Almost six years old now, in the UK, and I cannot believe I haven't reviewed it until now. I have been a fan of Inna since this music video was released on the music channels and radio picked up the song. To date, this is Inna's highest charting single on the UK chart, although many of her most recent singles are worthy of that claim, however she is not promoted much, if at all, in the UK and so her music isn't widely popular here, not yet anyway. Inna looks fly and hot and sexy in this music video, with a passionate love story narrative infused.
Inna, real name Elena Apostoleanu, is one of the biggest artists to come out of Romania, if not the biggest, she holds the title as the richest Romanian and Eastern European artist as of the end of 2011, I presume this still stands. This is her debut single, that shot all across the globe, peaking at number six on the UK Singles Chart, I remember when and where I bought this single, surprisingly. I was in Wales on a family holiday, and as soon as it was released in HMV, I begged my dad to let me go inside and buy this one CD. I still have it today in my bedroom. It was written by Sebastian Barac, Radu Bolfea and Marcel Botezan. The title of the song is not listed in the lyrics, it was originally going to be called 'Fly', however they chose 'Hot' instead as it relates and describes a certain type of relationship.
There are actually two music videos for this song, which I only just found out today. I will be focusing on this one alone, and might review the other one in the future. This is the one I know and love, the other one is a complete mess, and I'll only ever review it if I need to.
This video is both performance and narrative. Inna is looking sexy and sultry, not giving too much away as she performs. The scenes are beautifully subtle and works well with her looks. We know she can perform better than this, however there's something simple and relaxed about this, as she floods the song with emotion.
The narrative follows a blonde girl in the backstage dressing room, getting ready. She receives a bunch of roses with a card that says in Romanian: 'Un admirator...' which means in English: 'An admirer...' We then see scenes of her doing her job as a stage dancer. We then are cut to a scene of her at home, arguing with her lover in front of her daughter. She walks out and the father comforts the child.
She receives another bouquet of roses, and the card reads, in Romanian: 'Un admirator care te adora...' which means in English: 'A fan who loves you...' A few scenes of her stage dancing and being with her friends are included and in the morning another fight ensues at home, where she inevitably packs her bags and leaves.
When she returns backstage there is another set of roses. This card says in Romania: 'In seara asta vreau sa ne cunoastem. Te astept ,dupa program ,in fatza clubului' which basically means in English: 'Tonight I want to meet you. I will wait after work', the end bit doesn't directly translate, I'm presuming it means outside the club, or round the back of the club, or somewhere specific in the club. When she goes to meet him, it turns out that the guy who we've seen clips of is actually her lover. He takes his sunglasses off and his ring (which doesn't make sense to me), and they hug and make up.
Overall a perfect video that can't be faulted, a perfect narrative that is totally related to the song. The performance piece could've been better, but Inna has released much worse performance pieces in her music videos, and yet a quick look at any of her live sessions proves that not only does she have an amazing voice, but she has a brilliant on-stage presence that is filled with performance vibes, this video slightly shows that, but the narrative is so thought out and special, it makes the video complete.
This song has been stuck in my head all day, well until I went on my break at work and watched a video that had Jennifer Paige's "Crush" in the background, and that was it, that was stuck in my head for the rest of the day, I wish I still wasn't crushing on this one guy, and when I think I've finally stopped, I realise it hasn't. But I've come to terms with it, and that is all it's going to be, a crush and nothing more. This song will take it's place again, unbelievably catchy, it's unsurprising that it reached the top spot on the UK chart. Rita Ora is so much more relaxed when she is putting on a show, exuding perfect performance vibes, she sings, dances and proves how amazing she really is.
Rita Ora is a worldwide star and she has definitely made it here in the UK. She is currently locked in a legal battle with her record company so that she can get out of her contract. Something to do with a seven year rule. Considering that she's been a part of Roc Nation for seven years now, and she has only released one album shows it all doesn't it? She should've had a few out by now, enough to guarantee more number ones in the future, which she needs if she's going to compete against Cheryl and Jess Glynne for most number ones by a British female artist. She even once held the record with Geri Halliwell, but was succeed by the former two singers. I hope that once her lawsuit is cleared up she has more number ones around the corner. This song was written by Calvin Harris, who was her boyfriend at the time.
Directed by Francesco Carrozzini, it's a pure performance piece as she tells the camera that she will never let you down.
As per usual, Rita Ora proves to us that she can dance, hitting off that choreography like it is nothing. She easily works the camera and does a great job.
Again black and white tones are used which normally frustrates me, instead this works as when it is switched to colour, it is way too much in your face, bubblegum explosion. Rita Ora has a unique style and it works well for her, but it can sometimes be too much, not that that's a bad thing, but she looks a lot more respectable in the black and white visual scenes, that it's a complete shock to find out she's wearing something much more quirky.
Overall, Rita Ora nails the performance piece. Would've liked a slight bit of narrative here and there, maybe an inclusion of a guy in the music video, just to add that slight thing that we are missing. But I'd definitely go and see her live, and this music video proves how amazing she would be up on stage.
The inspiration for writing this review about this music video, comes from my ex. He recently got back in contact with me through facebook, and after a little bit of chat, he suggested I go and listen to this song, he said I would like it. I never got the chance to until today, which is a few weeks after he suggested it. Whether he's still caught up with me, or not, I'm not sure, but it feels like a little last stab of pain he wanted to give to me. Although it totally failed since I have completely moved on, and not in the way this song suggests, even if that is what he thinks of me. I'm not running around breaking hearts, or even breaking my own. I pretty much am focusing on my career, and if a guy wants me in their life, of course I'm going to give that guy a try, because I'd rather not miss the one because I'm too caught up in my career and my future, especially if he might be right in front of me at any given moment. Whatever my ex thinks of me, I really don't care, I'm happy being who I am, and although I get lonely sometimes, much like everyone else does in the world, I am pretty content with who I am. Aside from all this... Nicole Scherzinger hits out in this slightly catchy song that shows off her incredible vocals, it's accompanying music video is unfortunately in black and white and although full of passion and heartbreak, the overall perception brings it down.
