I have literally just reviewed this for Outlet Magazine (article awaiting editor approval), and I just had to include it on my blog because it is absolutely incredible. It deserves millions more views than it has received, and so I hope I manage to send a few more its way with this blog post, as well as my constant viewing. This is a total must-watch music video, and as soon as I saw it in my email, I knew I would be writing about it because it is truly unforgettable in every way. Watch Jake Miller be some sort of hero in this Mad Max themed music video for his catchy song "Can't Help Myself".
Jake Miller is an American singer-songwriter who was originally signed to a major record label but he is now an independent artist. The album this song has come from is his first album release as an independent artist, titled "2:00am In LA". The whole album is addicting and just shows how passionate he is when it comes to his music. He went viral in the past with his collaboration with Travie McCoy on the song "Dazed and Confused", whilst his most popular solo track is "First Flight Home". This song hasn't gained all that much momentum, and nor has this incredible music video. But it'll be one of my treasured hits, that's for sure. The song was written by Jake Miller and Cade Larson.
Directed by Christian Bresleaur & Edgar Esteves, the inspiration for this music video actually came from Mad Max: Fury Road - so it's no surprise it has a Mad Max theme all around it. It is a fully narrative video, which starts off explaining what has happened to the war, thanks to what the reporters tell us, and Jake Miller also proclaims he is one of the last few survivors.
He awakes in the desert - specifically the Mojave Desert in this case - covered in sand. After searching for some time, he finds a motorcycle and drives away. He comes across a stunning blonde woman who is chained up in a ruined city. Instead of driving off, like he should've done, he can't help himself and has to rescue her.
After shooting off the chains, and the two of them having a moment, the guards spot them and start firing. They shoot his bike and fuel spills from the tank. So now he can't escape, so they hide behind a wrecked car as he fires back. They start running through the ruined town, but one of the guards finds him and pulls the trigger on a handheld flamethrower. They turn around and run but the other guard is around the corner and hits him in the face, knocking him out.
They drag him and tie him to a chair. They throw a bucket of water over him to wake him up, and then this is where the awesome plot twist comes in. The woman he saved turns out to be the ringleader, and it was all a setup. She straddles him on the chair before the guards remove their masks to reveal they are women too, and they're clearly sexually frustrated. They have their hands all over his body before the rest is left to our imaginations. According to Jake Miller, the women use him to populate the Earth.
The final scene in the video sees Jake Miller chained up in an amphitheatre-like arena. For those of you who say it doesn't relate to the song, you are incorrect. Jake Miller can't help himself when there's a beautiful woman involved and look at what's happened. It's a short, yet obvious, correlation between the song and the music video; one that fully works in every way.
Overall, this music video is beyond anything we could've expected. Thinking out of the box, yet relating to the song, is something I love to see when it comes to music videos. It's a different interpretation of the track, whilst still making sense in every way. This is full-on incredible and is more than worthy of the rating below. I hope he releases more film-like music videos.
Once again, I wrote up an article about this for CelebMix, but of course, I was going to cover this on my own blog. I am a fan of Micke Moreno since he collaborated with Antonia on the track "El Amor", and he has incredible vocals that he has shown as being an artist on Global Records Latin; so, I can't wait to see what the future brings him. This has really cemented Global Records Latin and displays the calibre of artists on their label. This catchy song will certainly gain momentum for the label and the boys. Watch Kryan, Fabyan, Yoandri, and Micke Moreno come together in this music video that easily shows off the capabilities of each artist for their Latin single "Eres Tu".
Kryan is known for his time on La Voz Teens, where he was a semi-finalist. This is his first official release and is sure the great big step that he needed. I expect him to release more music under this label, along with the other three guys in this collaboration. Fabyan, full name Fabyan Sanchez, is known for his time on La Banda (the show that gave us CNCO). He came sixth in the show's second season, missing out on being in the five-piece group Mix5. He recently released his debut single under Global Records Latin, titled "Sin Ti". Then there's Yoandri, full name Yoandri Cabrera, he is also from La Banda, only from Season One, where he came sixth, missing out on being in five-piece boy band CNCO. After the show, he self-released three singles that have gained a lot of streams, this signing could certainly allow him to go global. And, lastly, we have Micke Moreno, who has already kick-started his career on Global Records with "El Amor", which features the incredible singer Antonia. His vocals are stunning on this single and I can't wait to see what the future brings him. This song was written by Melo Cardenas Brian Andres, Fabyan Dariel Sanchez Lopez, Yoandri Cabrera, Micke Alejandro Moreno, and Alexandru Cotoi.
Directed by Khaled Mokhtar, this music video tells a short story whilst allowing all four guys to shine in profile performance pieces. Engaging from start to finish with a few surprising and unplanned scenes, this visual definitely brings the Latin vibes.
Filmed in Bucharest, the boys declared that the area reminds them of home and that the scenes definitely bring the Latin American vibe, which is certainly the intention. The boys mentioned about there always being a grandmotherly figure in their home neighbourhoods and whilst on set they came across this old woman who was more than happy to be involved in the music video - talk about a great coincidence.
The boys are walking around when they spot some women on a balcony and they flirt for some time before setting off to a club to dance the night away. The boys each have a solo performance piece that truly allows each of them to shine whilst being surrounded by the women.
Overall, this definitely has a typical Latin music video vibe to it. It allows Global Records Latin to put their stamp into this music genre, and it truly works. Each of the guys will, no doubt, start their incredible music careers under this record label and I certainly look forward to following their every step.
