country bar where Lady Antebellum is playing. As the music video continues we see that a guy is eyeing her up - he looks pretty damn fine too. They chat for a bit towards the end of the visual, before he walks off, leaving her at the bar. We then get a "to be continued..." message. Will they link up all their music videos from their seventh studio album? I sure hope so, it'll be one great narrative for the "Heart Break" album!
Once again, Lady Antebellum kills it during the performance piece. Every time I see them singing their songs, I just want to spend the rest of my money on buying tickets to see them live. Yes, they are performing in the UK towards the end of this year, but I do not have money to buy tickets yet, and I reckon that by the time that I do, there won't be any that I can afford. Regardless they ooze energetic performance vibes with excellent emotion, completely nailing the song in every way. It is surprising that the song isn't written by them since they do such a good job of singing it.
Overall, it's not surprising that Lady Antebellum has given us another spectacular music video that I just can't get enough of. I may not get the chance to see them live, but I can certainly watch this music video again and again as they are on stage totally bringing it. I just wish there was a little more to the narrative. It relates to the song, but maybe they should've chatted for longer and ended the narrative there.