Nicole Scherzinger is currently focusing on other career aspects, since her most recent album didn't do as well as she had hoped. Although she has promised a new album this year. Hopefully it'll hit her back into the limelight. Who would've thought she has had international success as the lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, as well as a number one solo single "Don't Hold Your Breath". She can definitely get back on top form, but whether she puts enough effort into it, is the other question. The song was written by Terius "The-Dream" Nash, Christopher A. Stewart and Carlos McKinney. A total power ballad, it's not something I'd go out of my way to listen repeatedly, yet full of emotion, she means every word. She's still hurting post-break-up and not only does she want him to know it, but she knows that he's been hurting too.
The music video was directed by Tim Mattia. Visually authentic, which goes well with the song since power ballads aren't exactly in at the moment, unless you're Adele. Which probably explains why it only charted at number 90 on the UK chart.
I have said this before, and I'm going to say it again. I hate black and white music videos, and even though this might add shade to her emotions in this song the music video would definitely have come across much better in colour.
The narrative works perfectly with the song, I love how they are both drinking and how she is having a bit of a tantrum or a meltdown. She can't help the feelings she has for him and yet she doesn't want to be constantly hurt by him, even though it's what he's been doing. Is this what my ex is trying to convey to me? Does he want me back, like all my friends think he does? I'm over him anyway, we can be friends, but if he wants me, he'll have to prove how much to me to consider even taking him back. "If you think I'm coming back, don't hold your breath".
As for the performance side of things,. surprisingly, Nicole Scherzinger doesn't hold her emotion in. Instead outwardly projecting how happy she is at singing this song. She attempts to perform and yet fails in some of the scenes. This is not what I wanted to see, I wanted her to feel lonely, upset, mad, annoyed. We all know the feelings of a break-up, and happy is extremely rare, it doesn't belong in this music video.
Overall, Nicole Scherzinger failed to have a hit with this song, however her vocals are on point, to an extent. The accompanying music video is filmed in black and white, removing detail and emotion creating a possible bland visual, yet Nicole Scherzinger pulls it back with an all-right performance and a perfect acting role in the narrative. She saved this video, believe it or not.
Zayn is back from leaving One Direction last year, and his debut single has got everyone talking, no wonder he flew straight into number one and managed to become my Chart Mondays review. Sporting a totally new look, Zayn sings a sultry song that makes him look quite sexy, in my opinion, which is surprising for me as Zayn was my least favourite member of One Direction. Zayn's debut blasted him to the top of the UK chart, but does this music video do the song justice? Visualisations are played to the maximum, visually defining sexiness to an entirely new level.
Zayn Malik was one fifth of British group One Direction. He broke away from the band citing creative differences, although his first single seems to be in a similar style to One Direction's recent singles, so much so that it's no wonder that their fans are in favour of this song. He has definitely come a long way from that young boy in The X Factor who cried during bootcamp. It was written by Zayn Malik, Anthony Hannides, Michael Hannides, Levi Lennox and Joe Garrett.
The music video was directed by Bouha Kazmi, and features the wonderful Gigi Hadid, who has been popping up in various music videos, recently. I hope this isn't her last.
Sexy and sultry, Zayn is giving Nick Jonas a run for his money, however this doesn't quite match up to the powerfully gorgeousness of "Levels", although it isn't quite far off.
This is extremely artistic, enough to make me in awe. Zayn is in a dreamed visual, imagining his deepest desired mixed in with pain and blurred lines. Again, it reminds me of Windows Media Player's visualisations, this seems to be a common theme in recent videos, especially after Diplo & Sleepy Tom's "Be Right There". However Zayn's video is much more modern.
Gigi Hadid plays a much better role in this, than her previous role in Calvin Harris & Disciples' "How Deep Is Your Love", however she is definitely getting recognition all around the world from these videos, so I hope to see her appear in more music videos in the future.
Overall a great debut song, that is now stuck in my head, yet is it any wonder, Zayn had to come out with a massive hit, or leaving One Direction would have looked like a bad move. Will Zayn keep up his success? Only time will tell. The big question is whether he made the right decision. It worked for Geri Halliwell, for some time, before her music career decided it didn't want to exist any more, but with songs like this Zayn's career has only just started.
Inna dropped this music video on Friday, and I've been waiting for today to review it. She hit one billion views on YouTube on Friday, so as a thank you to her fans she released this music video. Sultry, sexy and scenic, Inna displays herself like she usually does, she loves to have fun, meet guys, look back on the past and drive. You'd always have a good time when Inna is around.

The song was written by Thomas Troelsen and Andreas Schuller, and in English actually means: Appointment, although Rendez Vous sounds so much sexier.
The video is directed by Michael Abt and John Perez, it is filmed in Pura Vida, Costa Rica. This is a typical Inna music video, and they all are becoming pretty similar, and yet she exudes confidence and passion for the music she is singing.
The video has amazing summer vibes, which is exactly what the song portrays. Inna always gives us the perfect summer anthems even if it is winter. However she makes me totally jealous seeing these videos whilst I'm in the wintry UK.
Inna is travelling and having fun, we've seen this in "Crazy Sexy Wild / Tu Si Eu" as well as "Un Momento", "Wow" and "More Than Friends". It seems she needs at least one of these music videos per an album, and considering her catalogue, it's hard to imagine her music videos to all be different. Although most of her music videos are performance based, with extremely little narrative structure.
The field where Inna performs is probably where the video loses the audience's interest. She looks sexy as always and yet once again is given no choreography and the camera angles just doesn't work for her. It's almost as if she doesn't know what to do in front of the camera, which frustrates me as we all know she can perform much better than this.
There's a slight narrative to her travelling. She finds a guy on a beach, relatable to the lyrics of the song, and their group of friends join together and travel to a few places together. Inna is stunning as usual, but I feel this video lacks depth and has been done a few too many times before in Inna's case.
As a fan of Cassadee Pope, it's not surprising that I would end up reviewing this music video. It is a soulful country song, and even though I am aware of Chris Young, his voice still astounds me, it's authentic, crisp and just plain gorgeous. Mix that with Cassadee Pope's amazing voice, creates a wonderful duet. Chris Young and Cassadee Pope sing about no longer being the life of the party because when they think of me they think of you, which is portrayed perfectly in this music video.