Yes, we're all shocked I haven't reviewed this music video yet; but, I'm going to pretend I've been waiting for a Thursday Revisit - like this backdated date - to review this visual. It's one addictive track, but it's a grower of a song, which explains why it didn't live up to the chart success of "Wings". The song is quite dark and spooky, and they sure followed up the track with a similar one called "Lightning", which never got an official single release or a music video - however, we all presume that the "to be continued..." at the end would've been perfect follow-through to "Lightning", if that ever became something. I doubt they'll continue this music video on, as so much time has passed, but we can keep hoping that they do. Watch Little Mix perform their song on a tall tower, whilst each member have their own time in the spotlight as they get revenge on a guy in this music video for "DNA".
Little Mix are a four-piece girl group consisting of Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall. They were the first group to win The X Factor in the UK and are still the only group to have done so in its 14 series. They are one of the biggest girl groups in the world and definitely the biggest in the UK. They bring fire to everything they do, and they're gearing up to release their platinum edition of their latest album Glory Days which gained them their first UK number one on the Albums Chart. I can't wait for new music, but I'm hoping it's not too long for a new album. This song was written by Thomas Barnes, Peter Kelleher, Ben Kohn, Iain James, Perrie Edwards, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, and Gavin Jones.
Directed by Sarah Chatfield, the music video is more of a profile and performance piece, with snippets of a potential story-line that's not quite fleshed out fully. There is a "To Be Continued..." found at the end of the music video, which was later confirmed that people who went to the DNA tour in 2013 would've seen the follow-up, or so we presume.
We start off watching Perrie Edwards driving a car with a guy who she has kidnapped, bound and gagged. Jesy Nelson's scene is pretty similar although she's in a different car. Then we've got Jade Thirlwall on the side of a building, next to a covered window where a guy's shadow can be seen - she fully stands out in this visual. Then, Leigh-Anne Pinnock has her scene at the end, where she makes out like she's devised all the plans.
It's a strong narrative, but one that should've been developed more. The girls are fierce in the performance piece, where they're dancing on top of a building. They're on fire, although a full choreographed sequence would've engaged the viewers a bit more. Then you've got them running along the street, which doesn't add all that much to the music video.
Overall, it's dark and twisty which shows Little Mix in a whole different light compared to "Wings". They sure know how to bring it, but they've definitely come a long way since this music video. It's all right but could have been so much better if the narrative was played out much more.
I recently found out I would be going to an Alex Aiono gig for CelebMix. Those of you who know I've backdated this, would know I have already been to this gig (set in the future taking into account the date of this music video) and my gig review can be viewed here. This is probably my favourite Alex Aiono song and I truly couldn't wait to review the music video on my blog because it is a highly emotional song that many can relate to. It went off when he performed it at the O2 Academy 2 Islington; and, he sure knows how to bring it. Watch Alex Aiono perform this track, as we watch clips of a past relationship that didn't go well in this incredible music video for his song "Question".
Alex Aiono was initially a YouTube star, but his music career has certainly picked up. He's one of the biggest rising male artists in the music industry and he has collaborated with some great stars to date. His music videos have millions of views and he's got a killer voice that will certainly take him a long way. This song acted as his official second single on a major record label, following "Work The Middle". I adore this track, and I hope he releases something similar in the future that brings him an international chart success. The song was written by Jamie Sanderson, John Mitchell, Oliver Peterhof, A. Izquierdo, Mike Molina, and Nelson Kyle.
Directed by Hamish Stephenson, this music video is pure fire from start to finish. It relates to the song and has both a performance piece and a narrative piece. Alex Aiono truly shines throughout.
The narrative is on point, it's clear they have taken the story of the song and transformed it into this amazing visual. I particularly like the ghostly apparitions while Alex Aiono is sitting on the couch - now that's a clever idea. There are more clips intersected throughout that shows how their loving relationship slowly fizzled out.
We never meet this new love of his that he sings about, but that's not what the song is about anyway, so watching him being in a new relationship is a whole other story. The dancing is fully lit. He brings it in perfect timing to the dancers in the background, showing that he can pull off an energetic gig - which he certainly did in London - and easily nail choreography.
He's highly passionate about this song, and has managed to connect with the meaning effortlessly. This entire music video is brilliant in every way. Alex Aiono is a future star, and if he keeps bringing songs and music videos like this, I'm sure we'll be seeing an international chart sensation from him very soon.
YouTube Recommendations have come through for me again today, as I attempt to catch up with this blog. After previously watching Monoir's "Save The Night" featuring Alexandra Stan, which is set in a similar location, it's great that I've come across Liam Ferrari's "Run To You". This place is absolutely gorgeous, and totally a place we all want to visit for a couple of days. I'm so glad to see this scenery again in a music video! Watch Liam Ferrari perform in a stunning Greek Island where he sings and dances through this new single "Run To You".
Liam Ferrari is first and foremost a self-taught dancer. His videos have had millions of views on YouTube and Instagram. He also gained fame as part of a group called Straight Up who competed on the fifth season of The X Factor (Australia); they were eliminated at the Judges' Houses stage. Recently, he has turned to solo music, and it sure has become extremely popular after his viral dance videos. This song is a total killer, that has a Justin Bieber-esque to it. I truly believe Liam Ferrari will become big as the years go by. He's clearly passionate about this and prepared to make it his career; with his sort of following, he is going to be massive, especially if he keeps bringing amazingly catchy songs like this one. The song was written by Rory Noble.
Directed by Sean Higgins (Shotography), this music video is a pure performance piece that showcases who Liam Ferrari is. It was shot in a gorgeous Greek Island that totally looks scenically beautiful. We bet his whole team enjoyed every minute of being there.
What we do know from this music video, is that no one would be disappointed at a Liam Ferrari concert. Not only does he look so hot, but he performs with electric energy that transcends to every viewer.
His dancing is on point and he nails it in every way. However, as with most solo dance freestyle, it feels awkward. Although he brings it, I'd love to see backing dancers to allow him to truly shine even more. It just feels like he's trying to show off in this visual, which is what we definitely shouldn't be thinking.