Chris Young has been a major success in the US, hitting the country charts hard, in addition to dipping into the Canadian country charts too. As well as mild success on both billboard charts. He has received no promotion here in the UK, and even though it seemed country music was about to hit it off big in the UK, it soon dissipated, with only a few stars making it over here. However. all it can take is one hit song to push a country star into international fame, and with a voice like Chris Young's I'll be surprised if he doesn't, at least, chart in the top 200 here in the UK, at some point in his career. As for Cassadee Pope, she too is an amazing country singer, however I truly believe she has what it takes to be a global success, she's fought for her career for an extremely long time, she deserves to be an international star, she just needs to keep fighting and to never give up the dream, she can do this. The song was written by Chris Young, Corey Crowder and Josh Hoge. It is about adjusting to being single after breaking up with your lover.
Directed by David McClister, this is a perfect portrayal of the song. Both singers attend a party and yet they can't adjust to being single. It's clearly not possible, because when their friends think of them, they think of the relationship they used to be in.
At times it's an exact transition from the song, such as the shots. Cassadee Pope, is having a real go at being the life of the party, and yet you can tell her heart isn't in it. She is much more happier after the party, in that café having some coffee late at night.
Chris Young seems much more happier walking around the streets at night, than hanging at the bar totally unsure of what to do with himself. To be honest they look like they're at a club, which is definitely not the scene for Chris Young.
As for the performance side of things, they both nail it. I can easily imagine the intense vibes this duet would create on stage. So much so that I'd really love to see these two perform live, their voices are magic as soloists, but together; now that would be special.
Overall, I can't fault this video one bit, it could be considered pretty basic, and yet it's exactly what I want from this sort of music video. It relates, it has a perfect performance piece and the narrative is more than what I could imagine.
What have I just watched? I'm pretty much dumbstruck at the moment, like seriously, what is this music video? Like I don't get this at all, it's too weird for me. However, nice one Dizzee Rascal, his rap works perfectly in this song and he nails it to a tee! He stands out on this video, even if his inclusion doesn't help the video whatsoever. DJ Fresh and High Contrast come together to take us back in time, yet leaving us shocked by this uninteresting and extremely weird and dated music video, even Dizzee Rascal can't pull this video out of the water.
DJ Fresh, real name Daniel Stein, is a British DJ, and is mostly known for his number one singles "Louder" and "Hot Right Now". He is currently sporting a shockingly new look which contrasts his bleached blonde hair with his dark brown facial hair, that isn't at all appealing. His appearance isn't the only thing that's gone downhill, in my opinion. He has yet to top the UK chart since "Hot Right Now", and has only managed a few top ten singles, whereas the others have missed out on the top 40 altogether. What's happened DJ Fresh? You definitely need to pull something much better than this out of the bag, especially since you have been working on this new album for a few years now. As for High Contrast, he is a Welsh DJ, real name Lincoln Barrett. He has had quite the career over the past decade or so, but he isn't locally famous or popular, and have only had a few charting albums and singles. This could've been the single to push him into the limelight, and yet it doesn't seem to look like it will, I'm pretty sure he can make it on his own, without any help from this song or DJ Fresh. As for Dizzee Rascal, real name Dylan Mills, he has totally made it. If he wants another hit song he can get one when he wants it. He's an international superstar, with four UK number one singles behind his name, he's pretty relaxed, he didn't need this song, he probably just liked it, and to be fair his lyrics works perfect with the song. It was my favourite bit of the entire song purely because he nailed every second of it.
The music video is directed by Scott Cudmore. The idea behind the video is fusing together 80's fitness videos with 80's crime movies. This totally doesn't work, these are two polar opposites shown in the 80's, what was the whole point in fusing them together?
I get that the song is trying to bring back old school music, a lot of people have said it reminds them of Altern-8 songs as well as The Prodigy. However both these groups were not a part of the 80's era, and so I totally don't understand this video apart from taking us back in time.
The fitness side of the video reminds me a bit of Eric Prydz "Call On Me", which is not surprising, when there is people in spandex working out. The entire video is just completely weird, and why put this fitness video scene into a crime movie where the actors are confused as to what is happening? They perform in a jail, court house and police station. It just too weird for my liking.
As for Dizzee Rascal's appearance, it doesn't work either. Dizzee Rascal portrays a news reporter, and he doesn't really get into the role, he is incredibly relaxed and his scene doesn't help to make us understand this video, if anything, it makes it even more weird, is that even possible?
This entire video is a shambles, this fails to relate to the song, even if it is giving off some sort of old school vibe, the 80's fitness and crime vibe is what is present in this video. As for relating to the title of the song... Well I see nothing of substance there either. This song doesn't have much potential even though it probably will chart next Friday, considering the artists involved in the song and their many fans, however I pretty much doubt it will climb high up on the chart. The video fails to give us anything, and I'd rather never to watch it again.
It's Thursday, so it's revisit time, after much deliberating, I chose Alexandra Stan, because I could, and I also believe her debut single is definitely catchy if extremely sexualised. The video is extremely low-budget and definitely doesn't help her in any way. Alexandra Stan attempts to be sexy and sultry in this terrible music video, she pulls it off to a very slight extent, but as a whole this is best left to be forgotten.
I have been a fan of Alexandra Stan since her international debut single, "Mr. Saxobeat", was released here in the UK. I was hoping this song would get released before her album dropped, but it never did. "Get Back (ASAP)" was released after "Mr. Saxobeat" charted highly, however it didn't take off as much and it was the start of Alexandra Stan's international fame spiralling downwards. I have been hoping she would make a comeback, and although "Thanks For Leaving" was the perfect song for her, after her manager and then boyfriend beat her up, it didn't chart here in the UK. And although her album Unlocked was a much better album than her previous Saxobeats, it too didn't chart. She recently released "I Did It, Mama!", which left a lot to be desired, and yet is ultimately catchy, I'm hoping she will make a big impact soon, as she needs a lot more recognition as she definitely deserves it. This song was written by Andrei Nemirschi and Marcel Prodan, and samples Fergie's song "Fergalicious".
This music video is a complete disaster, on paper it probably sounded all right. And yes it is relatable in a way, but it is awful, everyone has to admit that!
We all know that Alexandra Stan can pull off sexy and sultry, I can't name the amount of times she's done it in the videos following this one, yet I believe she fails to do just that in this one because it's her debut music video, luckily for her, this only gave her recognition in Romania and wasn't shown on many international music channels. "Mr. Saxobeat" will always be her international debut song and music video, and that is the image we have of her when people mention her name; not this, definitely not this.
I don't even know what else to comment on. She just looks uncomfortable, and even the two dancers with her aren't that into this music video either. It's definitely not something I'd go out of my way to watch again, although the song is extremely catchy and is currently stuck in my head, but I'd rather forget this video ever happened.
Alexandra Stan is back! I have to admit I wasn't so keen on this song, but it easily gets stuck in my head. She seems to be releasing a new album, which I cannot wait for! Alexandra Stan proves she is much more sultry than her saxobeat days! Proclaiming she did it, mama! She found love, and she's releasing amazing music! I am hoping she becomes prominent again.
Alexandra Stan first became an international success with her song "Mr. Saxobeat", unfortunately she didn't maintain her success in the UK even though her hit song is still played on the radio today. I believe she is ready for a comeback, she just needs the right song that will become promoted around the world, but much like Inna, she doesn't get the recognition in the UK, she so clearly deserves. This song was written by Marcel Botezan, Sebastian Barac, J-Son, Eric Turner, David Ciente and Alexandra Stan.
The music video was directed by Bogdan Daragiu. It is quite provocative, very Miley Cyrus. I could definitely see Miley Cyrus in this music video, however Alexandra Stan pulls this off, whereas I believe Miley Cyrus wouldn't have been able to.
Sultry and sexy, Alexandra Stan shows off as some sort of dominatrix in this video. A far cry from what we know of her past, after being beaten up by her manager and then boyfriend. In this video she proves she is strong that she will never let a man rule her ever again.
The video is mainly a performance piece, although a narrative would've been perfect for this video. The choreography is performed well, however it's not so technical as we expected, on the other hand it's more complicated compared to her first few singles, but we've seen her perform so much better.
I cannot wait for her album to drop, I just hope we don't have to wait too long. She needs another worldwide hit, one that will give her prominence here in the UK again, one which will keep her in our charts. Although a good catchy song, the music video fails to keep some people engaged, she performs well but we've seen her do better.
I have literally had this song stuck in my head all day, along with 99 Souls' "The Girl Is Mine", inside my head this song fit perfectly with the lyrics of "The Girl Is Mine", and I think 99 Souls should mash it up to make an ultimate perfect song. It wasn't exactly this version of the song, it was Liberty X's version "Being Nobody", however I reckon I'll end up reviewing that in the future, and so I chose the original instead. Chaka Khan proves that nobody can sing this song better than her, and she doesn't even look like she is trying in this authentic performance based music video.
Rufus is the band in which Chaka Khan was the lead singer of, the band kickstarted her career. She left the band to concentrate on a solo career, however she was still contracted to the group. She returned to the band to record the final album. The band also consisted of, at the time of this release, Tony Maiden, Kevin Murphy, John "JR" Robinson, Bobby Watson and Dave "Hawk" Wolinski. The song was written by the latter.
The music video is mostly a performance based music video, where Chaka Khan proves how great of a singer she is. However she looks like her heart isn't into performing.
Surprisingly she is extremely relaxed, just going with the flow and singing as if she doesn't have a care in the world. Although she is an amazing singer, her performance fails to entertain.
The video also features a dancer, I was expecting some sort of narrative, however it never took off, and it was left with just some sultry dancing clips.
Overall this fails to entertain, it's too relaxed to keep the audience interested. This could've been so much better but there is no substance to it whatsoever. A brilliant song that is totally iconic, but a music video that doesn't impress.
Well this is the end of One Direction, FOR A YEAR or maybe a little more, but this is not the complete end. One Direction is not finished, they are just on hiatus, and we all know that their comeback will be one of the biggest things in music. They are taking a break from the group to do their own things, hell the video proves they deserve this, and what a brilliant last music video, for now, they will come back, I'm telling you that now! One Direction says their goodbyes in this video, for now, the band is not over, and they don't want their fans to be done with One Direction, and this video is a great representation of that.
One Direction are a four-piece boy band who hit global success after coming third on the seventh series of The X Factor. They are currently on hiatus, if you haven't already guessed, and apparently will come back in 2017. They consist of Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. They originally had a fifth member, Zayn Malik, who pulled away from the group and has recently released his debut single. This song was written by Wayne Hector, John Ryan, Ed Drewett, Julian Bunetta, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson. The song is a fair well for now to their fans, in my opinion, and they promise to reform again.
The music video is amazing, directed by Cal Aurand and Fulwell 79, it contains clips of their journey so far. They look ever so young when they were first put together on The X Factor.
They are definitely the most successful act from The X Factor, despite coming third in the competition.
The video has a lot of clips of the boys, some surprising scenes that we've not seen before, or ones that are much older. I love the friendship between them all, typical brotherly love they all clearly have.
The performance side of the video is too similar to "Drag Me Down" for my liking even though the ending is extremely sad. However the ending was apparently cut too short as they rushed back together at the end, to signify that this isn't the end of the group, but if it wasn't shown then it's suggestive that this could well be the end for One Direction.
Overall, perfect video that looks back over their career and what they have done. They have included a few clips of Zayn Malik too, even though he has been hitting out lately about the group. He has become the Geri Halliwell of One Direction. I wonder where these boys will go next.
Continuing on from yesterday and looking at the songs that inspired the most recent hit song by 99 Souls' "The Girl Is Mine", I am watching the other music video to the mashup of the amazing song. This was combined with Destiny's Child's "Girl" to create an amazing song which had a brilliant music video too. Destiny's Child's music video to "Girl" also hit the mark, but how will this one shape up? I just love how these two songs got combined together and both are extremely unrecognisable in the 99 Souls' "The Girl Is Mine", it's pure brilliance! Brandy & Monica fight over a guy through verbal verses, who wins? Girls win, never fight for a guy, because he is not worth it if it means you have to compete against someone just as good as you are.