Overall, the scenic beauty is what attracted me to the music video; and, I won't lie that his shirtless visuals are nice to look at. However, I don't feel engaged or amazed at his performance throughout. It's energetic and there's a lot of dancing going on, but the dancing doesn't relate to the song apart from the upbeat feel of the track. I'm missing the emotions and the feelings of this song.
Now I've been waiting to review this music video, knowing full well that it would be one of my Chart Mondays reviews; and here we are, even though I am so far behind on my blog - but I'm catching up. A total of 16 days behind, again; it seems that I can't quite catch up, but that doesn't stop me; for those of you who know me, you know that I won't give up and I will catch up, eventually. To do so, I'll need to keep focused. At the time of this blog, Post Malone is still at number one on the UK Singles Chart, with "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage, with no music video - I'm not so keen on the song, so I'm glad I don't have to feature it on my blog. This opened the Top 10 again, and since this is dropping down, I thought it was about time to feature it on my blog! Watch CNCO and Little Mix flirt across an open-plan club as they suggest they're into one another in this music video for "Reggaetón Lento (Remix)".
CNCO are a five-piece Latin band consisting of Christopher Vélez, Richard Camacho, Joel Pimentel, Erick Brian Colón, and Zabdiel De Jesùs. They were formed on the Latin TV show La Banda, winning a five-year contract with Sony Music Latin. It seems that many stars are coming from La Banda, recently; especially with Global Records snapping up some of the artists, including Micke Moreno. Latin music sure is big, so it's no surprise this song has done well with the help of Little Mix collaborating. CNCO are sure ones to watch as Latin music takes over the world. As for Little Mix, they're already highly established and are still the only group to win The X Factor in the UK. They consist of Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, and Jade Thirlwall. They're one of the most successful girl groups in the world, and continue to release hit after hit after hit. The group is gearing up to release their Platinum Edition of their UK number one album Glory Days and I literally cannot wait! This song is a remix of CNCO's original track "Reggaetón Lento (Bailemos)" which hit the charts hard in Latin America. All before the remix allowed the track to soar high in the UK and Europe. The song was written by Luis Angel O'Neill, Eric Perez, Jadan Andino, Jorge Class, Jean Rodríguez, Richard Camacho, and Camille Purcell.
The music video was directed by Marc Klasfeld, and Little Mix confirmed that they never met CNCO; so this whole video has been edited cleverly. It also explains why they never go to the dance floor.
Both groups flirt with one another across the bar, it seems interesting that there's five CNCO members and only four Little Mix members, this is either not going to end well, or one of the guys are going to be left alone - sounds like my usual night out for me.
They are in separate booths on the balcony of a club. The dance floor below them is thriving with dancers - that's where I would probably be if I were at this club, it's difficult to get me off the dance floor.
Each of the girls, step up in front of the group to sing their parts of the song, allowing the camera to fully identify each of the members of Little Mix and to prove how hot each of them are. Differently, CNCO remain seated when singing their individual parts, which kind of makes the video focus on Little Mix a hell of a lot more than it does on CNCO.
They send secret messages and gifts to one another, but what is most surprising is that the CNCO guys get on to the dancefloor in the middle and dances with some of the dancers; all the while, leaving Little Mix in their booth. Surely after all that flirting CNCO and Little Mix would've got together on the dancefloor.
Overall, they have totally managed to pull this music off to some extent. It could've been so much better if this was actually done with each of the acts opposite one another; however, editing has made this intricately engaging, regardless. I would've liked to have seen Little Mix get on the dancefloor and dance with guys, teasing CNCO right back.
This song came to my attention as it frequented a lot of compilation albums that I own on my iTunes. It is a great song, and it's no surprise that Pharrell Williams is listed as a songwriter and singing harmonies in the song's chorus and appears in the music video - it certainly has his stamp all over it. It's Cris Cab's biggest single to date, but it never hit it off in the UK, although it went viral in so many other countries, launching up the charts. It certainly started off his career, and I expect he will continue to bring out catchy songs. Watch Cris Cab and Pharrell Williams in this black and white visual using mirrored imagery and reflections to warp the viewers' concepts and adding risk whilst hiding dangerous imagery, in this clever music video for "Liar Liar".
Cris Cab, real name Cristian Cabrerizo, is an American singer-songwriter who has been building up his career over the past few years with some amazing collaborations. This was his second solo single and definitely hit the charts hard around the world, his follow-up singles have done okay, but nothing compared the success of this song. I expect his working on new music that will be massive once released as he has that voice that truly brings something new to the music industry. This song was written by Dallas Austin, Pharrell Williams, and Cristian Cabrerizo.
Directed by Alex Topaller & Dan Shapiro, this music video warps all of our senses. It has a max mirroring conception that makes it difficult to follow and makes you question what is exactly happening. It's also in black and white, which you all know I don't approve of.
It is a performance piece and Cris Cab certainly attempts to bring it, but I feel like he isn't feeling this song all that much and so isn't performing it to his best ability - or we're just so distracted by the reflections and the symmetry.
There are various women shown throughout, and they remove clothes during some of the scenes, with the mirrored imagery being the only reason we don't see them naked. It feels all kaleidoscopic throughout and the constant movement of the camera and the editing just isn't working for me.
Overall, this video is probably a better concept on paper, but in actual fact, it fails to draw in the viewers. Guys will like the removal of clothes, however they might as well watch other videos for that sort of thing, rather than this one. Pharrell Williams makes a cameo throughout and it's just weird seeing him there but not taking an active role, especially since he isn't featured on the song itself.
Well, I hadn't planned on writing about this "Personal Collection" music video for this song, but I actually don't have time to be choosy as I am 14 days behind on my blog, and if I don't start to attempt to catch up, I never am going to. I have back-dated this review like I have been doing with my previous ones. This track is another addicting track and sees quite the collaboration come together. The music video could be better though but it's not all bad. Hailee Steinfeld came to our attention when she starred in Pitch Perfect 2. That film has literally kickstarted her career and she has gone on to do amazingly. I'm still loving "Most Girls", it's such a great song and music video. I expect an album is on its way, as she has already dropped an EP. This sees her collaborate with Swedish DJ, Alesso, real name Alessandro Lindblad, who is one of the top DJs in the world. He brings out amazing hits that we all love and is definitely expanding his career. There are two features on this track, Florida Georgia Line and Watt. The former is a two-piece country band consisting of Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard. They went viral with their debut song "Cruise" which did amazingly in the country charts. They continue to send out country waves with their music and it is really working as they establish their name in the country music industry. The latter, Watt, real name Andrew Watt, is an American musician and songwriter. He has certainly written a lot of songs we all know and love. It's time for him to now become known as an artist himself, and I look forward to seeing where his career takes him. This song was written by Alexandra Tamposi, Andrew Wotman, Brian Lee, Alessandro Lindblad, and Jamie Lindell.
Directed by Erik Lauer, this Personal Collection music video definitely stands out over other music videos we've seen before. Yet, the concept and the theme isn't something new and it does fail to capture the audience because we've seen it all before.
The idea takes us back to Cloverfield and certainly transports us into the music video. It also manages to show a genuine side to Hailee Steinfeld throughout. However, there isn't an established connection to the song, and it just feels like they took random video clips of their day.
I'm not going to lie, this does make me a bit jealous. I wish I had the money, the time, and the weather to just hang out with my friends and have a fun time. Instead, I'm fighting for a career, applying for jobs, and rarely seeing my friends.
Overall, this music video isn't half bad, it's just not that good either. The amount of times we've watch stars have a good time together is lengthy, and this isn't anything new. The only difference is that the camera transports the viewers into the visual as if we're there watching everything unfold, however we have seen this a few times before.
After reviewing this for CelebMix, I knew this was going to be my New Release - mainly because the song is such a banger and deserves so much more recognition. The music video doesn't live up to the song but it relates amazingly, regardless. Laura Tesoro is one of my favourite singers to come from Eurovision, and she is completely nailing it with her follow-up songs. She deserves to have international success, just listen to her awesome vocals on this. Watch Laura Tesoro train and box before she goes on stage to perform her brand new song in this music video for "Beast".
Laura Tesoro first came to my attention when she was announced as the representative for Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. She sang "What's The Pressure", gaining 181 points, placing her 10th in the Grand Final. She charted with the song in various countries, and followed it up with the awesome track "Higher". Before Eurovision, she came second in The Voice van Vlaanderen season three. Now, this new track is out, and we're all feeling beastly whenever we all hear it. It was written by Mikke Vepsäläinen, Emelie Sederholm, and Elina Stridh.
This music video was directed by Aäron Beyers & Eloi Cyuzuzo Nsanzabandi. There are two scenes going on, one is Laura Tesoro training and boxing, and the other is her and her team preparing for a gig.
She shows her beast side in the training sessions. She is focused and prepared to give it her all, just like she does on stage. It really works together and showcases Laura Tesoro in a light we haven't seen before, allowing her fans to get to know her.
As for the stage side, this is clearly her passion. She enjoys performing and really manages to transcend her energy to the crowd. This is one female singer I hope I get to see live one day.
Overall, the music video really works and totally relates to the song. Laura Tesoro is certainly a rising female singer who we all need to watch out for as she continues to release addicting songs like this one. I sure hope an album is on its way - because we all so want a Laura Tesoro album!
Okay, I'm still catching up on my blogs and here is a Thursday Revisit. I am not going to lie, I have never been so keen on this song. I do have it on my iTunes, it's just not all that catchy. However, she absolutely nails it in this music video, which I haven't seen before today, and now I'm in love with the song. This is why I love music videos, it can really change people's conception of certain songs, both in a good way and a bad way. Watch Antonia bring it as she dances in the street looking smoking hot and sexy, all the while expressing the meaning of the song in this brilliant music video for "Jameia".
Antonia, full name Antonia Iacobescu, is one of the top female Romanian artists around at the moment, and she has fully captured me recently as she releases fired-up tracks on Global Records. She's had plenty of hits in Romania and even went international early on in her career. Now, Global Records are certainly capitalising on all their artists, and I expect one of them will hit charts all over the world with one of their songs until then we'll treasure every single one of them, as well as the artists' previous musical releases. I am hoping that Antonia releases a new album soon - we definitely need one from her!
This music video is definitely a surprise. Antonia looks beautiful throughout and she clearly had one of the best times on this set as she moved about and danced, both with the dancers and without them. It has this 90's / 00's street theme going on that I truly am loving, and hope a range of music videos bring this theme back in the near-future.
This street scene is intersected by profile and performance shots of Antonia in a totally different place; yet, still looking fantastic. She seriously can pull off anything - if you don't believe me, check out G Girls' "Call The Police".
She brings the party to the street, and we can't help but enjoy it from start to finish. The dancing is on point throughout, the choreography is nailed in every way and it's pure fire. We miss this side of Antonia because we haven't seen her dance in a music video for some time. She can certainly bring it as much as the professionals.
I also love the fact that everyone on the street is watching her and putting up posters of her. And, let's not forget about the children who pick out a tattoo design for her - which she has done and still has today - although she covers it over with make-up during some of her shoots.
Overall, this music video is full of energy and really shows off Antonia is a positive light. It also made me like the song too, which I wasn't sure it would be able to. A slight narrative would certainly have made this visual that little more intricate.