Brandy & Monica won a lot of awards for this song, as well as a grammy. They both have had successful careers, and are definitely established singers. Although they will need a massive hit to make it back on to the charts. Brandy Norwood agreed to allow 99 Souls to use this song, but had to rerecord the song for them, as Monica Brown refused to allow them to use her vocals. So in theory Brandy has had a hit again with this song thanks to 99 Souls' "The Girl Is Mine". Monica believes the song should remain in the past as it means so much to her, which is clearly understandable, however both songs used in the 99 Souls' song are unrecognisable, I cannot believe they're the same songs, and I also find it difficult to discern where the lyrics from this song and Destiny's Child's "Girl" has come from. The track has definitely put Brandy back on the charts, and she should jump on the bandwagon and release something to allow promote her music, if she wants to get back into the music industry. The song was written by LaShawn Daniels, Rodney Jerkins, Fred Jerkins III, Japhe Tejeda and Brandy Norwood. The song hit number two in the UK, just missing out on the top spot thanks to B*Witched's "C'est La Vie".

The video is fully narrative, with a relaxed performance piece that fails to invigorate me, these girls should be giving it everything they've got, I know R&B is meant to be relaxed, but this is sit down have a hot drink kind of relaxed, not The Boy Is Mine, girl! Hands off! kind of relaxed.
The start has Brandy watching Jerry Springer, but Monica wants to watch a film, and as Monica turns her channel on her TV, the frequency automatically changes Brandy's TV. This gets them both annoyed and they turn the TV's off just to sing.
They fight with their words, but there's no passion behind they're words, I feel they are just singing, even when they're acting with the guy. Who is played by Mekhi Phifer.
They are neighbours, which kind of reminds me of Aerosmith & Run DMC's "Walk This Way", as well as Girls Aloud & Sugababes cover video of the same song "Walk This Way". It has a similar rivalry vibe, however these totally outdo this music video.
The girls' heart just isn't in it, although they clearly enjoyed the ending, when they threw out his stuff at the same time, and they're telling each other that the boy is theirs. They then decide that he isn't worth it, that's pretty obvious by this point, and the guy comes back and finds out the girls know about each other, and they aren't happy with him... It isn't too different to Destiny's Child's "Girl", no wonder, these two songs just were meant to be paired together.
Overall, amazing song although I don't think it's quite that powerful. The music video just falls flat. I really would've loved the original talking bit in the song that can be heard in the actual version of the song. I am also not so keen on the camera angles, I do not get why the camera turns on it's side, it's distracting and draws away from the music video. However it's relatable and a great narrative.
After reviewing 99 Souls "The Girl Is Mine", a mashup of this song and Brandy and Monica's "The Boy Is Mine", I had to review these music videos to see the complete difference. To be honest, when I heard this song I was shocked, this is very different to the clubbed up mashup. It's extremely R&B which we are used to from Destiny's Child, however it is not as nearly as catchy as the mashup by 99 Souls, they clearly have done a good job. Destiny's Child meet up for a coffee, as they talk about Kelly Rowland's love life and how the guy she is with isn't worthy of her, she attempts to defend herself in a verse all to herself, but Beyoncé and Michelle is having none of it.
Destiny's Child consisted of, at this time, Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. All three have a successful solo career in their own right, and they all, most recently, collaborated on a Michelle Williams' song. This song was written by Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Patrick "9th Wonder" Douthit, Sean Garrett,. Angela Beyince, Don Davis and Eddie Robinson. The song was initially written by Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams for Kelly Rowland as a request for her to end her abusive relationship. This proves how strong a friendship these girls had.
The music video, directed by Bryan Barber has two different elements. The first is the girls chilling in Beyoncé's apartment watching TV. They are watching a Sex And The City inspired video starring themselves.
The girls arrive for coffee and Beyoncé confronts Kelly Rowland about her sadness which is due to the relationship Kelly Rowland is in. We see intercut scenes that show her boyfriend coming home late and them arguing.
Michelle Williams actually gets a solo part and scene, in which she sees the boyfriend in a shop with another girl.
This is the calling card and Kelly Rowland decides to leave her boyfriend, but not before tying him up on the balcony with a pair of handcuffs wearing next to nothing.
Overall a perfect music video. I love how the girls react to the different scenes that are being shown on the TV, as if they are watching it themselves. It's a different viewing experience that adds to this entire video, surprisingly. Although I'm not so keen on the song, give me 99 Souls' "The Girl Is Mine" mashup any day, the music video is pretty much flawless.
It's my birthday today, and what a way to start it off, finding a whole new duo that is currently exciting me, and being able to promote them as my New Release this week. I have not been this excited for a duo song since Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello collaborated on "I Know What You Did Last Summer". The Girl and The Dreamcatcher proves that Disney isn't who they are when it comes to their music. Catchy and meaningful, this duo is one to watch out for, with a spooky video to boot.
The Girl and The Dreamcatcher is currently my favourite duo. They have everything we want out of Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's "I Know What You Did Last Summer", yet them two probably won't be collaborating again, whereas this duo is an official group. I'm fully excited to see where their journey will take them, hopefully many brilliant songs like this one, an amazing album, and a global hit, because they definitely deserve recognition. The duo consists of The Girl, who is Dove Cameron, and The Dreamcatcher, who is Ryan McCartan. Dove Cameron is known for playing twins Liv and Maddie in a Disney show of the same name, Ryan McCartan also stars in the show as Diggie. Disney is hitting these stars here, there and everywhere, and hopefully these two will follow the footsteps of Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. Their first single was "Written In The Stars", and this song is their follow-up single. They also released two Christmas singles last year. Keep you're eyes open for these two, I'm calling it, they will be the next big stars, if not this year, it'll definitely happen next year. They just need more recognition.
The music video is pure brilliance, filled with Pretty Little Liars vibes as well as Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello's "I Know What You Did Last Summer", the video pretty much starts with us all thinking it's going to be an amazing cover version. However the song is totally different.
A full narrative and performance piece, Dove Cameron visits the grave of Ryan McCartan, and drops a rose, which falls into his grave. His grave consists of a stage and I can just imagine him singing all day long to other dead people. Can I be buried in that graveyard in the future please? I want to hear his voice all day long, every day; but Dove Cameron has to be eventually buried there too so we can hear her amazing voice too, their harmonies are better than perfection.