I am off to see Alex Aiono for CelebMix on Monday 13 November 2017, so I thought I'll take a look at his songs and music videos so I know what he's singing when he's on stage. Since I'm starting to become obsessed with Felix Jaehn's music, I thought I might as well review this music video, and this must be a brilliant song, with a great music video too - or so I can hope. After watching, I'm relieved to say I do like it, both the song and the music video. Watch Felix Jaehn, Hight, and Alex Aiono have a party with some friends as they capture the sound of the song in this music video for their single "Hot2Touch".
Felix Jaehn, real name Felix Jähn, went international with his debut single, that certainly launched this German DJ. Now he's gearing up to release his debut album, and I literally cannot wait because all his recent releases have certainly been on fire. Let's just hope that it does well around the world and pulls in some chart numbers because I have no doubt it'll deserve high numbers. This is one of the tracks that will be on the album, it is a collaboration with Hight and Alex Aiono. The former is a London DJ who has been making various waves over the past few years, this collaboration has certainly helped to push his success. As for the latter, he's definitely going viral often; Alex Aiono came from YouTube and has a massive following and he may not have had a massive chart success, just yet, but he's definitely one male solo singer we all need to keep our eyes on. This song was written by Tim Deal, Thomas Alexander Walker, Felix Jaehn, Mark Ralph, and Cass Lowe.
The music video was directed by Carly Cussen. It is a full-on party visual, although it is displayed more as a YouTuber party. It's a great idea and concept, but the editing is quite on the lacking side, to the extent that it makes it hard to follow - at times.
The party takes place in an abandoned warehouse. Alex Aiono brings the music and there are balloons floating in the air. Everyone is dancing to choreography - even Felix Jaehn gets in on the moving, now that's what we're talking about!
The choreography may be simple but the dance sequences are nailed in every way. There's also a lot of freelance going on, and it's clear everyone involved is having a brilliant time. There are also some great outdoor shots that look awesome too. I have to give a shout out to the beer pong and the rides in a shopping trolley, something I've done on many occasions and some things you need to try out soon - if you haven't already.
Overall, this music video is engaging from start to finish, allowing the viewers to see something new every single time they watch it. So go and watch it again, trust me. I also love the personal video shots too, it feels like we're in this video, viewing it, just like we feel when we watch YouTubers. However, there could've been more of a link to the song itself because it does sort of come across as another party video.
When I have no idea what music video to review, I usually turn to either YouTube Recommendations or to my iTunes - which always plays my music on shuffle. My iTunes randomizer played this song and I realised how addicting it is - although my current addiction is Inna's "Ruleta". This song is definitely one of my favourites and reminds me of Michel Teló's "Ai Se Eu Te Pego". Watch Diego Faria party all day and night on a loop with a whole bunch of women in this music video for his song "Elas Ficam Loucas".
Diego Faria pretty much launched on to the scene with this song, just look at all the views the YouTube video has got - it's currently at 40 million hits. He's a confident singer and released his live album this year on all platforms. Whether he'll have another viral hit is something we're all wondering, although we reckon he'll keep riding and relying on the success of this song - and to be fair, we don't blame him. This song is by Tony Guerra.
The music video has so many views, it's unbelievable, but I'm pretty sure it's not because of the content because there's nothing to capture the viewers and make them watch it again and again. Well, unless you enjoy watching a party lifestyle.
There isn't a lot going on, we've seen similar music videos in the past, and this is always a fall-back when it comes to making a music video. It's slightly different this time because Diego Faria is partying with a whole range of women, and he is the only guy in sight. He wins them all over by singing his song during the party session.
The ending sees the doorbell ring again, suggesting that every single day is a party in his life - we all wish we had the money to have a party every single day. There's not a lot to the lyrics, according to my bad Google Translate from Portuguese to English. However, the video does link in slightly, I suppose.
I cannot believe how far behind on my blog I am, will I ever catch up? Gosh, I need to really start focusing, but as per usual, I'm not very good at that. Anyway, I am a total of 16 days behind, which isn't something I am proud of, at all. That's 16 music video reviews I need to write up. Regardless, at the backdated time of this post, Post Malone is at number one with "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage, which doesn't have a music video; however this one was in the Top 10, and I've been wanting to review this for some time now, as it has been turning up in my recommendations. It's certainly a polished video, that's for sure. Watch Stefflon Don and French Montana bring it in this music video with her dancing and acting brilliantly for the video while he adds that special something in this music video for "Hurtin' Me".
Stefflon Don, real name Stephanie Allen, first came to all our attention, mainly, when she featured on Jax Jones' "Instruction" which also featured Demi Lovato. It certainly launched her, so it's not a surprise she's managed to keep the flames of popularity going and ride the success with a subsequent release that has become a hit in itself. It surprised me, though, to find out she's from my hometown of Birmingham, although she did move away to The Netherlands when she was four years old, and then later headed to London to study. This song is a collaboration with French Montana, real name Karim Kharbouch. He went viral with his internationally successful hit "Unforgettable" featuring Swae Lee. Therefore, it's no surprise that this song has done really well in the UK, although whether it'll go international, that'll be the question we're all wondering. This song was written by Karim Kharbouch, Rodney Kumbirayi Hwingwiri, and Stephanie Victoria.
Directed by Luke Biggins and Stefflon Don, this music video is mainly a performance piece with some dancing and acting happening throughout. It's an impassioned visual that truly shows off Stefflon Don is the best light possible!
It is certainly a beautiful scenic video, that's for sure. Both artists look incredible and exude confidence in every way. Stefflon Don is hot throughout this clip, and she definitely brings it for the dancing, which allows us to see her in a totally different light. She has really connected with this song and displays her feelings for it throughout this visual.