The video continues and Dove Cameron envisions Ryan McCartan wherever she goes, she imagines him wherever she goes. It's his ghost or spirit coming back, wanting to see her, dance with her and obviously sing with her again.
The choreography scene is magical, The Girl and The Dreamcatcher shows us exactly what they've got, these two can dance, no doubt about that, and they prove themselves as credible dancers and singers as their emotion flows perfectly, I really would like to see these two live, it would be a show I wouldn't want to miss.
Overall a perfect song that has Eurovision vibes to it, can't we get them to represent the UK in this year's Eurovision? Especially since duos seem to do well in the competition, and this song is exactly what is doing well in the contest recently. The video is on point, perfect and although gives vibes of other things we may have watched, it doesn't matter, everything is a copy of everything no matter which way we look at things. Nothing's completely original even if we originally come up with the idea, with no inspiration. I can't wait to see where this group will go. The future is more than bright for these two.
Anya is my Thursday revisit, purely because I doubt she will appear on my blog again for some time. And what a cracking debut single from this girl! Catchy yet relaxing with a ghost at the wheel of the truck, Anya and her lover boy lye down sensually touching one another. Making me slightly jealous, I want that in my life, although I don't think I could put my life in the hands of a ghost though.
Anya, real name Anya Marian, looks like she won't be returning to the music industry for a while now, although I truly believe it's time for her to make a comeback, with the amount of Romanian stars making it big nowadays, especially the international successes of Inna and Alexandra Stan, Romanian artists should be jumping on the bandwagon, and push their music out there while Romanian dance songs are popular. Anya could be the next big thing, but only if she goes for it.
The music video is sweet and innocent, it was supposed to be the next big hit after "Mr Saxobeat" by Alexandra Stan, but it just didn't hit off. Anya just didn't become the star people was hoping her to become,
There's complete focus of lying in the back of this truck, which reminds me of the short scene in Inna's music video "Crazy Sexy Wild / Tu Si Eu".
There's not a lot to comment on, apart from the sweetness of this, although she is quite daring letting the truck drive itself whilst she goes and visits the boy in the back, as well as looking sexy on the front of the truck, although that is a bit more than daring, yet we all want to try this one day surely.
Overall, interesting, different, doesn't exactly go with the club vibes of the song, however it does relate to the song well.
After mentioning this song in a previous review, I just had to review this music video. This song is my jam in the club, only I much prefer the Iggy Azalea remix version. Along with many other songs, this is one of those that gets me right on to the dance floor. Tinashe shows off her incredible dance moves, whilst looks sexy in this perfect visual music video.

Her biggest hit to date is a song she is featured on which is Snakehips' song "All My Friends" which also features Chance The Rapper. This song was written by Tinashe Kachingwe, Mikkel Storleer Eriksen, Tor Erik Hermansen, Magnus August Høiberg and Bleta Rhexa.
The music video, directed by Ben Mor, is visually perfect, I can't stop being shocked by how amazing this is, I just wish I was Tinashe in this video, or even just one of the backing dancers. I want to be 50ft. in the air in a shipping crate, dancing away!
The dancing is definitely a major talking point in this video, hell Tinashe is so showing off, but it is far from arrogant because that girl has got some moves. Credit for the choreographer in this video, totally. I love the All Hands On Deck dance, definitely one I will be pulling off in the clubs if this song ever gets played soon.
A few of the dance moves remind me of Justin Bieber's "Sorry", great dance moves, put in to a perfect dance sequence, which is then created into amazing choreography, which is then performed on point by Tinashe and her amazing backing dancers. This is pure awesomeness.
The setting of a shipping yard doesn't relate to the song, but I don't care, I am so into the video, engaged entirely and surprised by how these dance moves are performed to a point where no error can be found, this is just pure perfection and I cannot give this video a lesser rating. Perfect performance visual piece, one that makes me want to see Tinashe perform live.
This song randomly played on my phone as I have it on my iTunes as part of a compilation CD. It is probably one of my favourite songs, and was definitely stuck in my head all day. The song on my phone, however is a remix version, which definitely sounds better overall. Anya looks sexy and provocative in this flaunty music video, attempting to lure in the gorgeous model that is in the video. I wouldn't mind a piece of that!

She has an extensive collection on iTunes and it looks like she has recently released a single. She is one of many Romanian artists attempting to break into the music industry, and only the best of them make it. Yet, I'm sure she can do it with this voice. She just has to keep batting out tune after tune and she will get exactly where she needs to be. I have every faith in Anya, I know she can become a mainstream success.
The music video isn't much. It's very simple and it's clearly low budget, and yet we don't need fancy settings, we don't need a lot of hype, we don't need amazing extras. All we need is this beautiful singer and her very sexy model friend.
It links in perfectly with the song which is about fooling her for the day, letting a guy into her heart, or into her bed. I know that feeling, it's probably why the song connects with me a lot. I've had a lot of guys fool me in the past, and I do end up letting them. I just want a few more to fool me before I'm completely finished.
The video is good, nothing amazing, but nothing too simple. Would've totally liked to have seen the guy with his shirt off, I know he takes it off, but we only see his back, slightly disappointing, but I guess it's all part of the video in fooling us. Making us want something we can't have. Anya proves she is a little tease with this great music video.
It's Monday, so that means I look at the UK chart top 10, and with Shawn Mendes at number one with "Stitches" after knocking off Justin Bieber's "Love Myself", I haven't got much choice for Chart Mondays. Only two options were available, and so I went with this one as I haven't heard the song or seen the video. Tinashe looks like a spoilt princess high on the top of a building looking out on the cityscape, while she's pretty and perfect, her friends are all down below getting wasted whilst queuing for a club with Chance The Rapper.
Snakehips are an electronic duo consisting of Oliver Lee and James Carter. They previously released a single with Sinead Harnett called "Days With You". They are up and coming and this single has scored their first UK top 10 single. I can't wait to see where they will go next, the journey for Snakehips has only just started! Collaborating with Tinashe, real name Tinashe Kachingwe, is probably one of the most versatile vocalists in the music industry at the moment, some of her songs I love "All Hands On Deck" for one, and then others I'm not as into. I think she is going to be one to watch this year, for sure. As for Chance The Rapper, real name Chancelor Bennett has had bits of fame over here in the UK, but it's only on featured singles, with this one being his highest charting single to date. Personally I don't think he has a chance as a credible charting rapper, like what's with the name, for starters? We all used to laugh at the terrible stage name whenever Justin Bieber's "Confident" appeared on the music channels. And I'm sure this song charting so highly won't help him all that much in becoming a success. Maybe that's all he wants though. The song was written by Snakehips, Cass Lowe and Chance The Rapper.