French Montana adds a little special flavour to the track and the video, but I feel like Stefflon Don steals the show throughout and he's part isn't really needed. Regardless this music video certainly is polished and although there isn't a full-on narrative, the subtlety serves it well.
Since Alex Aiono has been doing so well on my blog when I reviewed "Work The Middle"; I thought, I might as well write up another review of one of his music videos. This is how I stumbled across this one and it is undeniably catchy. The music video is a care-free visual which certainly works with the song - although I disapprove of some of the actions of the characters in the music video. Watch Alex Aiono have a great day with a bunch of his mates alongside Trinidad Cardona in this music video for the collaborative song "Does It Feel Like Falling".
Alex Aiono is one of those male artists who is on form and continues to build up his career. He has millions of YouTube views and I expect it won't be long until he gets loads more and has an international hit behind him. His songs are pure fire and have definitely brought him a lot of attention, hence why he has some great collaborations to date. I cannot wait to see what the future brings to this male artist. This song sees Trinidad Cardona feature; he went viral at just 17 years old when his song "Jennifer" blew up on YouTube this year. It's a solid collaboration for sure and a song that is a total grower. It was written by John Ryan, Wayne Hector, Alex Schwartz, Daniel Griffith, Trinidad Cardona, Alex Aiono, Joseph Khajadourian, Nathan Andrew Cyphert, and J. Spargur.
Directed by Matthew Dillon Cohen, this music video literally transports the viewers into a day in the lives of Alex Aiono and his friends. They are clearly having a great time in the summer sunshine, making us all wish we could spend our days just like this.
We open up with a performance piece from Alex Aiono who shows off what this song means to him, adding all the emotion needed and fully bringing it for the visual.
Yet, it's the narrative that keeps us gripped throughout, as we watch practical jokes being played - although I do not approve of shaving someone's head as they sleep, that would make me completely mad if someone did that to me... Of course, the actor agreed to let that happen, so surely it wasn't spontaneous.
There's not a lot going on really. There's a pool party, and then they go to a deserted warehouse and dance, all before heading to the beach. At one point, Alex Aiono takes an opportunity to kiss a woman in a car. That's about it. The song is amazingly catchy, and even though the music video relates slightly to the song - and is making me jealous at the same time because I want someone who I fall for to fall for me too - I just feel that they could've done something better. This is pretty average.
My friends have been encouraging me to listen to this song. For those of you who know me well, Jessie J is one of those artists that I admire and she truly can sing, but there are times when she releases songs that I don't like, and that's why I'm not a fan of hers. Regardless, there are a few songs by her that I just simply adore; this song is definitely not one of them. It has a jazz-pop vibe to it which isn't to my taste at all. Regardless, it shows off Jessie J's versatility and proves that she can bring passion, desire, and honesty to tracks like this. Watch Jessie J strip it completely back as she sings to the viewers at home in this simple black and white music video for her track "Not My Ex".
Jessie J, real name Jessica Cornish, is one of the biggest female singers in the UK of recent years. She has been building up her career and has already worked with some of the best stars. However, recently she's been focusing on music she wants to release, and I am happy that she has that control to do so, but these sort of songs really aren't my thing. I'm clearly not the only one because her recent singles that are leading into her fourth studio album, which will be titled "R.O.S.E." which will be released next year, have yet to chart anywhere. This album will be her first LP release since 2014's "Sweet Talker". This song was written by Jessica Cornish and Darhyl Camper.
Directed by Brian Ziff, this music video is totally stripped back, in the most surprising way. This doesn't entertain at all. We watch Jessie J performing "Not My Ex" sitting down with a blank screen behind her and in black and white.
I'm not sure there is a whole lot I can talk about when it comes to this visual. She clearly performs well and emphasises her lyrics. But she's subtle in every way and it feels like it's staged; from the wet hair that looks like it's freshly been cut - like an hour ago if that - to the whole stripped-back performance. There's just no substance to this.
Overall, we've seen a whole host of better Jessie J music videos. I can totally understand that she wanted something on a personal level, something to connect with the fans, and perhaps a throwback to her early YouTube days, but it fails to keep the viewers interested. We want something better than this! It also reminds us of Rykka's "The Last Of Our Kind".
After reviewing this for CelebMix of course, I was going to review it on my blog as this week's New Release. Antonia continues to impress us all as she makes musical waves. She's come a long way and being on Global Records has definitely served her well. She's fire, fierce, sexy, and totally on point throughout this music video. She's giving it her all and I can't get enough of this song or its music video. Watch Antonia get revenge on a guy as she acts sexily and fashionable with her backing dancers in this incredible music video for her new single "Amya".
Antonia, full name Antonia Iacobescu, is certainly one of the top female Romanian artists around at the moment. Her early hits had a chance to go international, and although they didn't quite chart globally, it still grabbed the attention of many people who became her fans. Recently she has been dropping banger after banger after banger, and this song and video is just another one to add to the list. We're hoping that a new album will be on its way since it's been too long since her debut LP, and considering how catchy her latest tracks are, a full album would be pure perfection. This song was written by Alex Velea and Cristian Valentin Udrea.
Directed by Khaled Mokhtar, we see Antonia continue down her dark path of music videos. "Dor de Tine" was also quite dark, but not to this degree, at all. Antonia clearly wants revenge on her lover, or should I say ex-lover. Who dares wrong Antonia? Like, seriously? Just look at her!
There are two sides to this music video, both of which take place in this industrialised warehouse. There is a performance piece and the slight narrative. It's not clear what this guy has done, but our guess of cheating is usually correct. He's blindfolded and made to sit in a chair as he is hauntingly teased by the girls before Antonia takes his blindfold off at the end and walks away - boy, look at what you've lost! Boy bye!
As for the performance piece, Antonia fully brings it. She's fully connected to the song and is serving it to the camera. She means business all the while looking hot, sexy, and fashionable. She's passionate about the song and performs with an air of energy that transcends perfectly to the viewers.
Overall the music video is fire from start to finish. It would've been nice to see Antonia join the girls in the choreographed dance sequence; as well as give us a more elaborate narrative that explains how the guy wronged this awesome Romanian female singer. Yet, they make up for it during the performance piece with Antonia's complete fierceness.
Here's a Thursday Revisit for us all. It's Raluka with black hair when she dominated the Romanian charts with her undeniably catchy songs. Nowadays, she's bringing fire with authentic emotional songs that we can't help but love, but we also can't help loving her old songs too - although we much prefer the red hair. She has a Tulisa look about her during this music video, all the while her music reminds me of Lasgo. Watch Raluka get revenge on a guy whilst acting sexily and totally nailing some choreography in her music video for hit Romanian track "Out Of Your Business".
Raluka, real name Alexandra Raluca Nistor, is one of my favourite Romanian female singers, she's up there with the best such as Inna, Antonia, and Alexandra Stan, amongst others. I had the amazing opportunity to interview her for CelebMix recently, and that was certainly a dream come true. This was one of her early hits when she was totally on form and nailing the Romanian charts. Unfortunately, none of her tracks have ever become international successes, although they certainly all deserve to be. I believe that she will have an international smash one day - with vocals like this and her crazy determination, she'll make it. This song apparently hit number eight on the Romanian Top 100 chart. We believe the song was written by Stefan Mihalache and Cristian Maier.
This music video mainly focuses on Raluka's performance scenes, because sex certainly sells and she is definitely bringing it when it comes to singing the song. There is an interesting but slight narrative intersected throughout.
Mainly, her performance piece sees her lying on a bed, looking directly at the camera. This is definitely the main scene throughout, and she certainly knows how to keep the audience interested. Yet, my favourite performance scene is where she's nailing the dance choreography - in this scene she fully brings it, with her two backing dancers, proving that she can dance. I so wish I get the chance to see her perform live.
As for the narrative side of things, we watch Raluka and her backing dancers ride an elevator and then walk into a business meeting, where her ex is sitting at the head of the table. She proclaims that they're over whilst being a tease and wrecking the place. Now, this is total revenge.
Overall this music video is polished and totally memorable. I feel that the narrative takes a backstep whilst the performance comes to the forefront; when, really, it should be the other way around since the revenge plot is certainly entertaining and grips the viewers throughout. Raluka knows how to perform, that's for sure, but there's just not enough substance there compared to the narrative.
We have new music from Ashley J and a brand new music video to go with it - that I'm totally loving. She came to my attention recently when the music video to "Trapped" was sent through my email, now I'm a fan and I really can't help it. This music video, however, is probably one of her best to-date, and I literally can't stop watching. The song is crazily addicting too. Ashley J, full name Ashley Jean, is building up her career and I am so loving her music to-date. This song is a fan-favourite, and it's not a surprise at all because it is brilliant in every way. Unlike her previous songs, this one is a bit more stripped back, fully exposing her emotions within the song. I was lucky enough to interview her for CelebMix, as well as write up an article on the song and the music video. She's definitely a rising star in the music industry and this song and music video is completely powerful. She plans on dropping an EP very soon - we really cannot wait for that. This song was written by Ashley J, whilst it was produced by Jamie Sellers and Warwick Matthews.
Directed by Ashley J - yes she directed this awesome music video all by herself - this visual is engaging from start to finish, fully showing off all sides of herself. She's beautiful, genuine, sweet, sexy, and focused in this confident visual.
There are various scenes throughout; our favourite is where she's in the woods as she is so confident and genuine during this scene. She expresses herself completely, to the extent where we wish we were friends with her as she'd definitely be an amazing friend to have.
The other scenes show her in her house songwriting. There's the casual day where she has a cup of tea with her - perhaps an ode to London where the song was produced since Britain is known for their tea. There's the sexy evening scene where she has a glass of wine as she writes her song, she then takes it to the piano, later on. Then there's the scene with the mirror as she sings to her reflection as she dyes her hair with Marilyn Monroe framed behind her.
Overall, this is one polished music video. Ashley J completely shows herself off as an artist and as a person in this visual. She displays her songwriting process as well as her confidence - relating well with the song. I cannot wait to see what else she has in store for us in the future.
I previously wrote up about this release for CelebMix so, of course, I was going to write about it on my blog. Especially since I'm a big fan of Raluka. This song is completely beautiful in every way, fully showing off her vocals, more so than her previous songs. This is why I love this so much, and clearly, I'm not the only one because it is racking up the YouTube views. This visual displays Raluka as the brilliant female singer we know her as. Raluka is a Romanian singer who has had a number of hits with DJ Sava during her early releases. He real name is Alexandra Raluca Nistor. She has had a great solo career to date with plenty of amazing songs. Her recent releases have been pure fire, and I even had the chance to interview her for CelebMix on the release of "Tattoo" which was an English version of her previous track "Du-ma Spre Noi". She's clearly bringing it with her releases, and her future is certainly bright. I cannot wait to see where her career takes her, I hope I get to watch her live on stage, and I hope she gets to release an album. This song was written by Irina Rimes & Raluka.
Directed by Alex Ceausu, this music video is a pure performance piece visually shown in black and white set on a beach - we all know how much I hate black and white music videos. Although, I'll give this credit as it allows Raluka to fully step into the spotlight and fully allow the shades to blend - not something that can be shown in colour.
As expected, Raluka gives it her all in this music video. She's clearly passionate about the song - the title means "Who Am I" in English whilst the song is about breaking away from a relationship that held her back. The visual shows how strong she is all by herself; she doesn't need anyone else.