The start is engaging, it makes you wonder what is at the top of the steps, and yes there's a beautiful cityscape and Tinashe is sitting prettily at the top, but it wasn't anything amazing.
The camera man continues to act quite drunk throughout the video as it moves in funny ways. It must have drank the other half of the bottle that Chance The Rapper was drinking in the line. The camera man gets even worse towards the end. It really looks like Tinashe is the only sober one.
I love seeing young love, many couples are kissing, and yet it makes me feel needy. I remember those days, I haven't had many of them, but one or two is enough to make me dream of the next one. Maybe I'll get lucky on my birthday, or maybe I won't.
Overall a compact music video if you consider all the stupid camera angles used throughout and the motions. Tinashe looks good, yet she looks like she's looking down on people who go out and drink, or queue to get into clubs. Chance The Rapper is just drunk, easy to relate but nothing worth watching. The queue and the bouncer is interesting, and yet the queue doesn't move either. There really isn't a lot to like about this video.
I knew one day I'd have to review an Iggy Azalea music video, and to be honest I've been dreading it, because they are so perfect and amazing and well thought out, that I'm going to have to write a lot about it because she packs a lot into just a music video. Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX transform themselves into Clueless characters, with enough sass to remake the whole entire film, the girls pay the perfect homage to Clueless.
Iggy Azalea, real name Amethyst Kelly, got her stage name from her pet dog she used to own called Iggy, the last name came from the street that her family grew up on, only because her grandfather told her she can't have a one-word stage name. Now she's a household name, hits across the globe, number ones here there and everywhere, there is no stopping this girl. She is on fire, and she isn't going to stop. Charli XCX isn't far behind Iggy Azalea, also becoming very mainstream. Her real name is Charlotte Aitchison. However her music is more like dirbs and drabs as it jumps in and out of the UK chart as well as other worldwide charts. Will she ever establish herself on the UK charts officially? Or will she always not quite make the cut? Fancy was written by Amethyst Amelia Kelly, Charlotte Aitchison, George Astasio, Jason Pebworth, Jon Mills, Jonathan Christopher Shave and Kurtis McKenzie.
The song will always hold a significant reference to me. After my Grandfather passed away, me and my family spent time clearing out his bungalow in Devon. My brother and I had to return home early, and we played this in my brother's car. As we were singing along to it, we changed the lyrics from "LA to Tokyo" to "Devon to Birmingham", as that was where we were going. I will always think of that day whenever I hear this song.

I love everything about this video, I like how the scenes replicate some iconic scenes in Clueless, apparently. The video shows that Iggy Azalea can dance, much to her not-so-keen interest in dancing, as we know from talk about her collaboration with Britney Spears for "Pretty Girls".
Overall, a great music video that has updated iconic scenes from the film Clueless, these include the digital wardrobe that is on her iPad, the debate scene, where Iggy Azalea is wearing her chosen outfit, which is totally more updated than what Cher is wearing, exuding sex appeal. Lunch time is an exact replica as well as the highway during a driving lesson. The party scene is totally upgraded with on point choreography, and sexy outfits. The sport scene ensemble is good inspiration, and Iggy Azalea once again proves she isn't as bad as a dancer as she makes out to be. The classroom scene is on point including the whatever sign. Is there nothing they missed out? If you're looking for a perfect music video I will always recommend Iggy Azalea's music videos, she thinks of everything and hits top marks every time!
I had difficulty coming up with a music video to review today. So instead I let YouTube decide, and thanks to it's suggestions on the homepage, it enlightened me to Anne-Marie. A cross between Katy Perry and Jessie J, Anne-Marie hits out with an extremely catchy song that is already stuck in my head, and a music video that not only puts the meaning of a performance to a new level, but the narrative works wonders.
Anne-Marie recently came to my attention when she collaborated with Wretch 32 on song "Alright With Me", which failed to officially chart on the UK singles chart, however it made the UK's R&B and Indie charts. I still believe Anne-Marie is one to watch for 2016. Her vocals are a lot stronger on various other tracks. Yet this song is still catchy nonetheless.
Yet again it's another solid performance from this girl. I love the setting where she's on top of the caravans. Her quirky style really shines in this music video, allowing us to understand her as both a person and an artist. We'd never have a dull moment with Anne-Marie in our lives.
The narrative is exciting, they want to do it right, because they really like each other, but is it really real? I like the whole idea behind it, yet it isn't played out long enough to establish a connection and I believe that is the way it was supposed to be.
I love the visuals, it really works and makes Anne-Marie more interesting.
Overall, a great video, with an amazing song which is now stuck in my head. I am definitely stating that this girl is one we all need to watch for 2016, and if she doesn't make it, then we've lost a truly amazing singer.
As soon as I saw the thumbnail for this video, I did my very best to find another new release music video, however I couldn't find one, and so had to resort to this. First time watching this video, and first time I have heard this song, and this is quite the tune, which I was not expecting. Sneakbo, MoStack and J Spades release a great song that even has me liking this rap, the video takes place on a car park.
Sneakbo, real name Agassi Odusina, has had a few charting hits in the past. He has had a few legal disputes in the past too, but he's attempting to redeem himself. This song was first uploaded online in September, it has had a make-over with some other artists providing a verse each, and Sneakbo starts the new year with a song that is deserving of a charting hit! The song features MoStack, who is up and coming, he nails this verse in this song, making me want to listen to more of his songs. As for J Spades, I am not so sure, I lost interest when he started rapping, eager to hear the chorus again. A great song, that I hope charts somewhere in the UK chart, however I don't see that happening, and this might just be one of those great rap songs that never becomes popular although it definitely deserves to be.
The music video was directed by Jay Vertex. Set in a car park, there isn't a lot to comment on.