Not only that, but Raluka treats us to a choreographed scene that proves she can dance. This is the YAS moment of the music video. Raluka shows she doesn't need anyone, she brings flames of fire and sparks of energy during this dance sequence, just WOW!
Overall, there isn't a lot to this music video, and although relatable to the song, there's nothing at all that memorable. She brings it for the performance, but the black and white visual does leave the viewers wishing there was more to this.
Okay, so I'm still on my catch-up spree, in case you haven't guessed. I'm behind by seven days now, which sounds so much better than 13 days like I was a few days ago. Anyhow, what I wasn't expecting was a music video that would make me cry because that usually equates to a very long review, one that will take me some time to write up; time of which I don't have because I'm trying to catch up with myself. Low and behold, here is the perpetrating music video, and it just so happens to be Chart Mondays too. Since Post Malone is holding reign at the top of the UK Singles Chart with "Rockstar" featuring 21 Savage, which doesn't have a music video, it opens the top ten, and just sitting at number ten is this song, with the video that made me cry. Watch Coy Stewart play a gay character who is contemplating suicide in this heart-wrenching music video for Logic's song "1-800-273-8255" featuring Alessia Cara & Khalid.
Logic, real name Sir Robert Hall II, is an American artist and rapper who has really been building up his career in the last two years. Previous song "Sucker For Pain", which was a massive collaboration, became an international success; a year later, he's hit it off with this song, fully raising awareness for homosexuality and suicide prevention that this track is a smash around the world. Personally, I want to thank him for this song and video, it's rare for these issues to be shown in the media, let alone in rap and hip-hop music, so this track certainly has my support in every single way. Featuring on this track is Alessia Cara and Khalid. The former, whose real name is Alessia Caracciolo, is another star who's built up her career and who is still fighting for a certain song to be identified with her name and image - she's had hits but nothing that she's mostly known for. Then there's the latter feature, who is one of the top rising stars out at the moment. Khalid, full name Khalid Robinson, is someone we're all keeping an eye on. He's made such an impact, this year alone, that he's going to be monumental in the direction of the music industry as the next year rolls in. This song is iconic, it's stamped itself into 2017, and it will never go away, and nor should it. This track is Logic trying to help people, and when you make something this powerful, it deserves to be a hit. "1-800-273-8255" is actually the number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in the United States; the song itself was written by Sir Robert Hall II, Arjun Ivatury, Alessia Caracciolo, and Khalid Robinson.
Directed by Andy Hines, this music video has touched the world. It's left people speechless, it's left people in tears (including me), and its left people annoyed - because they don't agree with people being gay. It's a powerful visual, one I'll never forget. The video stars Coy Stewart, Nolan Gould, Don Cheadle, Luis Guzmán, and Matthew Modine; it lasts for almost seven minutes, turning it into quite a film-like short.
Coy Stewart plays our main character and can be seen from the very start as he deals with his life. The opening scene sees him running down a street, clearly running away from his life. The following scenes show his childhood, how he's grown from a baby into a man.
As a teenager, he arrives home to his father finding out about his sexuality by discovering a copy of Gay Times Magazine - boy, would I have hated my parents finding out about my homosexuality that way. After a discussion with his father, who clearly doesn't understand, we return to him running down the street. Other scenes see him detached from his college life; worried about his father's words.
We previously saw him acting out a secret handshake with a guy in school, and the following scenes see him hanging out with this guy - played by Nolan Gould. They end up in bed together, and when Nolan's father walks in on them chilling in bed together half-naked, Coy Stewart grabs his clothes and hastens out of the house; disapproval on the father's face, tells all.
This is where Alessia Cara comes in, who can be seen performing her song on screens within the school, adding a passionate and caring vibe to these hard-hitting scenes. Logic also joins in, appearing on computer screens in a tech room; he adds flames to the performance piece, bringing an energetic yet meaningful vibe to the scenes. A joke is played on Coy Stewart in the locker room, where someone's attached a dildo to the inside of his locker.
More depressing scenes follow; one suggesting that he's living at the school since scenes show him sleeping on the floor, and taking a shower at the school. He also falls asleep in class, where his teacher asks if he is okay. His teacher offers him some food, to which he is thankful for.
The next scene sees his father, played by Don Cheadle, heading down the school's corridors and chatting to the kind teacher. Even more distressing scenes follow, where Coy Stewart is seen to be back home in his bedroom with a gun, extremely upset and clearly contemplating suicide - man, this is tough to watch, especially since we've all been there at one point or another, probably not to this extreme but a simple thought or more.
This is the most heart-breaking scene, seeing him acting out with the gun, putting it to his head, to his reflection in the mirror, all the while having flashbacks on certain moments of his life. We are cut away from this scene to what looks like a hook-up scene, where he meets this guy and the car is driven to the top of a parking lot. It's intercut with Khalid performing on the computer screens where we previously watched Logic sing.
Then we see Coy Stewart in the school's bathroom, dialling a number - we presume his calling "1-800-273-8255", the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The turning moment in his life, where he seeks help. The cute scenes that follow show him getting married to a guy, and his parents there to celebrate with him - to know that this scene is part of my future makes me a bit teary, because I never thought I'd be able to get married, and now that it's legal, the thought of going through this process and to marry a guy I love with the support of my family and his family, really gives me goosebumps. To see the proud face of his father is simply amazing.
And to add further cuteness to this ending, we see the happily married couple welcoming a child into the world. Another thing I hope my future brings me. The ending is beautiful and brings it around perfectly. It really does feel like a film, totally representing the LGBTQ+ community as well as suicide, which is something we're used to the media hiding, or not fully taking it into account. It's one of the biggest killers and just talking to someone can actually save a life. This video is brilliant in every way.