The rapping is on point, and the performance piece of the video is very relaxed. Nothing too over the top, but nothing to wow us. It felt like we were taken back to the streets, where rapping was done in a group, and rap battles was common in music videos. This worked well, although I don't understand the women behind. It would've worked better without them as they don't add anything to the video.
The various other scenes to do with the car park are interesting. The bikers / cyclists riding around makes this feel more real and goes with the relaxing vibes we are given from the performance piece. What helps the most is the car scene. The Ferrari looks stylish and with the guy sitting on the bonnet while it's moving just looks natural. Come on, we have to admit that we want to do that one day.
The ending is surreal. It's out of context, doesn't make sense and yet brings our attention right back around. Sneakbo turns into a cat. Like seriously... When did that happen? And how? No links, but cats are relaxing creatures. And relaxing is all what this video is about.
Overall, an amazing rap song that should so chart on Friday, although I don't see it happening, especially with a Monday release date. The music video is not amazing, by any standards, but it doesn't disappoint, that's for sure. I'm not too keen on the ghostly tone used throughout the video, it distracts from the entire visual.
I haven't seen this music video in some time, and Justin Bieber has quite the baby face! I am reviewing this music video for my Thursday Revisit, as I previously reviewed Justin Bieber's "Purpose: The Movement" collection of promotional videos for his most recent album. Justin Bieber's first top ten hit here in the UK, he makes a fool of himself in the video, ever heard of coming on way too strong? Whatever happened to playing it cool? And stupid girl gave in in the end.
Justin Bieber started at just 16, but he looks like he's 13 with that baby face. This was his first big hit around the world, but as we all know, he improved as he got older, and he just got hit after hit after hit. This song was written by Justin Bieber, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart, Terius "The-Dream" Nash, Christopher Bridges (Ludacris) and Christina Milian. Who knew the latter was a co-writer to this song? Christina Milian was, at the time, The-Dream's wife. The song is catchy, and it's not a surprise it charted so well worldwide. Justin Bieber surprises us all as his vocals are pretty much perfect on this track, especially since this isn't an easy song to sing.
The music video was directed by Ray Kay. The video features Jasmine Villegas also known as Jasmine V, as Justin Bieber's love interest, as well as various stars who are Drake, Lil Twist and Tinashe. The Rangers are a part of the dance crew.
Justin Bieber just doesn't know when to give in. Jasmine V plays hard to get, and at the very start it's clear she isn't interested, and yet Justin Bieber doesn't leave her alone. He shows off way too much, enough to put me off from the first second.
His dancing isn't the best. The choreography isn't outstanding, yet when performed, it works. However Justin Bieber fails to convey the moves properly, even though he nails the sequences, he is focusing so hard on getting the moves right, that he isn't even looking at his love interest at all. Jasmine V, you should've stayed away, he wouldn't ever be dancing with you, he'll be too busy trying to look good on the dance floor. As for Jasmine V, she rarely danced in this video, and when she does it's short snapshots, she obviously didn't nail the choreography as well as her other dancers.
Performance wise, Justin Bieber doesn't make me want to see him live. There's no passion behind what he is singing, and yet again he attempts to show off by making up some freestyle moves that fails to keep me interested. Ludacris attempts to have fun, but there's no pulling back this video on the performance side.
Overall, I liked this idea of this all taking place at a bowling alley. But this is just too much for me. Justin Bieber comes across way too strong for my liking, and his dancing may be on point, but he is focusing too hard on the steps.
Whoever said persistence was a waste of time? Karen Harding proves that taking a risk and appearing on multiple talent shows doesn't only show you can take rejection, but it can also get you a record deal. Karen Harding delights us in her debut single's music video, her stage presence is obvious, although she fails to capture us entirely, great singer, visually beautiful, Karen Harding is one to watch for 2016!
Karen Harding first appeared on TV as an entrant for 'Your Country Needs You', the UK's selection for Eurovision 2010. She failed to make it past round one and was eliminated. The winner was Josh Dubovie, who was the third UK entrant to come last in the competition. Pretty sure Karen Harding would've done better. She next appeared on the tenth series of The X Factor, but was eliminated during the six chair challenge. And now she's made a name for herself, and hit the top ten of the UK chart with this banger. It just shows persistence does work. The song was written by Karen Harding and Uzo Emenike (MNEK).
Directed by Carly Cussen, the video is set in a club, and Karen Harding is just arriving, looking secy and ready to show who she is as an artist.
This debut song is perfect for clubs, and so I expected some sort of dance sequence, and although Karen Harding is seen dancing, it looks more like it was choreography she made up so that it doesn't look like she's just singing the song.
There is a group of dancers, which Karen Harding is with at certain times, however she isn't dancing with them, especially when the beat picks up and the dance group shows us what they've got, I just wish Karen Harding was dancing with them.
Overall a great performance-based music video for the song, however it gives us no narrative whatsoever, and the video doesn't give us much insight into Karen Harding, can she even dance? We need something more from her to really capture our attention, because this song is definitely something.
Finally, JoJo has released her third and final music video from her tringle, with dynamic effects. Personal, inspirational and full empathy, this video pulls at the heart strings, JoJo is a vision, open, free and she's not letting anything or anyone bring her down. I need to see her live!
JoJo gave us a snippet of future songs back in 2015. Real name Joanna Levesque, she is ready to hit the music industry by storm, once again, her tringle created a major social buzz and the songs she released: "When Love Hurts", "Say Love" and this one are all technically brilliant, a perfect glimpse into her future releases. She is going to nail this album, and it will definitely be her best one to date. The song was written by Nikki Flores, Anton Malmberg Hård af Segerstad, Joy Deb and Linnea Deb.

I love how the actors, as well as JoJo relax on the couch in every which way they feel, this really works, it's like they're opening their minds, abnormalling reality to what we are used to (yes I know abnormalling is not a word, but it's what's going on). Open and free yet isolating and alone.
JoJo shows how amazing a performer she is, just watch her, she believes in every word of this song. This really means something to her. Her vocals are stunning as always, but it's her presentation of the song as she performs it out in the open, all alone. She isn't isolated at all, she is telling us the story and she knows there's this audience clinging on to every word she is singing, so she gives it her all.
I can't wait for her album, the sooner it gets released, the better. It may become the most underrated album of 2016, but we all know it will be amazing nonetheless.
